We went for Valentines on a busy Saturday night. Had Lamb Chops and Stuffed Shrimp, Greek and Apple Walnut salads with Italian Spinach and Brussels Sprouts. Fabulous Food and awesome evening . Topped off with Skillet Cookie and Coffee. A wonderful dining experience !!!

Not bad really a 3.5 star but some of the flavors made me round up instead of down. First thing is a nice setting, but even better if they would take a wall to the ceiling to block the bar noise and tv from the dining area. Nice menu but still too much of a bar atmosphere wight the open floor plan to the bar. The butternut squash soup was extremely good. Very smooth and rich with bread seasoning. Caesar salad ok but not worth the $ 2 extra without anchovy fillets on the side or fresh shaved cheese. Crab stuffed shrimp were a little over cooked but seasoning was wonderful as were the Mediterranean Brussel sprouts. Pecan crusted catfish was good but not cooked as firm as I like for catfish. Overall not bad but could use a little more detail to the ambiance and menu. Best side though was excellent service. The waitress was checking in without being too present and she always looked at keeping the glasses full and table clean of any finished dishes.

Hubby and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day early so we came here with the gift cards he got for Christmas from my parents(from Costco). We could tell it would be expensive as it was fancy. It’s so fancy they added an e to the end of grill. But they just didn’t deliver the flavors I was expecting. Hubby and I already knew there was a chance we wouldn’t be as fond of this place as their menu didn’t seem to have many things we were interested in. Since I’m fond of trying new things that was a downer for me. Since hubby isn’t into fish and a lot of the menu was fish, he wasn’t sure what to think. But we did give our favorites a try. He got the filet and I got chicken kabobs. I am pleased to say that our sides were all very flavorful. The butternut squash soup was high quality, though I found out I just don’t like butternut squash. The brussel sprouts looked good but just didn’t taste good. I haven’t had brussels often so I believe I can say the same of them as well. Their Caesar salad was good and it tasted like they make their own Caesar dressing. The hash browns were also yummy. I was disappointed in the wild rice, though, as it was just rice, no flavor, nothing. Speaking of no flavor, the most flavorful part of my kabob was unfortunately the few onion pieces with it. The chicken had no flavor whatsoever. Neither did my husband’s filet, though it was ridiculously tender. I’ve just had better elsewhere. Liked: — Caesar Salad — Hash Browns Ok: — Bread — Char-grilled Chicken Kabobs — Filet(medium) — Key Lime Pie — Phyllo Brownie Disliked: — Butternut Squash Soup — Mediterranean Brussel Sprouts — Wild Rice

We had an early reservation on New Year’s Eve. The reception hostesses were very distracted-not a welcoming first impression. The waitstaff were quick in attendance and attentive throughout the evening. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Grouper dish, as I did my grilled Norwegian Salmon. My Cabernet(I just don’t care for white wine, fish dish notwithstanding) was good. The sides were another story. I ordered grilled asparagus and Italian spinach. Both dishes were only marginally warm. The pre-entrée bread was acceptable. The red velvet cake and vanilla ice cream(portion plenty large for sharing) was good, as was after-dinner coffee. The price of the meal($ 100 including tax) was not totally out of line, but not a «value» by any stretch of the imagination. We probably won’t return.

Had lunch there and I wasn’t expecting the formal atmosphere based off the name. The bar area is very nice to have local draft beer and the cheeseburger was good. Expect to pay around 13 but worth it. Overall very nice experience and will go back for a date night.

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere make Jim’s Place Grille a hit with me. I had the chicken linguini pasta with green beans, chicken tortilla soup, and finished with chocolate cake and Gentleman Jack on ice. Everything was reasonably priced for what I got and would recommend this place for a nice evening, get-together, birthday, or date night.

I finally had a chance to stop at Jim’s Place in Collierville and have dinner with a friend of mine. We started off with the Skirt Steak appetizer. This tidbits of perfectly cooked skirt steak, warm pita bread, and fresh made Chimichurri was a perfect start to our meal. We both enjoyed the lamb burger(I had heard about this burger for months, and I was finally getting to try it). Upon ordering we were offered our choice of cheese, and I wrongly chose the smoked gouda. The gin and tonic I was drinking must have gone to my head for me to order a strong cheese against a strong flavored protein such as lamb as it DIDNOT go. I did not hear an offer of crumbled feta which would complement this burger perfectly. I was a bit disappointed to notice that there was no tzatziki sauce mentioned in he menu description and I think if they added this tasty sauce to this burger it would tie the whole thing together quite nicely. There are so many other dishes I wish to try off of their menu and I cannot wait to come back after the holidays.

I went here for a business dinner and the food was terrific! It’s in an unassuming shopping center, which I was a little unsure about. But, the ambiance was quite upscale, waitstaff was awesome, and the food was great. They had a number of specials too that all sounded amazing. Tip — get the shrimp cocktail appetizer. Seriously epic.

Not impressed at all. The atmosphere is nice and our server was great, very attentive and friendly. The food was just ehh. Basically flavorless. I really wanted to like this place, but I can’t think of any reason to give it another try. Even the tea was weak.

Food and service are wonderful. The char-grilled oysters appetizer is a must even if you thought you did not like oysters… you will now! I tried the Biloxi Whole Flounder, but it had been frozen. If you like bone-in fish… you will appreciate the difference between fresh and frozen. My husband had the shrimp and mushroom pasta, and absolutely loved it. Their cocktails are good, but their new computer system makes it hard to understand. At any rate… Cocktails are good, but pricey. Enjoy the food, but be conservative on the cocktails.

I really want to give this place higher marks. It has a nice décor and atmosphere, but the food is average. First off, we tried it about a year ago for lunch, and loved it. I ordered a soup and salad, which was great. Then we came back for dinner last week, and ordered steaks(since it is a steak place), but were heavily disappointed. The steak was overcooked, and quite pricey for such a mediocre cut. The vegetables of the day(Brussel sprouts) were terrible. The cocktails were not mixed well, and I actually had to send the first one back because I could not drink it, it was so sour! They replaced it, but left the first one on the bill. Fail. Otherwise, the service was pleasant, but not great. Bottom line, go for lunch, and don’t order the steak.

It had been a few years since we had last eaten here, but we decided to stop by on a lark. My recollection was that the food was just ok(tough steak, good moussaka). What a pleasant surprise! Our menu choices were fantastic this time around. The place was packed on a Saturday night… as a result, service was a bit slow. Nevertheless, the food was spot-on. The Living Lettuce Salad was a tasty blue cheese salad, and the grilled oysters were nice as well. But the entrees were the stars of the evening… the lamb chops were some of the best I have ever had, and the pan-roasted Chilean Seabass special was perfectly done. Seriously, the lamb was charred on the outside, but so juicy and tender… wow. And the fish was moist, and flaky… unfortunately, the accompanying«hollandaise» was broken so the fish was basically lying in a pool of butter. Even so, it was delicious. It was a bit pricey, as I remembered it. But how awesome it was to find some«fine» food without having to schlep to Midtown/Downtown.

I am torn. I have gone to Jims Place for the last year and have always enjoyed a great meal. However, last nights experience was enough to make me never go back. My group of five went in on a Tuesday night and were told that it would take 15 – 20 minutes to be seated. An hour, three parties of four, and countless parties of two later, we were told it would another 20 minutes to be seated. After complaining to the manager, she reluctantly seated us. The hostess did not write down our arrival time and swore that we had only been there for no more than 30min. Interesting. Once seated, we placed our order and waited another hour for our food. Drink refills were sparse and several parties around us ordered and were served after our order had been taken. Speaking to the manager again, she did not apologize and made no effort to rectify the situation. After two hours, our group left without eating, without an apology, and never to return. It’s too bad. They have the best food in the area. I only wish the service matched.

Very good food. Dessert ok. Recommend the salmon and lamb. The only complaints: 1) entirely too cold! Turn down the A/C 2) iced Tea includes ice. Refills didn’t have ice 3) waitress completely forgot to put in our appetizer which was understandable but disappointing Great service overall and good food.

Our party of Six held a Mother’s Day dinner at Jim’s Place, recently. Everything: a) Seating, b) Table service, c) Ambiance, and most important the various Entrees. was Excellent. Our meals ranged from Rib Eyes and Filets to Red snapper and Salmon. The Ribeye that I ordered was the best steak I’ve eaten in Memphis and Shelby County… this is First Class Prime Time Stuff they serve. We’ll go back for sure.

The food was really disappointing. The creamy soup had broke and was grainy and needed seasoning. The lamb burger was bland. The fries were very over cooked. All of our food was served cold. The steak was served at the wrong temperature and the meat was extremely tough. On the bright side, the server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. They made the very best out of a strip mall location by creating a charming dining room.

I love this place it is located in a strip mall but does not feel like it at all. I am able to sneak away for lunch here from time to time since I work right now the street. Everyone here is always… and I mean always great service here is consistently good. They have a great lunch menu from club sandwiches, salads and chicken Parmesan you can find something you will love. This place is perfect for more of an upscale lunch very nice… business or maybe a girls day out!

We have four people going there for dinner tonight, we had crab meat stuff mushrooms for app, the mushroom was tiny and only 5 mushrooms for 13 dollars, I surprised how small the mushrooms is and only few mushrooms. we order the filet and ribeye, all the steak it was over cooked, and no taste. I don’t think it was good, that’s my first time, I wouldn’t go back.

My wife and I were completely disgusted by the time we left. We both truly wish we had seen the way they clean before we ate, we would have left before taking a single bite. I will begin this evaluation with the service. We waited for more than 15 minutes before we even got the opportunity to order our drinks. The slow service continued through our appetizers and dinner. The service was bad enough that our main course was cold by the time it arrived. The food left a lot to be desired. We started with the oyster appetizer. It was tasteless and they did a very poor job of cleaning the oysters. All of them were very gritty. My wife ordered the Chilean sea bass. The bass was cooked beautifully, but there was little to no seasoning to speak of. Furthermore, it appeared that the cook forgot the sauce that was to accompany the fish. The only positive we have is that the bread was very good. Finally, the cleanliness. While we waited for our check we watched the staff clean the table next to ours. They first placed the silver wear, plates and everything else that sets on the table onto two of the chairs. Then they cleaned the remaining chairs with the towel and then used the same towel to clean the table. Yes, the same towel that cleaned a chair where people SIT was used to clean the table. They then placed the silver wear, which was just on a chair where people sit, onto the table with the plates and everything else that was on the chair. Then they cleaned the remaining chairs with the same towel again. I personally was thoroughly disgusted at the thought that my table was cleaned with the same towel that just wiped up where someone’s butt was. I started as a teenager working in a restaurant and would have immediately lost my food handlers card if I was to do this. I recommend you stay as far away from this place as possible. I know that my wife and I will not return.

I would not normally update on a place I have reviewed, but I was surprised by last night’s menu — Valentines Day. I understand this is a busy night and a consolidated menu speeds things along. The menu did not include the usual entrée salads and there were NO vegetarian entrees! I asked the waiter and he said a entrée salad could be ordered I ended up pairing some sides.

Definitely coming back! Quality food served here. If you ever wanted to try calf/beef liver, this is the place to try it. I had it done southern style and it is fork tender and melts in your mouth. I have always been a liver fan and this was the best prepared liver I have ever tasted. If you like the taste of lamb, try the lamb burger. It is a monstrous serving of daily fresh ground lamb that will not disappoint. If you are asked whether or not you want bread/rolls, make sure you say yes. They are hot, fluffy, soft rectangle puffs of deliciousness. I am excited to sample more of their offerings. Finally found an american restaurant serving quality food prepared well.

Jim’s Place in Collierville is popular among locals and tourists. The weekend bar crowd is robust and if you can get a seat it makes for a good night out. Jim’s bar is a high-end bar environment. The bar is not cheap, but drinks are worth the value and the bartenders understand the added-value of service. If you’re looking for people watching call and ask for a bar table, they’re popular and hard to get. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated, roomy and comfortable. Personally, the food is ok, not great. The food quality doesn’t match-up to the atmosphere and decoration in the dining room or the prices. Flavors are mild and presentation is more family-casual than upscale. The menu is eclectic with mix of mid-south and deep-south favorites with a selection of what appear to be owner favorites thrown in. The wait staff in the dining room is hit-or-miss, some are young and new to the trade. There are plenty of bus and wait staff. Jim’s is the place to be in Collierville! With a large dining room, and a function room for large-groups Golf Tournaments, Family Affairs and Business gatherings are common Call ahead for reservations on the weekend or be prepared to wait

We go to Jims place twice a year for a work function and I am just not impressed. Granted we only go for lunch… so keep in mind, I have no idea how the dinner menu is. The lunch options I’ve tried aren’t awful, but they aren’t amazing either.
