Ordered khichadi and was served yellow rice. No dal of any kind– simply a yellow rice. When I brought it to their attention they refused to acknowledge. Save your money and go somewhere else.

RUDE. rude. beyond rude! I’m not sure if they’re going for the«we don’t want you here» attitude but I sure as hell felt it with the way the people who work there spoke to us, and the mess the restaurant was in, the tables and floor were sticky, the tables and chairs were out of order, napkins were nowhere to be found(and those who know how sticky desi sweets are will truly understand the uncomfortable feeling). Only came to bring parents sweets back from Chicago, and although I didn’t try any of the sweets because everything had dairy in it, I did try a vegetable samosa and that too wasn’t pleasant. Just an awful experience for my first time on the famous Devon street! However I do plan to avoid this place next time, and try the few other sweet shops there.

This place has a great option for savory snacks and sweets both. The owner was very sweet and was very helpful. We bought chorafali, roasted cashews and Cham Cham. Cham Cham was really bad. After trying sweets from almost all the sweet shops on Devon avenue, I have realized that not even one shop on Devon avenue serves good milk based sweets. Roasted cashews and chorafali tasted good. I would like to try their chaat items on my next visit.

Let’s start with positives… The sweets were amazing to taste with great variety. The dosa, sev Puri, pain Puri were all way below expectations. They all lacked flavor and was very moderate in taste. The staff were also reluctant to take back food when I pointed out that the dosa was wet and crumpled. Very bad experience

Don’t go her unless you’re trying to eat microwaved, stale food. I ordered the aloo tikki chat and mango lassi. The aloo tikki was sitting there for who knows how long, the lady microwaved if and just threw yogurt and chutneys on it. Their counter where they make the food is purely disgusting. The chaat tasted stale and not good at all. They have various other items such as idli, wada that have been sitting there and I noticed when they get an order, the food is microwaved and served. Terrible food and terrible service.

DON’T GOHERE!!! NEITHER the FOODNOR the SERVICE is nice here. We went here with really high expectations and were highly disappointed with the service and the food. The food was pathetic. The abysmal service made our experience even worse. We ordered pani puri and the pani was so cold that we couldn’t even enjoy the taste of pani puri. Chhola bhatura was a huge disappointment. Food was so cold and we asked the hostess for lemon to go with chhola bhatura which we never got. Terrible experience.

I sorely miss good Mumbai street-food and I am aware Midwest USA is not the place to find a suitable substitute. That being said: Bhel is made with farsan and chick peas which tastes off. Plus the chutneys were poured over it(the correct way is to mix it well), making the top soggy and the bottom dry. If you’re not familiar with Indian street food, this place is fine, however if you’re craving for the real deal this is not it.

What a great experience here. We came in for one item: jalebi. Wound up given samples by the most enthusiastic young man — could tell he was the owner’s son as he had a real love of the business. We wound up buying much more than expected & having lunch. This is the attitude that makes small businesses so special.

Average food, at best! We have been here a couple of times, only because we were shopping in the vicinity and got really hungry. It is not a place where you’d like to plan a trip to. There are more decent eating options available in the vicinity. A win for this place is that it is the only Indian fast food joint. The others in vicinity are all restaurants. And so, if you are low on time, this can be a doable option. About Food: Fair warning — Their ‘kadhi’ is not Punjabi style. It is Maharashtrian style, so order with caution as they don’t mention it anywhere. Pav Bhaaji was only decent. I can cook one better myself. And the paavs are not actual paavs. They are American sliders, and don’t really go well with bhaaji. The only good thing was their gobhi parantha which was definitely above average. It is quite huge in size, and cannot be finished by one person alone. So order carefully!

Two of us got upset stomach, we guess it was from their sambar, we’re the only ones got sick in our party and only ones who had the sambar. Vada is bland, Idli was watery, chutney was sweet, and dosa was completely bland. Nice people though, we won’t go back.

Very colorful and inviting interior beckons all to step inside. While their are quite a few negative comments listed, my experience at Sukhadia’s was the opposite. The pastry and sweets were very good as was the hot coffee. I enjoyed my visit and will return again.

Worst customer service. We ordered samosa chat, they served very cold samosa, when asked to serve hot samosa, they left me puzzled with bad response.

Not a place we return to frequently unless we’re buying some dry packed snacks! Their fresh foods seem to sit there a while, they have off combos of food items, and the bhel puri was really soggy.

I went here again today and I must say it was a lot more quieter. Thank god there was not a huge line up! Also the man working there last time was not present but there was a really nice lady! I got the masala dosa and chaat papri — unfortunately they were out of pani puri. I must say the dosa was pretty good and as was the chaat papri. Overall, a completely different experience than the last time I was here which is a relief!

Sweets were gross with the exception of the baklava. The fully dressed samosa was good. The smoothie was okay. The cashier helped me choose what to get because nothing was in English. Definitely not catered to non-Indians.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I had seen advertisements on Indian television channels for Sukhadia’s. We attempted to buy meethi from Sukhadia’s for a sweet sixteen party, but the order was cancelled. When I moved to Chicago, I made it a point to come to Devon Ave and try Sukhadia’s. Since my first visit, I have been coming back to pick up pounds upon pounds of Indian sweets. I always pick and choose what I want in each box, and the staff is always patient with me. They let me try samples of sweets I seem unsure about-especially the chumchums. Having grown up where Punjabi and South Indian sweetmakers are the norm, my parents and extended family relish the boxes of Gujarati sweets I bring home on each trip. I like the sweet boxes because each piece fits into its own square in the box. This means the sweets can be shipped and will not stick together in high pressure and heat environments. I haven’t tried their chaat yet because Annapurna is across the street, but I can recommend the sweets.
