Good place to go for lunch in the loop. Not my favorite, but a good change of pace restaurant. Things I enjoy about Pompei: Heat the slice — They have the pizza out behind glass, you order and they toss it in the oven for 5 minutes to heat it back up(its the little things in life that make me happy) Pepperoni Pizza — not to greasy, just think enough and the dough is perfectly cooked Treats — you can get a small brownie for 50 cents, i don’t need a giant cookie after my meal, just a little something sweet to hit the palate Things I do not enjoy about Pompei: Salad — all around this is a poor place to grab a salad, lettuce is old and soggy, Cesar dressing has way to much anchovy in it and the chicken is usually cold Service– your order usually takes far too long and you end up standing in a semicircle with strangers Bread– this is just plain old sub-par jewel bread(WTF Pompei you can do better than that!)

So I heard this Loop location can take awhile, that the lines can be a bit long. I had my 4th experience today and say, YES, they do take awhile. That being said, I have always phoned in my order to ensure I do not have to wait. Lo and behold, I still have to wait when I get there. There always seems to be a snafu at the register. paper out. just rebooted the system. someone didn’t get their food. I think they need a better system. Maybe. Their check out area seems to be a logistical nightmare. Gee, I don’t know… loop. lunch. RUSH.? But what the hell do I know? Other than that, their chopped chicken salad is great, although sometimes the roasted chicken in that salad seems to have all the moisture roasted out of it. Very dry chicken. Nothing some more dressing can’t fix. :-) They also have these mini brownies and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies(oatmeal chocolate chip are the best cookies of ALL time) for $.25 each! The only thing that tops that is quick service. [ahem]
