Hands-down my favorite lunch place in Eastern Logan Square, and my Top 3 local night spots. You wouldn’t know it from the looks of the place, but the food there is some of the best in town. The menu changes with the seasons, but they’re never quick to get get rid of popular staples. Try the burger, the benedicts and the scrambles. As for being a bar /nighttime hangout, it’s also quite an excellent local dive. It’s clean enough, but not polished, so it still has that«local hangout» feel. beer selection is decent(I’d guess 20 – 25 options). No tap, as it’s maybe more of a café than a bar. Nevertheless, they’ve also got an interesting liquor selection if you’re looking for some modern tastes. For drunk food, the chilaquiles and«totchos»(***TATERTOTNACHOS!!***) are unrivaled. There’s almost always at least one owner there, hanging out, trying out changes, and generally really giving a crap about what’s going on. They’re all longtime bartenders /industry people, and you can tell they invested in this place because this is such a part of who they are. Their love of these kinds of places really shows. They’re all cool people in their own way, and are never too busy to have a beer and chat with you for a while. The clientele is definitely very representative of this pocket of Logan Square. It never gets too«hipstery»(never actually comes close), unlike other nearby places. It’s primarily full of local musicians and other people who have lived here for quite a while, so none of the new garbage that’s making it’s way in. Most of them are very friendly and open to making new friends and sharing their stories about the town, so definitely a very, very cool local spot.

Had a burger before a music event in their next door music venue, and it was delicious. Definitely surprised by how perfect it was.

Worst breakfast experience by far. Came at noon, ended up being here an hour and a half before getting served. Food came out in 4 disjointed waves. They made errors on the bill 4 times. The food was bland and undercooked. Save your time.

The name and the menu are a good match. Very colonial of them. As problematic as that sounds, their savory pancake and the vegan chorizo were quite the hit. The savory pancake was creamy and very flavorful, the egg on top is the perfect icing. The vegan chorizo was modeled off an Indian meal of aloo poori — as oily as it was– great flavors and way to take an Indian dish and Americanize it– colonial much? They also brought a bowl of water out for our doggie 5 stars for that!

This place has a great location and a nice patio and the inside smells like feet vs. gizzards. It’s a horrible smell! Is it mold? Cat pee? Dirty bar rags? I don’t want to wait to find out. See ya never!

On the plus side, Township is one of those local bars you can always get a seat. On a street littered with hot spot type bars & restaurants that are packed to the brim full hipsters and foodies, Township is a nice oasis of calm. They have some outdoor sidewalk seating which is just lovely for those warm days with a nice breeze. My friends and I stopped for a drink and when we sat down, I asked if they had draft beers. The server told me yes… but she wasn’t sure what… the best thing to do would be to check to the chalboard inside. They have mostly the standard local craft beers like Anti Hero, Akari Shogun, etc. so I picked a Ale Syndicate from the draft list. It came out in a bottle which was disappointing but oh well. We didn’t stay past the one beer at Township because it didn’t Shania Twain impress us much. They have some interesting food options on the menu so I could see coming back here for brunch. We asked our server when they closed and they weren’t quite sure but though about 2am. The servers seemed very nice but they didn’t seem to know much of anything about the place. I’m sure I’ll be going to Township more since my friend lives just a couple of doors down, but wouldn’t rely on it for amazingness.

Just finished a Township Burger to go. That was one damn good burger. Seriously. Seriously. I’m sort of a burger snob, and this was probably the best damn burger that I’ve ever had. So juicy. So very juicy. And the flavors was uh-maz-balls!!! And the fries? Say whaaaattt!!! Soooo good! So very, very good. I don’t know. I don’t really have anything else to add. I’ve never been for drinks or bands or anything here so I can’t speak to that. But if you’re hungry, you can’t go wrong with the burger.

Fantastic Brunch! Fantastic Neighborhood! Fantastic Atmosphere! No Wait Time! That sounds like my kind of place… What’s crazy is that we stumbled upon this place and checked it out on a whim. Love checking out places out on a whim and they end up being spectacular. I ordered the House Kale and Pineapple Juice and the Savory Pancakes. The savory pancakes had a blend of Kale and Carrots intertwined in the pancakes. This particular blend of Juice was phenomenal and simply refreshing. The savory pancakes were to die for and covered in this incredibly tasty Hollandaise Sauce. It reminded me of a pancake version of Eggs Benedict but better! The bonus was the extremely dreamy waiter who made sure we had everything we needed. Even the bathroom was incredible because it had an awesome display of all the upcoming events. Apparently Township is known for their awesome entertainment. So on top of having delicious food you have the option to listen to bands and local musicians. Logan Square is just that type of neighborhood that is consistently growing with great restaurants and stores. Township just happens to be one of them. Wish more places like this existed!

Check out my photos, they speak volumes. The owner chef stopped by, introducing himself and recommending all we ordered. The avocado toast is a must as an app. The bread they use is not your regular toast or bun bread. All grains yummi. They buy their food at local grocers and cater to everyone whether you are vegan, gluten free or meat eater. I had also the turkey panini which was great. Def recommend and will be back. Our server Jesse was a sweetheart, very smiley and friendly. They apparently have bands and live music in the back space that I would like to check out in the near future.

I’ve seen this place transition from good ol’ Panchos to this holy hipster haven. I can’t hate on it since I’ve had countless fun times in the venue portion of Township, woweeeee. The drinks are really good and decently priced. Unfortunately I think their brunch is just meh. Don’t love it, don’t hate it.

Township has been around for awhile now, and seems to still be in existence. They have stopped booking bands and started booking bands again. At one point I think the ethos was to book any band that wanted to play there– perhaps it still is. That being said, if you’re in a local band and want to invite your friends to drink there and listen to you, go for it dude! They still serve food, although according to news reports and the rumor mill of EveryBlock, there have been a string of major health code violations. This is unfortunate because their brunch food was so delicious! The cook is from the former Treat which was a short-lived Indian-American fusion restaurant in Humboldt Park that I really loved. Their brunch kept the Indian cooking influences with an American style menu. Things like samosas, chai syrup, sag paneer omelets as well as benedicts and hash browns. As far as I’m concerned it’s not a good place to eat anymore after that bad news came out, plus the bathroom is dirty and dark, poorly stocked. I want to keep supporting them, but let this review be a warning to get it together guys!

We’ve been in Logan Square for about 5 years now. In that time, the neighborhood has undergone an amazing transformation. When we moved in, there were a couple of decent bars and restaurants, but nothing like it is now. Township is one of those transformations. After it changed from a Cuban joint, it became a hipster haven for music and food with an Indian flair. When our son was barely a year old, we braved our first family brunch outing. Since Chicago is a big brunch city and Township was nearby, we went for it. We had a delightful brunch surrounded by other families enjoying the summer. Over time, we’ve continued to have family dinner outings at Township. The staff is warm and very kid friendly. The menu’s changed a bit over time to include some delicious sandwich options like a tasty fish sandwich with capers and pickled onions. My husband orders the burger or turkey panini often. Their fries are kid crack. Our son loves them. We like coming here for a low key dinner or brunch with our son. The food and the staff are nice and welcoming as they are with other customers and regulars.

Usually not crowded for brunch– this is good if you don’t feel like waiting at jam or revolution, but there’s a reason it’s not crowded. Brunch is meh. The floor is really cool. Haven’t been there for anything else other than brunch(twice, each time as unmemorable as the other) tho it seems like there are occasionally decent shows. Brunch verdict: Logan square has too many good food options to waste your time here, but if all you want is a place to sit and some food to eat, this place can provide both in a reasonable amount of time.

Township has to be one of my favorite places to see a local show in Chicago. But they also put on shows with more well known bands. I can’t believe I will be seeing Braid here in less than a week! The room where the bands play is pretty intimate if you ask me. It’s not a huge room so you are pretty close to the stage no matter what. You do want to avoid standing closer to the back of the room since you can’t really escape the smells that escape the bathroom. I also hate that there isn’t a barrier of some sort to make the bathroom seem hidden. The light from them tend to be distracting. Another perk to Township is their amazing food and beer selection. Lately I have been really into Steighl, which they have! And their drinks specials are seriously mind blowning. I highly recommend the Unicorn Blood Orange: Dark matter espresso, kahlua, stoli orange vodka, simple syrup, espresso dust. Always a good time, good location. Definitely come here if you want a great night!

CRAZYHIPSTERSEVERYWHERE I came here only to drink before heading home. I tried a fireball shot which tastes like cinnamon and a random beer with an owl on it. I’ll probably go back to try the food.

Ever had a hankering for tequila-infused honey-baked ham? Well, there’s a cocktail here called ‘Rochambeau’ and that’s exactly what it tastes like. Sure, it sounds gross-ish but it was actually pretty great. It’s just blending the food your family always has at Easter(that nobody actually wants to eat) with the alcohol you most need to put up with your family, but that nobody typically has handy on those holy days. Okay, technically it’s made with Mezcal, so that’s where that smoky flavor comes in, and mixed with a touch of grapefruit, serrano pepper, hibiscus basil syrup, and a lemon wedge. Even if you’re like me and not at all a fan of honey-baked ham or the family Easter gatherings they were made for, the cocktail was good… especially if you’re looking for a lite meal in a drink. I came here on a Monday night just shy of 10pm to see a band(Gloom Balloon) play and was pretty blown away by the talent this little place had scored. The room for band to perform is standing room only… which is typically my least favorite kind of room because I’m lazy, especially with a jacket and drink to hold, but it did end up paying off in the form of a mega-interactive show. I don’t think there was a single person in the crowd who wasn’t touched(literally and figuratively) by the band… in a good/not creepy way. The cover was $ 8 and we got our got our hands stamped by a friendly guy behind a podium. There is a tiny built in bar in the room the band plays but on the night we peeped a show they just had a sign up asking you to use the main bar, which was totally fine because the restaurant and main bar had plenty of space and perhaps the most commendable bartenders in all of Logan Square. Honestly, before Township I don’t think I’ve ever been to a bar in Logan Square where the bartender didn’t act like I was invisible during at least my first 8-minutes belly up to the bar, so this was a glorious change of pace. The beer and cocktail menu was great with prices right in line the market. I can’t speak to how it is during daytime hours, but it’s incredibly dim-lit at night so you can get by with little to no make-up and not feel like the elephant man. Not pretentious at all and parking was a cinch. A win in my book.

The Township is a fantastic music venue/restaurant bar. The venue and bar area are separted so if you don’t want to hang out at show and just eat dinner you can! The food was really good and they serve it late! I ordered some Vegan Samosas at 11pm after we played. I love a venue that has food! The staff was great, excellent door guy, booking guy, bartender, Sound guy! Everyone was super nice! As far as the music venue goes it’s a good size room with excellent sound! They run the shows on time and keep things rolling! The drinks are pretty affordable and it’s in a cool area of town! All in all this place pretty much rules!

Township is the sh**! I live a couple blocks from Township and have primarily passed by for brunch. I brought my parents here on my wedding weekend, had it the day after my wedding(hangover helper) and on a random weekday. The urryday brunch hours are awesome and never waiting for a seat is the best. When I first brought my parents, it was about 80 degrees out and we were cooling off with fans. There wasn’t AC and my parents asked, «What is this, Cuba?» They don’t know about hipster life. After we drank a bunch of water, they calmed down. That time I had the saag paneer scramble which is pretty dope. I’m all about Indian food 24⁄7 but I was a little turned off by the super greasy pooris, basically 2 deep fried pieces of bread. It’s traditional so I can’t hate but the potato cake that accompanies most dishes is just ok. The other times, I’ve had the seitan scramble and salmon benedict. My hubby loves the breakfast burrito and steak benedict but his loyalty lies with the steak benedict at Feast. The convenience to our place definitely makes it worth it as well as the people watching in the area. I would definitely recommend anyone passing by especially if you don’t want to wait up to an hour at other popular Logan Square spots. I keep telling myself to pass by for something other than brunch and to hear some cool live music. When/if the temp gets above 50, I will make it happen!
