There is nothing«exotic» looking on the menu but what they make is high quality, fresh and tasty. We passed here on our way back home from a hike. Its located in a strip mall sort of place next to a gas station. We stopped and had a salad and quiche. It didn’t look overly extravagant, but the taste was SOLID and the salad greens were washed and crisp with no brown spots or wilted leaves. We shared a Miel Late.. which was delicious. Love the honey in the cup and it wasn’t overly sweetened. The owner was sweet and friendly and we liked the pleasant atmosphere and décor. Its a large space so it would be good for a small group of people to gather. We’ll definitely stop here again when we’re in the area.

A cozy, comfortable spot, with an inviting atmosphere and laid back vibe. Elka Bee’s is conveniently located in an area devoid of non-chain small business coffee & food. They serve Long Bottom coffee & tea here. The truth is, if you’re a bit of a coffee aficionado looking for an exquisite shot of espresso, or a latte snob in search of flawless micro foam, you won’t find it here. You’ll find an adequate cup of coffee and other beverages such as smoothies, iced teas/lemonade, and so on. My favorite is the Honey Bee Lavender Latte. You can get essentially anything here: a variety of pastries, cold sandwiches on the go, breakfast, and lunch. For me, going here means I’m not going to Starbucks(ick), it’s local, decent, and supports small business. Truly a gem to the city of Happy Valley. Service is often good and always friendly.

This little coffee shop is great! It can be hard to find since it’s in a strip mall. I love lattes, so I ordered a vanilla and caramel latte with two shots and while milk and it was perfect. It was nice to have the option of a paper or ceramic cup. I also wanted ice water, but they have it set up with a jug and glasses at the end of the bar… Which normally wouldn’t be bad, but the water was warm and I don’t trust how clean glasses are when they’re set out like that(I have OCD. Lol!). I ordered their NW Scramble and it was delicious! It wasn’t a very large order, but it didn’t leave me feeling overly stuffed. They also garnished it with some fresh fruit. Looking at the menu, they have the most dairy alternatives I’ve ever seen for a coffee shop: coconut, almond, hemp, soy, and macadamia nut. I highly recommend this place for individuals and small groups(4 or less) due to seating.

I have loved this coffee shop since the first moment I stepped in! Love the décor and the seating, all very stylish and comfortable. It is always packed on the weekends. I dropped by to get coffees for a meeting on a Wednesday afternoon and wished I could have my meeting here instead. Ordered an Iced Vanilla Latte and an Iced Honey Bee Latte(their signature!), and was pretty impressed. I do wish I have ordered a hot Honey Bee Latte instead, the iced version was a little too sweet to my taste, but my coworker totally loved her Vanilla Latte! I enjoyed coming in here to take a break from major coffee chains, more varieties, and more delicious pastries! I love the fact they have breakfasts and sandwich options as well. It is such a perfect place for a nice relaxing brunch. Can’t wait to go back again!

Their coffee is bomb! The caramel macchiato is probably the best I’ve ever had. I’ve also tried the turkey, egg and cheese bagel sandwich, and the omelette scrambler; both are pretty good! The interior is super cute and cozy. This place is located five minutes from my house so I recently started coming here if I need to study and want a yummy cup of coffee. All the workers are friendly and have upbeat personalities, there is a large variety of pastries, and they also serve wine and beer, which is pretty cool. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

Nice! Music isn’t too loud, baristas are friendly and helpful. Gluten free scone is made in-house and tastes delicious! Many menu options can be made gf as well. Sweet place to come for breakfast or a quick cup of coffee.

Friendly place, warm(unlike many restaurants and coffee shops), good music turned low enough that I can tune it out if I want(CCR, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, etc.), and generally not crowded. I’ve been driving by here for years and finally stopped there to work on the laptop for a while. Glad I did! BTW, this is my new #1 spot for a chai tea latte — theirs is a million times better than the syrupy chemicals from Starbucks, and like most local coffee shops I’m sure the rest of their drinks are better as well.

We were looking for a local place for breakfast and had originally disregarded this place since it was located in a small plaza with a gas station and bank. Once we were inside, we immediately regretted never stopping in before. The coffee is great, food is fantastic, and the staff are friendly. The restaurant is much bigger inside than it looks and you truly forget you are in a shopping plaza. Breakfast burrito was incredible and the omelette scramble hits the spot. This will quickly become a regular hangout of ours!

I had to come here after my mom was raving about their fresh scones. I am happy I came. I had a raspberry white chocolate one and a white mocha. Their espresso is strong and yummy. I took a look at their food and it looks really good. I’ll have to come back with someone and have breakfast there. My only complaint is the scone was a tiiiiiny bit burnt.

Super creepy sign out front with a manequin. They need to take that down and look for less awkward ways to advertise!

First time I went the cook was new and took a bit so they threw in an AMAZING pastry– Love their breakfast bagels. Always love spoiling myself to a treat from here! Specialty Coffee is a tad over priced for quality though. But I would have to say Worth the stop!

Some of the employees(maybe owners?) of this place make me feel like I could be their long-lost favorite niece! They are all so sweet and they have so many yummy options to choose from for drinks AND food! Their interior design is SO cute too… Genius business. 5 stars without a doubt!

Teen was not pleasant and borderline depressing. Ordered a dirty chai with coconut milk was like 6 $!! Really??? .60 extra for the coconut milk which btw want told till afterwards was additional charge. I asked for it temped(warm/not as hot as normal) because it burns the coco milk and when I drank it burned my freaking taste budds right off! Since it want properly made now not only does is taste horrible my tongue is swollen I can’t taste anything for the rest of the day. Cute place, but not going back.

Stopped in hopefully because it’s only about a block from BIL’s house. So glad we did! Gals at the counter were super friendly and obviously having fun, making for a cheerful atmosphere. Coffee was delicious & said happy workers cared enough to make it pretty with top notch crema art. Nice variety of sweeteners too(personal hot button). Scrambled were generous — 3 eggs & lots of veggies. Instead of the usual lame garnish(a dedicated orange slice) they gave 2 orange slices plus grapes & raspberries — nicer than what you usually get when you PAY for a side of fruit. Fun décor is way above average for a suburban strip center. Checkin offer was a nice bonus for this lovely little café.

Oh my goodness, where to start? This is a place with true character. Eclectic atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Best latte I’ve ever had and I’m a Starbucks girl! Try the biscuits and gravy or the fruit with yogurt, equally delicious. The front showcase is a jewel box of freshly made pastries and sandwiches, EVENSOMEGLUTENFREE! That in itself is an important plus for my daughter. They use lots of locally sourced products here and the quality shows. Happy Valley has a treasure, discover it for yourself and bring a friend. You will both be delighted!

We enjoy coming to Elka Bees after working out on Saturdays. The scones are so good. The NW scrambler is our favorite post WOD protein boost that tastes great. The service is now consistently at the level of Excellent and the ambience is comfortable enough for 20 – 45 minutes of casual conversation. Haven’t tried coming in the evening for the beer and wine side of the place yet.

This is a cozy coffee shop with comfortable seating and European décor. The recent addition of a breakfast menu will keep me coming back here. Not only because I love to support local business, but because be service and the food are just right! This morning I ordered a veggie omelette. Reasonably priced, fresh ingredients, and tastes great! The selection of pastries will fill your sweet tooth desire. And of course, coffee here is great too. Lots of seating options, a lot more than large chain coffee shops. If you come here for a business meeting or simply to relax, you’ll walk away pleased with a unique coffee shop experience.

Cute little place! It feels very homey and cozy. I love their chai! It’s so delicious, it’s different from the tazo chais. The breakfast sandwiches are very yummy! Staff are also quite friendly! Wishing it was a drive thru or on the other side of the road so it would be quick to grab before work!

I’m skeptical about the validity of Unilocal review accuracy and when I again see they have most of these folk’s 5 stars near the bottom and even bother to post one from some fool who admittedly didn’t pay and thought she was entitled to get away with it proves again my skepticism. Elkabee’s has got to be one of the the MOST well run independent coffee shops anywhere in the Portland area. The décor is first class and the attention to details, including customer service has always been spot on. They deserve 5 stars over any Starbucks. I always try to shop with Locally Owned & Operated businesses first, if I have a choice. These guys are a very good choice in that regard!

Decided to to get coffee somewhere new today and saw that Elkabee offered 20% off coffee drink. The place is cute, but the coffee was bleh. The barista was a little annoyed at me because I forgot to ask my coffee to go. Not sure if I will be coming back.

Wonderful neighborhood coffee shop. The current owners have really stepped it up– the service is phenomenally quick, and my drink is always delicious. I love coming here and feel lucky to live around the corner: if I’m getting a blended drink, I choose an Elkabees Frappé over a Starbucks frappuccino. They have delicious snacks, too. All around great place.

Ah yes … «the Sunnyside Corridor» which, within the last 2 decades, was a 2 lane road east of the freeway and Kaiser Medical Center is now bustling, with 3 lanes of traffic in each direction. Along with that, the businesses at the intersection of Sunnyside and 122nd appear to be doing well. In fact, the previously undeveloped northwest corner of the intersection now has both a new Walgreen’s and a McDonald’s, the latter of which I’ve already reviewed. Elka Bee’s Coffee has been a staple here. It has been in that southeast corner of this major intersection, where there is Chase Bank, Papa Murphy’s pizza, and the only neighborhood gas station away from the freeway. Note that Elka Bee’s used to be called Coffee’s On. Elka Bee’s has a tremendous amount of variety, in drinks, desserts, and things to eat. While I won’t get things to eat at a coffee house and I’m not one for anything beyond basic coffee or tea, their sweet things in the dessert case may catch your eye. They’ve caught my attention and they are indeed good. This place appears to have its regulars. That’s a good sign. It shouldn’t be a surprise. The service is excellent. It’s «the Sunnyside Corridor,» so there won’t be any hipsters sliding a cup of coffee or tea at you in a surly manner. The people who work here are very polite and genuinely friendly, and I’m echoing what others have said in their reviews about Elka Bee’s. The other thing is the funky and humorous Parisian theme inside. Hey, it’s a legitimate attempt! It sure beats cookie cutter corporate. I can’t explain why I’m not giving it a 5. Perhaps it’s because it shares 4 star status with Peet’s, further down Sunnyside, at 162nd. So, if you want the look of a traditional den or study paneled in dark wood, that would be Peet’s down the road. If you want the feeling of being in a Parisian themed coffee house on the most important corner in «the Sunnyside Corridor,» give Elka Bee’s a try.

I was so disappointed with this place. It came highly recommended but it ended up being the perfect storm of terrible. We walked in to several sour faced girls behind the counter. After taking our order, it took them over 10 mins to heat up a couple of pre-made sandwiches. Then set them on the counter for who knows how long and said,” these are yours by the way.” Then I was hoping the food would at least be good. Nope. The chicken was tough and hard to bite in to. 1 star because the pastry was delicious and 1 because the décor and atmosphere was welcoming and cute. Too bad.

Great service. Cozy. Nice seating. The food is good, and they serve Longbottom coffee. I got the ‘NW Scrambler’. Pretty tasty. Portions are just right(don’t expect black bear diner plates). This might be our new Sunday morning spot!

Such a cute little coffee place. The coffee is great & so is the customer service. I’ve gone here multiple times & each time it’s been great! I only have one issue with this place & it’s that they close so early! Overall, it’s a great place!

I was a little confused when the(owner??) made a mistake on my bill and forgot to charge me for my coffee… She stated«WELL, I’ll just charge you more the next time you’re in!!!» and SHEDID!!! How is that my fault??? AND why should I have to pay for her mistake weeks later??? You make a huge profit on your drinks… Charging me $ 3.00 for a cup of coffee is hard to swallow to begin with… but I liked your place and wanted to patronize you business… However, Your Customer-Service is seriously lacking and I am so offended that I may consider never going back!!!
