The only thing I like here is the mushroom pizza, I’m odd but I like it-I hate coming to have lunch at the Thompson Center b/c I feel either great about my life after I leave or in a bad mood, so many crackheads and odd people-You are always making sure your belongings don’t get snatched and making sure some crazy person won’t come and try and sit with you :/ It’s been about 4 years since I’ve been back in here, even though I live next door-So I got a slice of mushroom, not the deep dish, just a slice of mushroom pizza, no drink, no sides and with tax it was $ 5.18-A couple dollars more and I could get a whole pizza from Domino’s– It’s good and it’s not like I’m poor but a slice should not be $ 5, maybe $ 3, but not $ 5– The checkout people seem to forget they represent the company, so maybe they should be reminded… Don’t think I’ll be going here again, not worth it–

I really wanted some pasta salad. I remember how good the pasta salad was at the DePaul Center Sbarro location. I bought a side salad and it tasted aiiight but it was $ 5! I don’t know. That seemed a bit much.

No Real Complaints about this location… I believe it’s the only location downtown, and if you get something other then pizza, they aren’t skimpy like other downtown fast-food spots

Like most people, I spent my younger years working in malls and had grown accustomed to mall food. My tastes have definitely improved since then, but yesterday I had a craving for a slice of pizza and Sbarro was the only option. So I ventured into the bowels of the Thompson Center to get my fix. My slice of supreme pizza tasted just like I remembered. The sauce was sweet and the crust was doughy and bland. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. The guy behind the counter didn’t even heat it up for me, which might have helped the taste. It was mediocre and a waste of $ 5.

How the heck did two slices of greasy, luke warm pizza and a drink get to be $ 14.09? The last time I ate this same meal at the Illinois Center Sbarro’s, it was around $ 10. I always get the same thing – a slice of pepperoni, a slice of spinach and a medium Diet Coke. $ 14? Really, Sbarro’s, $ 14? Never again. I won’t comment too much on the surroundings except to say that: hold on to your personal belongings, don’t sit under an area open to the skylights on a rainy day, and avoid eye contact with any of the crazy homeless people shuffling around looking for a seat(hopefully not next to yours) to plop down on and pick at their clothing. I won’t be going back to this Sbarro’s. Ever.

Today I was wandering around the loop, sick and tired of my usual lunch spots, and I eventually found myself going down the escalator at the Thomson Center, hoping to find a magical place with food I would never tire of. Or Sbarro. There was in fact a Sbarro, so I threw any thoughts of a lean, healthy lunch out of the window and headed to my favorite pizza place(from when I was 8). I grabbed two slices of pepperoni, which looked like they had been out for a while. When I was paying, I realized it was almost $ 9, and even going into the meal I knew the best I was hoping for was decent. Overall it was fine, and I will continue going there once a year or so mostly out of nostalgia, but even for lunch in the loop, $ 9 for two ok pieces of pizza is no great deal.

As I had about 5 – 10 minutes for a quick bite to eat for lunch, Sbarro was sort of a default option due to its ‘portability’. It had been ages since having their pizza and it just wasn’t as good as I remembered(which would be pretty average to a-ok) It seemed to have a bit thicker crust and it wasn’t cooked enough(even after re-heating it). I wanted a veggie but they were out so opted for the sausage and pepperoni, basically a veggie’s polar opposite! The sausage was definitely not to my liking and the pepperoni was acceptable. End of, [x] won’t be back

I never would have thought Sbarro served breakfast until some co-workers mentioned it to me. Had an egg craving this morning so I ventured over as I jumped off of the train. Walked in the Thompson Center and the damn escalator was broken. So I ran down the steps thinking I have to beat a huge line. As I looked to the left and saw Sbarro, no one was in line. I am a lucky boy!!! I got the breakfast special($ 4 and some change) which included eggs, potatoes and sausage or bacon(I got sausage). The eggs were ok(my buddy told me I should have got the spanish eggs), but the potatoes and sausage was something special. The potatoes had great flavor as they were seasoned to perfection. I was being greedy so I got the cheese grits as well(yummmm). Pretty good breakfast and for a small amount of dough. I like!!!

I found the perfect $ 2.97 hangover breakfast in the Loop(and most likely any other city). It’s the sausage egg and mozzarella cheese breakfast calzone, the Sbarro way! It’s bland and salty but fluffy eggy and doughy and sausagey… just like you’d demand of Sbarro. mm MM!

Yep. it’s a chain and like most other Sbarros you’ll find. The portions are generous which is good if you’re really hungry. They are open later than a lot of the lunch places in the loop, but when I went in to get dinner before going to a show, the selections were unappetizing so I walked back out. It’s another cheap option for lunch in the loop, what else can I say?

OK, Sbarro is just not as good as I remember it being when I was 15 and hanging out at the H.I.P. Pizza is palatable(superior to the other nearby pizza by the slice venue, the Chase Building Cafeteria/Bistro place) but nothing special. Baked Zitti has overcooked pasta and rather flavorless sauce. Fast, extremely friendly service though! Sturdy to-go packaging is a plus. It is pretty much what you expect from Sbarro. A little costlier than I expected for the Zitti though… You know what it is, and if it is not what you like I would just avoid eating there.
