I go here for breakfast about once a week. The service is always prompt and for such a small place, I never have had to wait for a table, even on weekends. Prices are so reasonable for what you get. My favorite is the Cali Benedict and hey generally have good specials.

Wow yummy! My belly is busting after those awesome eggs Benedict and home style potatoes. Be careful of that Ghost Sauce! Its obvious they take pride in their menu, food, and service. Highly recommended, but anticipate a short wait for a table… This place is popular!

Had the special grilled chicken Hoggie with Tazeki sauce and it was delicious! Service was excellent even though almost every table was full.

Found this delicious surprise, a short 4 blocks up from the lake, across from a car dealership, about ready to turn around saw an open sign. Luckily we took a chance, the food was delicious, staff very friendly. It was obvious a local favorite, busy, but parking lot did not have a lot of cars. Homemade biscuits, fresh eggs, corn beef hash were great. I don’t usually have hash because it can be fatty, this was not.

In town visiting and checked Unilocal for breakfast. Yum. Had the eggs benedict and breakfast burritos. Both great selections. However, if you don’t like spicy don’t get the ghost chili pepper. It’s hot as heck.

I’ve right by this place for so long. Finally tried it. The amazing hoagies were flavorless, the toppings were flavorless. And my husband got the cheese steak. It was horrible it was just super bland and in impressive. For the same prices We will keep going to Caruso and San Fran sour dough… Sorry to poop on the little guy but flavor is important. Oh and if you are going to have a kitchen that makes your butt face everyone eating. Please try not to constantly grab at your butt with your gloved hand that I’m now watching touch everything including my food… No one wants to see that. No one.

Breakfast Magic! My boyfriend and I have been in twice now, and the food has been excellent both times. The people that work there are passionate, and really good company. Don’t miss the Chicken Fried Steak, it is truly original(gravy is bangin’). Even the potatoes are outstanding, and how many breakfast joints can boast that? Usually potatoes are just kind of there, and feel like an afterthought. But these spuds are properly seasoned and caramelized like a tasty hash. We plan on becoming regulars at this lovely little joint.

Terrific locally owned spot! I ate breakfast here, for the first time today and it was a wonderful experience. My friends and I sat on the charming little outside patio and were greeted warmly and promptly. I ordered the Barf platter(not the most appealing name, but…) and had it with bacon and cheddar, also opting for the sausage gravy on top. The portion was huge, the price was low, the food was hot and tasty and the gravy(homemade), was packed full of flavor. We all enjoyed our meals and the experience and will definitely be back!

This was our first time at Franklin’s and it was excellent. We had the Hawaiian Chicken and Homemade Sausage, and they were amazing. The service was great and so were the people, just everyday people. We will be back!

Great place! Quaint and super friendly. Everything is made fresh, including the hand battered chicken fried steak. Looked like Guy had made a stop here as well. Enjoy!

Great service, good food! The Philly was good, though a touch dry, could use more sautéed onions or more cheese or sauce. The donkey sauce(recommended by the waitress) was good on it, with some kick!

Best biscuits and gravy in town. Only place I know where the gravy isn’t from a bag or can, and it is amazing! The staff is fun and friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Oh yeah… and the Bacon is RIGHTEOUS!

Lovely small family restaurant the serves excellent cheese steaks and omelets. The wait was long but it was well worth it. The sandwich is made on a moist fresh roll with juicy tender steak and perfectly grilled onions. This is a must try if you are in the area.

If you have never been to Philadelphia, you don’t truly know what a hoagie is. However, this place does a fairly good imitation. A hoagie, if you don’t know, is Pennsylvania’s name for what you get at Subway: a sandwich on a long roll. But it is more. Whether it is the bread or the ingredients I am not sure, but this sandwich has its own kind of flavor. Especially the cheese steak. So, I went in with high hopes but low expectations. First, the cheese steak does not taste like in Philly, but that does not mean it does not satisfy. The cheese steak I had was good. And they don’t try to put all the junk that people who have never been to Philly put on, namely those nasty, improperly cooked green peppers. But there is something more here that makes this place worthwhile. Watching the cook/proprietor work that grill is pretty damn cool. When you see someone juggle all the different orders on kind of a small grill area, and smile and talk with the customers all the while, it is like watching an artist at work. Needless to say this place is crammed with friendly locals who are attracted by the friendly grill man. If you are nearby and want a good cheese steak at a fair price with a side of friendly, hit this joint up.

The bf and I went for a walk the other morning and he wanted to take me to Franklin’s. Its very interesting on the inside, pretty plane, nothing special. Our server came over she was all smiles and so sweet. She let me know what was most popular on the menu and I ordered myself a large mimosa and he got the PBR sunrise. Very good, as champagne and beer always is :) For breakfast I got the huevos rancheros(which is my all time favorite breakfast item and I love love love to try it everywhere I go that has it on the menu because it’s always very different and always good). She informed me that the green sauce on top was home made from the owners own tomatillos, I was immediately über stoked. It came and I ate EVERYSINGLEBITE. Holy cow was it delicious, very simple and just fabulous. Brian got the BARF(lol) and it was hearty and flavorful and just damn good. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly and I scooted my huevos right on top and added some of their own hot HOT sauce. It had my eyes watering at first but such great flavor and spice. I am living back in Portland now but when I am back in CDA to visit my wonderful boyfriend we will most definitely be coming back to Franklin’s. Solid diner.

Fantastic breakfast diner! Excellent food(biscuits and gravy are amazing, the bacon is awesome too!) one fantastic feature is the fresh squeezed orange juice. Franklins also serves lunch, their sandwiches are delicious. In the summer the patio is shaded by big beautiful trees, so you can enjoy breakfast or lunch outdoors! If you’re on the fence about where to go, hop off and get yourself to Franklins!

My mom and I were starving after a morning of visiting 4th Street thrift and antique stores. We needed nourishment so mom suggested we stop in for a late breakfast. We both had the Popeye omelette with sourdough toast and hash browns. So yummy and the food gave us the energy we needed to head out for more shopping!

Pretty good for lunch. The service was helpful and informative. The food was great, especially for the price! All the hoagies are about $ 6 or $ 7 and come with chips too. They also have two special hot sauces to put on your sammies. I had the Italian hoagie with jalapeños added, it was delicious. I’ll be back for lunch!

Fabulous breakfast and awesome lunches! This is my go-to spot for breakfast. There is a menu full of options ranging from seasonal fruit to full-on skillets grilled with vittles to keep you going all day long. Statistically, I usually decide on the biscuits and gravy, the signature sausage gravy is P-E-R-F-E-C-T, and what doesn’t lead to culinary bliss without an egg on top? I complement it with a side of bacon and this is a wonderful way to start the day! OH– the orange juice is fresh squeezed. FRESH. SQUEEZED. Lunch is an equally satisfying array of hoagies(hence the name), and burgers. Soups here, are good and hearty. Franklin’s is a locally owned, efficiently run spot for home-style cooking with a is little something extra. Servers are friendlyand often the owners, Joe and Crystal, will be working themselves. Whether sitting in the quaint dining area or basking on the patio, make sure you give this spot a shot. You will be glad you did!
