I really want to like this place… really. 3rd time we’ve tried this place out of convenience but this time it’s over. The food is not freshly grilled… it can’t be. The meat was so dried out and cold by the time I got home it was like shoe leather. It was on my table no more than 15 minutes after she handed me the bag. No moisture in the meat at all. Jerky. The most expensive plate, the Mixed Grill got me 2… maybe 3 ping pong ball sized pieces of dry chicken, an overcooked Keftka strip and a few small almost inedible pieces of beef. We’re talking about maybe 1⁄3 lb. of meat. The hummus was watery… weird. The chicken shawarma was better but the pieces are really tiny and as was the portion. 2 adults and one child were hungry afterwards, and no, we are not big eaters. And it’s expensive. 2 dinners with one(small for Chicago gyro standards) gyro sandwich, was over $ 30. $ 30 and we were looking in the fridge for leftovers.

Just moved into the neighborhood, and I wish I didn’t have to write a poor review for this place, but I do. Always walk by and it is empty or maybe one or two people inside. They do a little bit of everything there it seems: Mediterranean, American, burgers, tacos, etc. I ordered a Greek salad and a side of falafel via telephone and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. So, when I arrive the owner/cook gal was doing dishes in the back. The place seems unclean especially in the food prep area I could see over the counter. She hadn’t even started my order. I guess she was waiting to see if I actually showed up to begin? So, I waited, and waited, and waited some more… not even kidding I waited at least 20 minutes and maybe even closer to a half hour or my simple order. Greek salad was just okay, nothing special. Falafel pieces were good, but not great. Place was a disappointment as I don’t think it is clean, and question the freshness and quality of the food. The wait? The wait is ridiculous as well. Bummed this place is not a winner as I live so close to it, but I won’t be going back. Hope a better restaurant moves in there soon.

This place can’t handle more than one order at a time. I waited more than 30 minutes for an order I placed with 4 items. When I got home I opened my bag to find only 3 items. I would usually check my order before I leave but I wanted to get going asap after wasting almost an hour of my time there. Great place to visit if you’re looking to waste your afternoon and pay for food that you may not get, also, if you enjoy eating some of the items you ordered while being very angry, this is your place.

I had the misfortune of ending up at this place the other day. the space-like emptiness of the diner should have been my first clue, the indifferent mexican cook trying to make Mediterranean food second. I proceeded to order a chicken schwarma sandwich and took it home. Needless to say it was not a chicken schwarma. It was wet and sloppy roll with salt as its primary ingredient. Had to make me Ramen that night.

The combination plate(kefta chicken beef shish kabob) & hummus was pretty good for fast food. It’s very convenient for us so I’m sure we will be back.

I had the chicken shawerma sandwich when I went last. The other grilled plates are very tender and tasty as well. Not at all expensive. I love this place. Ohh, and their cheese fries and bacon cheeseburger are awsome too.

Well we are done with this place. Below is the experience my boyfriend had tonight. I ordered Stella tonight and was treated very poorly. Grubhub emailed me saying it would be ready at 6:45. I got to Stellas at 6:45 and the guy said he didn’t have any order I showed him the e-mail from Grubhub on my phone that said I ordered it and paid for it with my credit card. He then very aggressively said to me, «Why would you order online?!» I was pretty surprised by his tone. He said(again very aggressively), «You order over the phone, you don’t under online! I don’t have your order.» I explained to him that I’d already been charged. He then gave me a lecture about how he doesn’t take online orders and that a real person calls to place a food order. When he was finally done telling me how dumb it is to order food online he said, «I’ll give it to you this one time but never again online.» He said it as if he was doing me a favor even though I had already paid for the food. What a jerk. I’m definitely never going to Stella again..

I haven’t been here in quite a while so I’m not sure if the quality of the food has changed. When I went I ordered a veggie burger and my friend got the hotdogs. I absolutely loved my veggie burger, it was not a Boca or Morningstar party they just threw in the microwave and served. Nope, it was homemade and tasted amazing. Too bad I’m no longer in the area, but if I get a carving for a veggie burger, I’ll definitely head here.

Nice little carry-out place, although there are tables if you want to dine in. Good selection of standard fare — burgers, chicken sandwiches, shrimp basket, fries, etc. But also some MIddle Eastern fare — shawarma, falafel, etc. The food is prepared when you order and is ready pretty quickly. My only complaint is they close«early»(8pm) and I think they’re closed Monday or Sunday or something … either way, it took three tries to go there before I got there when they were actually open.

Omg! So I heard from the reviews on Unilocal that the chicken tacos and gyro are great here. I have to say the chicken tacos were delicious with the green Mexican sauce. The gyro was so tasty. Food was fresh!

Today: 100 F outside. Inside Stella’s: 110 F. Then why the heck is the gyros still sitting out there in the heat. Ugh. And I was hungry for Gyros. So I ordered the Italian beef. Pretty good.

The gyro was very good, and the lady who took my order was very nice. I ordered the onion rings instead of fries, which is very atypical for me, and I didn’t like them that much. It was questionable whether there was actually any onion in there. But again, the gyro was excellent. I’d like to try their falafel, babganoush, etc., but it will be hard to resist ordering the gyro if I’m ever in the area again.

Delivery was very quick at around 3pm right around the time the infamous blizzard of ’11 started. I ordered a chicken sandwich it was pretty forgettable. My boss ordered a gyro. It looked old and disgusting and he described the meat like it were actually taken off the gyro skewer cooking thing and put on the grill, it was really charred. I’d probably order here again just to give it another chance.

Is this place fancy pants? No. Did I wait a bit? Yes. Did I get a cheap, filling, freshly made meal? Yes indeed. Though my falafel urge was calling me, I ended up with a chicken shish tawook plate. Boyfriend got a falafel sandwich. We needed something quick, cheap, and tasty before hitting up a show at Martyr’s where I spent way too much money on drinks. Damn me. Anyway… my chicken plate was good, freshly grilled, and more than enough to eat, with chicken, rice, salad, pita, and tahini. Boyfriend really likes their falafel. We waited a bit, even though it wasn’t busy b/c they made the food to order, but luckily we had Pat Sajak’s right wing, plastic faced self to entertain us. Gotta love Wheel.

This place was saved from 1 or 2 stars by the fact that the food was really good, and in the end, that means a lot to me. I got the Mediterranean combo, and the steak was really, really tender and tasty. That sort of made the meal, which also had some good grilled chicken and something that I forget the name of. Lots of rice and stuff-too much, really – to go with. Just not a very nice place to eat, just a carry out joint that hasn’t been renovated since they opened it years and years ago. That’s in itself fine – I eat at a lot of dives – but the people weren’t friendly at all, the food took a long time(I was the only person there, too), and the real kicker: No bathrooms. Nothing like stopping for a big meal, having to go, then having to fend for yourself and find a toilet. Carry something out if you need shawarma or falafel, but don’t stay. Just don’t expect an experience.

I’ve been to this place twice. It is only a few blocks away from my apartment. The first time I went was quite a while ago; I just got a hot dog. Then recently I noticed that they put up a sign ‘Mediterranean Food’ and a pic of falafel, among other things. So I went to try the falafel sandwich. Pretty good really. Not Semirami’s but ok. Total about $ 4. and change.

I work really close so I wanted to go get a quick lunch to take back to the desk and I’m a big fan of local shops so I gave it a try. I got the most simple thing ever grilled cheese and onion rings(I know weird combo). They were both just horrible. The onion rings were like BK onion rings, not the good ones that have real onions like most of these little shops do. And the grilled cheese tasted more like the burnt stuff they made it on then it did a grilled cheese. Even though it’s literally the most convient thing to eat at lunch I’ll skip it in the future!

I’ve eaten at this place several times in the past month and overall not a bad place to grab a quick bite to eat. The best meal there is the chicken tacos…, the gyros are not bad either, just don’t finish it on the grill. If I had one piece of constructive critism to give, it would be to ACCEPTCREDIT/DEBIT CARDSFORPAYMENT.

If I could give this place 2.5 stars, I probably would. There’s really nothing too special about it, just your standard Vienna Beef hot dog joint. Their menu is large, includes your hot dogs, pizza puff, polish, burgers, chicken, gyros, deep fried mushrooms, fries, etc. The fries were kind of like McDonald’s, but not quite. The hot dog buns didn’t have poppy seeds, which was kind of a bummer. I’m guessing that they get most of their business from St. Ben’s school across the street.
