This is my favorite place in Chico for breakfast. Cute diner type restaurant with a homey feel. Many locals seems to be frequent visitors(seeing as how you can leave one of your coffee cups for them to hang on the ceiling awaiting your next visit). I’ve ordered quite a few different dishes and I’ve had the same conclusion about them all: delicious. The poppy seed French toast was oddly great. The sausage comes in large servings and is well seasoned and scrumptious. The huevos rancheros(large servings) was very tasty. They have many options for people who are vegetarian/enjoy more refined eats. I’ve always had great service here. Expect a little wait on the weekends. That little wait will turn into a satisfied and full stomach!

Basic breakfast. They kept coffee mugs full and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the potatoes were bland and my toast came unbuttered. I asked for extra butter but it never seemed to make it to the table. Their eggs were buttery and light which was nice. Basic breakfast.

Good food and service, large portions and reasonably priced. Can’t say anymore than that.

Hands down favorite breakfast place to eat. Only complaint is the noise inside as its small and voices echo so it gets a bit loud. Out side area is reccomended. Manager is awesome and staff very friendly

Stopped by on our way through town to try something new based on the Unilocal reviews. The food was pretty good. Worth the stop. But the service not so much. Forgot the coffee. Had to go get it myself. Never refilled it. Portion sizes are large. Enough to share. Worth one stop.

This is a great breakfast spot. I came most recently on Sunday, and was expecting a wait since it was the weekend. The wait was only about 10 minutes, and as soon as we were seated, someone took our drink order. Our waitress was very attentive, asked if we needed anything else, how our food was, etc. Even though they’re busy they don’t make you feel rushed and the food is good quality, so you get what you pay for.

My boyfriend and I came here for a late breakfast and we were not disappointed! There was a little bit of a wait time but that was to be expected given it was a Sunday. The staff was very friendly and attentive even with a packed house. My boyfriend ordered an omelet with potatoes and a bagel. The omelet filled half the plate and the potatoes were cooked just right, no hard pieces at all. I ordered the huevos rancheros, the first time ever, and it did not disappoint! The portion was HUGE. I opted to add chorizo for an extra charge but the portion size was more than enough for the price. We were both very satisfied with the service and food. Will definitely return in the future!

There’s nothing like Veggie-taters to cure what ails you, their service and coffee can’t be beat.

This is one of my all time favorite places to eat, ever since I was a little kid. There can be a good wait time but my god is it always worth it. The staff is always nice, and the food is always outstanding. You will never regret going here.

Came here on a recommend when we were visiting from out of town. We’ll typically visit Black Bear, but in my opinion, Black Bear is over rated. Average food but with huge portions. That’s probably the only positive. Anyway, we came here with open minds and were pleasantly surprised. We got one of the bagels with a eggs and all that stuff on it and an order of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were good, but too salty. It had nice large chunks of sausage in it and the potatoes helped with the saltiness The bagel breakfast sandwich was also very good. It’s been about two weeks so I’m forgetting the finer details, but we both agreed we’d rather come here than Black Bear.

This place has waffles!!! Bunch of breakfast pros over here. Tell Mom’s to eat dog doo and come on over to Morning Thunder Where they serve waffles. Mom’s doesn’t serve waffles.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, the service was outstanding, the food portions were way too big, LOL!, The prices were terrific, the food was fresh, everything was obviously made from scratch with love, and if we had been at home in Seattle, everything would have cost twice as much. The only downside, is that we only stopped here because we were traveling from Seattle to Arizona and probably will never be able to visit this place again. If you’re looking for a fantastic breakfast for a fair price and served with a smile, this is definitely the right choice!!!

Very basic breakfast. I spent a lot of time looking for somewhere to eat this morning seeing as I’m from out of town. Google gave it 5 stars and Unilocal gave it 4! I did not like the French toast– who changes a classic? The menus said there was poppy seeds on top which I didn’t mind. But where is the cinnamon, and the bread looked like a piece of toast :/ The service was great though!

I came here with my friends H and E after I finished running 4.3 mi, so I was quite hungry. I splurged on the highly recommended California egg(omelette with avocado, Swiss cheese, and TWO pineapple muffins — yes please!) and a Java shake, which had a subtle coffee flavor. I liked it but apparently not H or E — personal preference, I guess? Pro tips: 1. They don’t take reservations, so expect to wait ~15 mins on Sunday at 11am. Sign up for the wait list as soon as you walk in the door. 2. They have a bike parking rack and ample car parking in the lot. 3. The bathroom is awkwardly located outside the restaurant which requires a key to access.

Loved to come for lunch when I have a full day of shopping! Central location makes it easy to get to but during the rush, parking can get dicey. Sandwiches big enough to split, burgers, salads or a full breakfast in this diner setting. Excellent service with a smile.

We were visiting my guy’s family and decided to get brunch in Chico. We decided to try Morning Thunder based on their Unilocal reviews. We sat at a nice big table and ordered up some ice teas and mimosas. They have several different flavors of unsweetened iced tea which were awesome. I love iced tea. They also make my favorite mimosas, the large kind. Since it was nearly lunch, my guy and I ordered two cups of the clam chowder and a BLT with avocado. The bacon is reallllly good here, so the sandwich was off the hook. for a simple BLT. The clam chowder was good too. My guy’s nephew went with the 1−2−3 which was a waffle, two eggs and three bacon. He loved it and ate the whole thing! His sister ordered this dish that looked like a vegetable nacho plate with sour cream and olives on top, that looked pretty good to me. His mom went with the chicken Caesar salad, which was a really big salad. Everyone enjoyed their brunch or lunch at the Morning Thunder Café and we found a new place in town to get the best Mimosas around, the large ones. *wink*
