Even though Wolfys is sooooo close to not being Chicago and being in Lincolnwood I cannot help but call it a Chicago staple. I recommend a Chicago style dog and a chicken sandwich, grilled not fried. They have the most juicy and tender chicken. Idk how they do it. Most spots like this I would NEVER deviate from a burger or hot dog, but wolfys is super good and delivers. Fries are Bomb too. 5 stars all day.

This place is as good as it was since I was at Mather High School in 2001. Quality and service is still awesome. Keep up the awesome work!

Best cheeseburger i have ever tasted. If you go get the Oreo milkshake and a cheeseburger with cheese fries. The #8 it’s to die for and it tastes so good. Plus for the price you pay it’s not bad at all. Staff is nice and hard working. Go and try their hot dogs. So good!

Wolfy’s is a Chicago institution and will always be at the top of my list for a great hot dog. Originally drawn in by the GIANTHOTDOG sculpture, I’ll be drawn back again and again by the quick service, casual atmosphere and delicious food. From chi-dogs to italian beef to shoestring fries, everything they offer is delicious greasy comfort food. I want it now!

Great for burgers! I’ve not tried the full menu, but I’ve had the freshly flame grilled burgers repeatedly. Beware: It takes time to fry up a fresh burger. So don’t go if you are in a rush, but it’s so worth the wait if you have the time. The place can also get busy around the lunch time, and, after school hours, as it’s located across the street from Mather High School. So, be prepared to encounter droves of wild, hungry teens from time to time. LOL It’s a cool place!

That’s a GREAT hod dog!!! Wolfy’s is a Chicago landmark and deserves all of the good praise it gets! Went on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was packed with families. That’s always a good sign to me! The dog was an all beef Vienna Beef, so you know it was just about perfect! Typical Chicago-style toppings and a hot batch of fries to go along with it. The prices are more than fair too… I’ll be back Wolfy’s!!!

All round good food. Gets busy at lunchtime– the place is fast with the orders so it makes sense. Had the Italian beef, fries and a drink which sets you back just under 10 bucks. The beef was good and flavorful, didn’t care much for the bread– seemed tough. The fries are fantastic. Ample seating inside and a friendly staff. I’d go back.

Diagonally across from Mather Park on the corner of California and Peterson, there’s a «wolf» in disguise. To be explicit, hubby and I saw the trace of CPD vehicle and assumed that these officers were going to tackle the wolf’s dungeon. CPD may not be the most honest bunch to tell their citizens the truth, but they certainly don’t hide their hungry bellies. «Wolfy’s» is the West Rogers Park represent. As much as I wanted to befriend with Wolfy’s, I didn’t find the food to be too exciting. I have to say that their wolf master at Wolfy’s knew how to calculate the mark-ups to achieve the profitable margins. Think about this me, my friends. If a single hot dog is charged for $ 2.39 and a hot dog combo costs $ 5.39, including an order of regular-sized fries and drink. That means the fries/drink portion of the meal is worth three(3) bucks. Knowing my numbers and how to efficiently budget my lunch, I would say forgo the combo option and get a milk shake instead. The taste of fries was nothing to write home about. The protagonist, Chi-town style hot dog, was dressed appropriately, including that magic celery salt. For some reason, it didn’t stand out like it should. I sampled a piece of hubby’s Italian beef. It preferred the home-style, with a little bit of chewiness. Wolfy’s IB definitely is the«floss-free» kind. It was tender and the remnants wouldn’t stay in between your teeth, yet«decent» was the best adjective for describing this. Ample free parking and comfy booth made Wolfy’s pass the four(4)-star curve. Otherwise, the Chicago Transit Authority provides #84(Peterson) bus for your convenience.

Food is fast but it’s better than fast food. The guy at the counter looked at me like I was nuts when I ordered a dog with mustard only but that’s what I like. Cheese fries were good. Basically cheese sauce on thin fries. Pepsi products though I had a Dr Pepper. For 1:30 on a Wednesday, this place was hopping. Diverse crowd age wise from kids to retirees. Decent lot parking. ESPN with low volume on in one corner. One of the other ESPNs on in the other corner. Good place for a quick bite. I’ll be back.

Ordered a dog, fries, and a drink for around $ 6. Food was good and not much of a wait. Only complaint is the fries needed extra salt. Cops love to hang out here for whatever reason. Every time I go there’s at least five cops which makes me paranoid even though I know I’m not doing anything. Bathroom is in the back of the kitchen so it is a bit awkward to get to, but from what I saw of the kitchen it did look pretty clean. There is a small parking area which is a plus.

On a recent visit to Chicago we sampled several hot dog establishments. I thought Wolfy’s was the best of the bunch. Classic dog with all the required elements — Vienna beef, poppyseed bun, unnatural colored relish, sport peppers, celery salt, etc. Good fries too. My wife preferred Gene’s and Jude’s, but I disqualified them for lack of poppy seeds and relish that looked too conventional in color(but they were good). We both placed Wolfy’s above Mustard’s Last Stand. Wolfy’s is also clean and bright, with comfortable booths and ample parking. Prices are good too.

Great Chicago style Vienna beef Hot Dogs with all the trimmings(green relish, tomato, onion, pickle and sport peppers). Fries are fresh and crispy. Clean atmosphere, comfortable seating, and fairly quick service even when they’re busy. Prices are on point for the means.

Brough my girlfriend to Chicago to visit my parents. On our short list of things to do was to get an authentic Chicago Style Hot Dog. This was the closest authentic place to my parent’s place. It did not fail to deliver. As soon as you pull into the parking lot you smell the deliciousness inside. And inside was exactly what you want in a hotdog joint, no frills, simple but everything done right. The list of toppings on the hotdog were exactly what they should be. The hotdog was perfect, delicious and every topping spot on, The celery salt was the key to me, and it was perfect. Overall the exact quintessential chicago hot dog experience.

Every time I am even near Chicago, my thoughts go to Wolfy’s. Their hot hogs are perfect. The snappy outside crunch, with the soft sesame bun. It does not matter what you get on the dogs, it is all fresh & delicious. The burgers are moist, juicy & so very flavorful. I love their french fries, the perfect cook. They are tan & crispy on the outside & light and flaky on the inside. Eat them plain or get them loaded up with all the toppings. Let’s not forget onion rings. These are lightly battered, deep fried, not greasy«O’s» from the Angels themselves. It doesn’t matter if I am only in the area for the day, I get there just as quick as I can & always look forward to my next visit. What’s a girl to do? Ya gotta love Great All American food!

A Northsider’s POI(point of interest). For anyone that grew up in the area or attended Mather HS, they might have a «soft spot» for Wolfy’s. It’s your typical char house with all the usual favorites. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, pizza puffs, Italian beef, gyros, etc etc. What was once a cheap-eats kind of place twenty years ago, now costs close to ten bucks for a food combo.(Depending on what is ordered) There are also some interesting choices on beverage, like Green river! Food is alright if you don’t mind the stuff that’s cooked from frozen. It ain’t gourmet but it’s fast, it’s typical and will fill the belly on demand.(Sometimes when it’s busier, you might notice a box of frozen something that was left out.) Wolfy’s has always been known for their great signage. A large two-pronged fork with a sausage. Their red hots are Vienna beef hot dogs and they are prepared Chicago style. But are they so great that there is a reason to come and try it? Hardly. If wanting to get a tasty encased meat, try the char-grilled Polish with all the trimmings. You’ll find some flavors there. (Don’t read that the dirty way, pervs!) **It should be noted that the original owners sold the business before 2k. Before that time, they were a(one of a few) preferred red hots vendor on the Northside. They had this original location as well as a small offering at the Lincolnwood Mall food court and another location in Rogers Park. Their hot dogs had been sold at the nearby little league stadium(Formerly known as Thillens stadium) which continues to host said business year after year.
