I was at the Hyatt Regency for a conference. To make a very long story short, I waited for over an hour and never ended up getting my meal(I ordered a tuna melt, they brought me a soup & salad, I said I didn’t order that, my tuna melt never came and I had to get back to the conference). I ended up spending $ 2 on Pringles for my lunch at the snack shop. In hindsight, I should have just eaten the soup & salad.

I have only had the breakfast buffet at Shor Restaurant and it was very limited. There is your standard fruit, french toast, scrambled eggs and bacon as well as an omelet station. There isn’t very much beyond that though. I would have had a more satisfying breakfast, for half the cost had I ordered a la carte.

I’ve had worse, but not much. If you are looking for a decent meal, don’t look here. It’s really the breakfast buffet area trying to make some extra money by serving dinner. Convenient, yes. But I struggle to say I shouldn’t have walked somewhere else. Calamari was ‘mushy’ and ribeye was coated in a ‘brown gravy’ and meat was from the local 2nd hand grocery store. Sorry, but a Hyatt this nice should have a nicer place to offer its guest.

Over priced hotel food. I had eggs benedict and it was nothing special with coffee and juice the bill was $ 30! Don’t waste your money here.

Ridiculous! International Shows going on, restaurant is empty and they are not using most of the restaurant because they don’t have enough staff. And I tried to go in by myself! Wouldn’t they think ahead of time and have plenty of staff able to handle the entire restaurant?! Not even ordering room service from them for sure.

Shor is located on the main level of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. For the size of the hotel, this place was lacking. The staff was friendly enough and although the hotel was packed(Grateful Dead concert weekend and a Socialists Convention at the hotel), we were seated pretty quickly each morning. They offered your typical hotel buffet: eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, fruit, bagels, and an omelet station. The food was okay, although my wife had a serving of the eggs and they were cold. I stuck with some basics(pancakes, bacon and sausage), and they were alright, although the first day they were out of syrup(with multiple people behind the counter and no one but myself getting food). Our friend wanted an omelet and brought over a couple pieces of bacon asking if they would add it to the omelet and they refused as it wasn’t part of the omelet ‘ingredients’. Come on people, live a little! While we didn’t have lunch here, we did check out the menu and it wasn’t very big or exciting. Overall, there was nothing terribly wrong, but for a higher end hotel, the food at Shor was on par with a Day’s Inn free breakfast.

Your average hotel/convention dining spot. Had the Eggs Benedict and a glass of water. With tip, total came out to $ 20. A bit steep considering the food wasn’t extraordinary, but the service was efficient and you can just charge to your room. Could definitely get pricey for groups.

Great burgers. Damn? $ 12 ok. I get it Hotel restaurant prices, but I can’t be mad at them because the food and service was fast and friendly. James Brown on the speakers and they have a lot of draft beer on the menu. This’ll do nicely!

Yes, it will be an overpriced hotel dinner. At the Hyatt, there are only a few options especially in that neighborhood it you do not want to walk 4 – 5 blocks to nearest restaurant. Liked — fried calamari appetizer — pretty good wine selections — attentive service — fast kitchen So so — ahi tuna salad(skimpy on the tuna) For $ 50+ /person, could have been better but good quality food.

Was here during a convention so it was very busy. Had a steak and food was delicious.

Ok the menu looked promising but it was a let down. I ordered the carmalized onion and portobello mushroom omelette with a side of turkey sausage and white toast. The omelette would have been good if it was warm. The turkey sausage was absolutely gross(cold with chunks of bone and cartilage) after eating my meal I typed this review up and never had the waiter stop to ask if everything was ok. Finally flagged him down and asked for my toast that I was suppose to have with my meal! NOT A RECOMENDEDPLACETOEATBREAKFAST!

The food(vegetable stack for dinner, lemon curd with fresh berries) was outstanding and service was attentive. I was pleasantly surprised in a hotel restaurant.

The service was amazing. But the food! As a vegetarian, very rarely am I wowed by the vegetarian entrée at a traditional restaurant. The«Veggie Stack» was out of this world! It’s a must try for even carnivores.

I needed a place to grab a bite after a full day at C2E2. Super friendly staff. The buffet sounded good, but since I was eating late(9pm) my server wasn’t sure if they were out of fried chicken. So, I opted for the Waygu burger and some Calamari. The calamari was very good. Large pieces and a nice breading. The Waygu burger featured a pretzel bun, fried pickle, and was prefectly cooked — what’s not to love? Recommended!

After traveling for 5 ½ hrs from California, I was hungry. My appetite was growing while I was high above the clouds on my way to Chicago. So I checked in at McCormick and in the directory I stumbled upon this restaurant. I was going to skip dinner but as my eyes browsed through the list of food places my stomach started growling. So I made my way to the restaurant which isn’t very hard to find considering how humongous this hotel is. From the north tower, go straight past the lobby to the south tower, then make a left then past the escalator on your right & snack shop on your left. You’ll reach the end of the hall. Across is Forno(Italian) and on your immediate right is Shor. Before I asked for a seat, I was presented with 3 menus. Turns out that each menu is designated to a certain room. Since it’s dinner time, the main room was pretty occupied. Sandwich menu and drinks/appetizer menus to the other two smaller rooms. Don’t know why they have this arrangement but it must work for them. I chose the menu with the steak since I needed to fill my gut really quick here. The room was large, quite dim but cozy. Groups on the other side and couples and solo guests along the entrance. I was served right away and my steak arrived in 10 mins. I ordered a medium rare 14 oz ribeye with a loaded baked potato. Although the meat was tender & juicy, it needed more flavor. I sliced through the meat and the left half was cooked medium & the right half was med rare, didn’t complain about it. I was hungry. The baked potato although it was also good was on the cool/warm side. Price wasn’t too bad. Steak, loaded potato, a beverage plus taxes, it came down to $ 47. In California, at a restaurant with a 3 star rating, that price is just for the steak & taxes(not even Filet mignon). Customer service was excellent. I wish my waitress gave me her name. She was so attentive and made sure my glass is refilled constantly. When I left the restaurant, I didn’t realize that I left my leather jacket on my chair. I kept walking & stopped by the snack shop to grab a bottle of Gatorade and then one of the managers approached me and asked if I left my jacket somewhere. All of a sudden it dawned on me that it was my jacket. I thanked him for it. I’ve left some items in restaurants before like a hat, scarf, pen, etc but no one has ever made an effort to find me later on for something I’ve left behind. Kudos to this manager. Again, I wish I asked for his name. If the business owner is reading this, I was at Shor on 3⁄28 at 8 pm and left around 9ish. Two men in black suits(one African American and a Caucasian guy were in the snack shop at the same time). Please let them know how grateful I am. Again, a pleasant experience. For the price I’m paying to stay at Mccormicks, it’s worth it.

A respite from the McCormick Place food court and the hustle and bustle of a large trade show, Shor actually seems to have three distinct areas. This review is specifically for lunch at the more formal, sit down restaurant, sandwiched between the bar area and the casual eatery. If you’re a regular trade show /conference-goer, then you know how blessed it can be to sit in relative silence, alone, eating a decent plate of food to gather strength for the afternoon slog. I recommend going early to lunch, between 11 – 11:30 am, especially for a large show at McCormick, as the place fills quickly. My options from the menu were limited, as I have a gluten allergy, but the one GF item on the lunch menu was really, really good — if you enjoy seafood. The grilled seafood salad comes with salmon, shrimp and scallops, served over french beans, shredded jicama, carrots and spiced olives, with a light vinaigrette. My seafood was excellently prepared, and I savored every bite. Service was efficient, and good at keeping beverages filled. Sure, prices are steep, as they are at most hotel restaurants, but for me, totally worth it for an hour of calm amidst the storm.

Went. Got food poisoning. Just spent the last few hours of a conference going back an forth to the restrooms. Don’t go. Cream for coffee had dirt/specks in it. I should have paid attention to that warning. Now going to catch a flight. I better get an aisle seat! Save yourself the drama. If this is the only option… go hungry.

I was attending a conference at McCormick Place and not wanting a convention center sandwich so I found this place as about the closest restaurant since it’s in the Hyatt. The hostess here was a bit rude and the menu is quite limited. They are really geared towards getting you to eat at the buffet. I had a salad that was just ok and a business associate had a sandwich and soup. He thought his food was good but this guy thinks anything he doesn’t have to pay for is amazing. I gave it two stars simply because that’s what it deserves. It’s twice as good as the food in the convention center but that’s not saying a whole hell of a lot. Overpriced and overrated.

Don’t go too late… at close to 8 pm there was a 45 minute wait. Since it would have taken at least as long to get a cab and then wait at a restaurant somewhere in the city, we rolled with it. Over 45 minutes later, we got a table… only to be told that they were only serving the buffet at that point. At least it wasn’t totally picked over, and what there was(Chicken marsala, mashed potatoes, green salad with some dressing options, fresh fruit, israeli couscous) was decent for a buffet, and fairly warm. Still, it was annoying that after such a long wait we did not have a choice. Going somewhere else probably would have been preferable.
