Came here this past Sunday for Restaurant week lunch. Per our reservation, we were seated right away. Our waiter was very prompt providing menus. We ordered from the restaurant week menu, 1st courses came out right away, salad and soup. Both were ok, nothing spectacular but it is just a salad. We both ordered the Short Rib entrée, we both rec’d breakfast sandwiches. When we told the waiter, he went to the kitchen to put in the correct order. He offered to box up the breakfast sandwiches for us to take home, free of charge obviously. Short rib sandwiches delivered, again just ok, too much bun not enough rib filling. Last course was dessert. We ordered the Chocolate tres leche cake and pere. We both rec’d the tres leche cake. At this point we just didn’t want to deal with waiting for the waiter to correct our order. The tres leche was very good, quite refreshing actually. Not sure I will return, too many restaurants to try, with a simple RW order and getting most of it incorrect is not putting this at top of my list.

First. the waiter needs to kick up speed. Waiting for someone to take our drink order and then the waiting for the drinks… tooooo long. Started with guacamole and chips… very good. Ordered dinner. 3 salads and one French onion soup. Salads OK, French soup was like salted water… could not finish it. 3 different steaks. One filet mignon ordered medium rare was medium. But the rib eye steaks was to die for… very, very good. I will definitely come back again. Always give a place a second chance.

Second time going and it will probably be my last for a good long while. It was just awkward and uncomfortable. Did not see a waitress/waiter for 25 minutes after our sit down reservation time. Then a waitress finally asked if we’d been helped, told her no, and said she would be back with our waitress. 10 minutes later the bartender comes out to ask if we’d been helped. Then the bartender becomes our waiter, which is fine, but then just goes«any questions — are you ready?» Way to sell the experience. Or talk about the pre fixe. Or anything really. Given we had a full 30 minutes to sit on our hands, we ordered. Then I probably had the only actual question of the night from any wait staff: «can I see your IDs?» Really? I get it but really? 30 minutes, no discussion about the food or menu, and then you want me to pull out my ID without so much as a sorry or «it’s a really busy night!» Or anything? Then of course our waiter, who was the bartender, was busy — you know — making drinks so we rarely saw the guy. I still don’t understand why several tables didn’t have actual wait staff. One table next to mine got the completely wrong entrée and several others were waiting long times for service as well. Just a mess. Not worth it.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Close to my house. Can’t ask from much more — however sometimes the service can be a little lax and the food is a bit over priced. However, I’ve recently started craving the short rib… and for that Revolucion has my love.

The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because the service was moderate at best. However, the food was amazing. We had the guacamole and chips and queso fundido to start with. Both were amazingly good. The jalapeño cucumber margarita is a must have. The filet Oscar style was perfection. Even though our service was not good, we will be back with the hope that it was just an off night for our waiter.

Visited this place for brunch/lunch with friends from DC. Not too happy with overall service, here’s the gist of it. 1. At the conclusion of our meal, we split the bill. One card was charged incorrectly, had charges for items we didn’t even order took several back and forth exchanges of charging, cancelling a charge, charging again, cancel again, and finally charge again to correct the payment of the bill, leaving us sitting there for 25 minutes twiddling our thumbs until the waiter could figure it out. 2. Two of us ordered steak and eggs, requested medium, received well done 3. If they advertise and promote that they have brunch specials with bottomless mimosas, they should expect that they would be busy and staff accordingly. The waiter we had was either new or didn’t care and had to continually seek him out and call him for refills of coffee, water, or mimosas. 4. It was a group of 6 and all orders were placed at the same time, however, 2 people received their food first, then 1 more order came out 5 minutes later, followed by the remaining 3 orders 10 minutes later. 5. One of my friends requested a serving of chambord to spice up his mimosa, the waiter had never heard of the liquor before? The place has potential, and maybe we came on an off day, but overall this being the first time for me as a local and my friends as visitors, we were not impressed.

Great margaritas… great service… great atmosphere. Home made chips with three kinds of salsa. The seasoning on the steaks add just the right flavor. Fish tacos are great as well. In the summer… set on the walk or a high top with the windows open.

Honestly, I’ve been here a few times and every time I ended up a little more disappointed than the last time. I WANT to like this place but it’s just so… meh. The guac is good here but it’s kind of hard to screw up guac. Last time I had the combination platter and it was just ok – nothing to write home about. This place tries to do too much instead of just focusing on one thing. The prices aren’t terrible but it’s not cheap either. Honestly this review is short because there isn’t much that’s memorable.

Eh. This place is fine. It’s Mexican and a Steakhouse with a large menu. I came here for a light dinner with a friend and split guacamole and a chicken quesadilla. Both were fine– nothing special. My friend said the sangria(on special that night for $ 5/glass) was really good. I’d come back for another appetizer and drink but this seemed like just elevated bar food. With so many other great spots in the neighborhood I doubt I’ll be back often.

I’m giving this 3 stars not because of the food it is due to the server and the price of my Drink. Food was tasty. The service needs improvement my waitress forgot my salad and bread. I had to ask for them twice my food came and no salad. The pomegranate margarita is delicious except you pay $ 10 for a shot not really a whole drink. The drink comes in a small glass with a giant ice ball that takes up¾ of the glass. Manager was excellent with her service recovery. she provide us with a free dessert and another drink. I will give them another opportunity.

Great service!!! Food was typical yummy food. But the service is what took me to a 4! I ordered off the menu and the waiter knew just what I wanted. I will go back, I will eat outside, I will ask for the same waiter.

This place is great. Service was impeccable from start to finish. The traditional guacamole was great with plenty of chips they gave compare to some other places I have been to. The carnitas(pork) tacos and the carne asada(steak) tacos was great along with the salsa that came it. I will definitely go back to this place and try other dishes including brunch. The prices are very reasonable and the décor is really nice with a great atmosphere and ambiance.

Too bad for the poor service we received. Waitress was completely unattached to us and unfamiliar with menu. Food was really good!

Went for the Mimosa brunch and ended up not getting mimosas or brunch. However, the food we did get was delicious. When we sat down we noticed others with the $ 23 bottomless mimosas looking a lot more like orange juice than champagne… so instead we went for the liter of margarita to split and it was the best decision. It was refreshing and strong! Finally we split the Balas de zapata(fried wonton filled with deliciousness) and the carne asada tacos. Both were incredible and I would highly recommend!

I have been coming here for the last year as it’s my go-to place to watch Chicago Blackhawks hockey. What, you say? A mexican steakhouse? Well, it’s for the food, drink and outstanding service. They do have several large TVs easily viewable and they are great about having the game on. The best part is trying the guacamole of the day and sampling their beers. I really enjoy the beer flights they present. The staff is one of the best; friendly, knowledgable and always helpful with suggestions and answers. Kudos also to the management for stopping by and always sharing a friendly few minutes. I’ve had a few of the entrees(stuffed chicken, skirt steak and burger) and all have been way above your typical chicken, steak and burger. Desserts are also good but I am usually stuffed by that point. There is usually street parking(meters and only a couple of bucks an hour) nearby and there is also a garage less than a block away, but it’s pricey. Highly recommended.

I live in the neighborhood so I have come for both dinner and brunch over the past year or so. Inconsistent service coupled with high prices has kept us from coming here regularly. I came for brunch last weekend with my sister and fiancé and we took advantage of the nice weather by sitting outside at one of the sidewalk tables on Broadway. After placing our orders we waited a long time to receive our food(~45−50 min), even though the restaurant did not appear to be busy. However, once we did finally receive our food it was obvious that it had been sitting for quite some time-food was not hot, soggy etc. At this point we were so hungry we opted to just eat the food rather than have to wait longer for it to be re-made. We won’t be returning.

OVER-PRICED. I only have myself to blame for judging a book by its cover. My friend lives around the corner and we stopped in for lunch one Saturday afternoon when the weather was perfect. It seemed like the perfect place for a few drinks and some food with the windows open. It looks like your average mexican restaurant with the corona trinagular banner, multi-colored table clothes, music, the whole 9. Except this place claims to be a steakhouse and EVERYTHING is expensive. We should have walked out before we began, but we figured we’d give it a shot. You have to pay for the chips and salsa(red flag). Although they were delicious, not worth the price. A pitcher of margaritas…$ 38. Three. Eight. Yes, they were fresh. Yes, it had real mango purée. No, they weren’t endless and worth almost $ 40. If you’re looking for chips, salsa, some tacos and cheap margs, this isn’t your place. I won’t be back and have definitely learned my lesson!

Came here to dinner with my fiancé. We sat outside because it was a nice day. If you want to sit outside, I recommend asking for the sitting NOT on Broadway Street because it did get noisy with all the cars driving by and people walking by on the side walk. I ordered the steak burger which was huge and delicious. The food portions and prices are not bad, but the drinks are a bit over prices for the size you get(but taste very good). I will for sure go back again, so many things on the menus I still want to try

Overall: 5 star potential, but falls short due to service and price. Still, a fantastic restaurant with great food. The good: Fantastic food, plenty of authentic cuisine and all of it was delicious. Guacamole was rich and thick, steak was great, and portions sizes are big. Classy experience, not regular mexican fare. Great atmosphere with a classy but casual feel. The bad: The service was not great. Waited forever to get our orders and drinks and food. Definitely a hamper on the experience. Prices were a little high, and creep up quickly if you aren’t careful. Atmosphere: 9⁄10 Service: 6⁄10 Food: 9⁄10

I’ve been wanting to try Revolucion Steak House for a few months and I was finally able to when I went on a date this weekend(with a lawyer… mom would be happy about that). The service was on point thanks to our server Sam who made sure we were always taken care of without being intrusive. We couldn’t find anything to complain about regarding the food and drinks as everything was delicious. We also got to meet two of the owners and they were pretty damn cool; letting us know about how they came up with the concept of the restaurant, details about the décor, how they go about cooking the steaks and educating us on tequila. Drinks –Mexican Mule: this is similar to a Moscow Mule, but has a spicy kick thanks to the Serrano chile. –Amsterdam Summer: this drink was good and refreshing especially on a nice summer night. –Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita: this drink is one I will definitely be getting when I go back to Revolucion. After finishing this drink I felt the need to say, «I’ve been drinking, I’ve been drinking.» –Caipirinha: which is made with rum, fresh lime, sugar cane and club soda. My date really enjoyed this drink and contemplated ordering another, but didn’t want to look like a lush in front of me. For a dollar more you can add flavor(raspberry, mango, passion fruit, strawberry, watermelon, cucumber or blackberry). Food –Trio Guacamole: which consisted of the tradicional and rustico which are on the menu and the special guac of the day which had tequila infused blueberries mixed in with it. All three guacs were good, but my favorite was the tradicional. –Combination: I opted to make my own entrée by selecting to create a combination of two meats to go with either chipotle mashed potatoes, fries or a baked potato. I selected the chipotle mashed potatoes which were light, creamy and pleasing to my sense of taste. I paired the 6oz French Cut Pork Chop with the 6oz Skirt Steak. The pork chop and steak were both cooked to my liking, juicy, tender and filled with flavor. –Chuletas de Puerco: is what my date ordered and this entrée consisted of a 12oz pork chop, pineapple chipotle salsa, caramelized fried plantains and chipotle mashed potatoes. The pork chop was GOOOOD, especially with the pineapple chipotle salsa on top of it. Revolucion Steak House is a must try! My dining experience here gets two thumbs and toes up. I will definitely be going back there in the very near future.
