Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill

Always one of the first stops when I get to Clearwater! Love the grouper sandwiches and view of the beach. She crab soup is delicious during the winter time. Only bad part is paying the meters to park and can get busy. Great place to eat while enjoying the views.

I’ve eaten here several times in the past and it’s always been average at best. It always starts at the door. When I have to swear to the host my guest are walking in to sit down in 2 minutes, and I look back at the door to wave them over and the host has his hands in the air as if to say «where are they», you have a prima-​donna problem. The super grouper cured me of never wanting to order a grouper sandwich ever again. Smallest piece of non-​Cajun fish ever put in a bun. Enough said. Services from waiter was great– probably should have asked for something else.

Our 2^nd time at Frenchy’s and we still love it. Not only is it right on the beach and the view is amazing but it is casual and the food and drinks are delicious. We especially love the oysters, octopus and the oh so awesome Seviche. We love the drinks. We love the service and we wish we weren’t staying in Orlando so we could go here every night. We say every time we come here that we should stay over on the coast so we could go to this restaurant every night. A must if you are in this area. It’s worth the wait. Go early. Stay late.

Delicious food! Had the grouper sandwich and fries. So good. Would have been nice to have a little more attention at the table considering I was out of water and tartar sauce for about 30 min but I understand the place was crazy busy. Still amazing nonetheless. I’ve been before and I’ll be back. So yummy. It was nice getting a high top for a table of 7 in about 10 minutes flat on a busy night and they called me to the hostess stand to see if that was okay for my party so that was much appreciated. Highly recommended! Best seafood on Clearwater beach!

I’ve lived in the Tampa area for over 10 years and I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve been to Frenchys!
My fiancé’ and I had a great experience dining here for lunch during the week while we were out at the beach. We were able to get a nice table outside, service was very good. They have this tuna stuffed avocado appetizer that I got for my meal and it was AWESOME. I’ve never seen something like it and it was so delicious. And reasonably priced too I thought.
Beers aren’t that expensive either. $ 3 – 5
Only downfall is the parking situation around here… we were there on a Tuesday and it took us 15 minutes to find a spot… can’t imagine how it is on the weekends!

We live this place, so do others. The wait time is a little bit, however take singe shorts and enjoy the gulf. We always try to hit it at Sun set, the food is good drinks are better. Price is good. Service has always been above average.

Holy fish nuggets, this place is good! Even though the hostess acted stoned, this place turned out to be an excellent choice for lunch.
We were going to Clearwater Beach for the day and parked in the lot just outside of Frenchy’s, which is $ 1.50 per hour. I’m quite sure there isn’t a private lot for Frenchy’s patrons.
While on the beach that day, I noticed the Frenchy’s wifi network. Unfortunately, the day that we were there, even at the restaurant the wifi wasn’t working.
This place is apparently known for it’s grouper sandwich, but I wasn’t feeling a sandwich, so I ordered the grouper nuggets. Wow! Those were the best fish nuggets that I’ve ever put in my mouth. The fries were excellent and the service was on point.
They are doing a signature drink passport contest. If you buy a drink at each Clearwater Frenchy’s locations and get the passport stamped by management, once you finish, you get a t-​shirt. I was only in CW for the day, but this gives me all of the more reason to come back and try all of the Frenchy’s locations.

This place is a cool place and fun in the evenings. I have to say that the view for the sunset is spectacular so the location is amazing. I only had a drink there and it was packed, but fun if you’re just looking for a casual place to watch the sun go down or take a walk on the beach, maybe even play a little volleyball.

Clearly you cannot beat the location! Beautiful views.

Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill certainly has an amazing beachfront location, but damn is it ever tourist food. After a long afternoon of hanging out on the beach with one of my friends, we needed nourishment and this place came with about a million Unilocal reviews.
We got a table within 5 minutes, which was actually shocking considering how crowded the place was. They had a loud and lively band playing, so that was fun. The atmosphere is very beachy and tropical for sure.
As for food, we followed all of the recs and went for the artery clogging crab fries. What’s not to love about fries drenched in garlic mayo, Old Bay seasoning, and crab meat (possible imitation krab with a K meat). My friend had some sort of local beer and I went for the rum runner. Now that’s a strong frozen drank!
For the main course, I went for the fish tacos. They weren’t bad, but they were definitely bland and generic tasting. My friend had the mahi and described it as pretty much inedible. Truthfully I wasn’t expecting great food, so I wasn’t that disappointed.
Frenchy’s is definitely worth visiting for the drinks, views, and crab fries, but I would recommend skipping the food. Enjoy a few boat drinks though!

This restaurant is right on Clearwater beach, its a nice spot to grab a bite to eat and cool down with some frozen margaritas. Frenchy’s is always so busy and I’m impressed that they’re able to keep the restaurant clean. I gave 4 stars because the food here is good but not the best I’ve had. We sat at the bar and the bartender was really nice and provided great service. There was a live band playing music inside the restaurant. Overall, it was an awesome experience.

This place is really cool and hip. It’s right on the beach and the bar area is just so open and breezy. We ordered a few flavored margaritas (the strawberry one is better than the mango) the tuna on avocado dish and the crab meat fries. The fries dish was just alright. Whereas, the tuna avocado dish was super impressive and delicious. Overall, the food was good, the drinks were good, and the ambiance and location was the best!

What a crappy hostess and horrific bartenders. We were at the bar for about an hour. During the time it was VERY difficult to get two rounds of drinks. The bartender acted as if he was doing us (party of 3) a favor to serve drinks that we stupidly tipped on.
After an hour, our name was called and the man at the hostess stand was just an ass. There is no other way to put it. His abrupt demeanor should NOT be in the service industry.
The food was nothing better than what I would have gotten from the frozen aisle in the super market.
Unless you want nasty attitude, crap food and a long wait, go somewhere else.
The only reason it did not get one star was for its location!

Stopped here for a couple reasons, 1) right next to our parking 2) right on the beach and 3) previous Unilocalers…
Service was amazing. Hands down everyone was smiling laughing and taking care of their customers. Our waitress was very nice and informative. We ordered off the appetizers, and we’re happy with the Crab Fries but that was about it. The Rangoon was greasy and not filling and the worst of all… Rocktopus.
We knew it was being adventurous but that was completely off the grid, in a lost in the jungle no map being chased by a tiger off the grid. No way Jose it was horrible.
The waitress was awesome and took it off but still the food was basic bar fare, priced a tad high for the flavor.

Awesome place right on the beach! Was super busy when we arrived but our waitress Sam came right over, kept out waters filled and was super attentive. We had the garlic crab fries and ceviche which were both divine! We can’t wait til our next visit!

Great location, right on the ocean/​beach. Always one of my favorites when I come to Clearwater side. Cool place, I enjoy great food and atmosphere over here. The Rum Runner (frozen/​on the rocks) is most excellent. People here are always friendly. Even the colorfulness of the building puts me in a good mood.
Food was really good and wonderful service. Good quantity of food for the price. If your not much for seafood don’t come here. They have a select few of non-​seafood entrees. Otherwise food was really good. The bacon infused rum cake is amazing too. Definitely recommend it to all. The garlic crab French fries are good. All of our entrees were great, nothing outstanding but nothing that would prevent us from returning back. Seems like this place is best for hanging out at one of the bars and eating appetizers and most important looking at the beach and evening sun-​set is awesome.
Parking is extremely challenging at Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill. Traffic from Tampa to Frenchy’s was crazy but it was well worth a drive. Public parking and Frenchy’s has no control or ownership, so it can certainly be a hinders but again it was worth it.
The prices were reasonable and the are literally right on the beach. Awesome place for lunch or dinner and my family is considering coming back for lunch/​dinner again. Don’t let parking hold you back from a great meal and great service and great view of the beach/​ocean.

Nice, casual atmosphere. Locally famous establishment. This location is right on the beach. It has a cool atmosphere. It’s a «fun» place. Cool to take guests to. However, the food is just ok.
The Grouper Reuben is pretty fantastic. It has a very nice flavor. Very solid menu selection.
Baja Fish Tacos just don’t do it for me. They are missing something. Flavor?
The Frenchy’s Garlic Crab Fries are all hype. The flavor tastes so cheap to me. Like cheap seasoning from the grocery store.
The Crab Bisque Soup is pretty fantastic. It tastes so rich, though! Like, I feel like I’m eating heavy whipping cream mixed with butter. (no doubt, that is probably exactly what it is) It made my stomach a little queasy.
WARNING: The Grouper Egg Rolls are just disgusting. I couldn’t finish mine. I get sick just thinking about them. Horrible. Just Horrible.
There are a few locations. If you’re looking for beachside eats, it’s fine compared to other options. But, don’t expect spectacular.
Just be sure to get the Grouper Reuben. Otherwise, you’re gambling.

I had the crab claws which were so freaking good along with crab fries! Was was not expecting actual crab on the fries (just the seasoning) so I was pretty excited when they came out! The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere is a lot of fun… plus it’s right off the beach! Can’t go wrong with this place!

If you want something to eat that is close to the beach, I will definitely recommend this place. The price is reasonable for the food. There are several options on the menu from various appetizers to sandwiches, burgers, salads, and other entrees. There are indoor and outdoor seating! Also, there is bar seating near the entrance of the restaurant. It has a lively atmosphere considering it is near the beach with lots of tourists, but I still highly recommend going! We were seated immediately, and the service was really fast and good!
For my appetizer, my table ordered crab and garlic fries. I definitely recommend ordering this appetizer. The only downside is that it is difficult to pick up the crabs with the french fries, but they were filled with a lot of flavor. I ordered the California Chicken Sandwich, which came with chips. I substitute the chips with fresh fruit. You can substitute it with French fries or fresh fruit with an additional charge of $ 0.99. The sandwich was tasteful and filling with lots of bacon, cheese, avocado and chicken! I substituted my chips with fresh fruit. It came with melons, strawberries, an orange slice and kiwis. I definitely enjoyed the fruit and would recommend substituting for it if you order the crab and garlic fries!
If you are on vacation or by the beach, I definitely recommend this place!

Great view, you’re right on the beach. Great service. Live music! You’re going here as a tourist and the food is secondary, but do this and you won’t hate your food:
If ordering a burger or chicken sandwich along with frozen french fries at a Florida beachside restaurant is your thing, go ahead and get whatever average food.
But if you are here for seafood, know that the minimally prepared items shine.
I had the grilled octopus and was pleasantly surprised not only at how good it tasted, but how large it was. I saw some plates of oysters that looked tasty.
And they’ve got some local (Tampa area) beers on the menu, try them out, they are tasty!
But… I also ordered two of the popular menu items, a regular and a Cajun Grouper sandwich. Both were the «large» version (6 ounces instead of 4 ounces of fish), and both were total disappointments.
The bread (an onion roll) was totally wrong, overpowered the taste of the fish. And the toppings — a wafer thin slice of tomato, and a single piece of iceberg lettuce — made for a truly pathetic sandwich.
I ended up just eating the fish by itself, which was ok (but a pretty small piece, not even counting how much money it was).
So order some fresh appetizers, and plates of fish, and you’ll be happy.
