I didn’t know you could really screw up a prime rib but my cut was tough and I could only ate 5 oz of the 10oz I ordered. I was disappointed because I really wanted to go to a real steakhouse but this was closer. :( The salad was delicious. The 1000 island was very fresh and prob homema. The server was nice but didn’t reduce my bill when I showed her the slab of goop that I couldn’t eat. But the manager walked by and we told her and she took half off, which was fair. I would go back again but wouldn’t order the prime rib at saltgrass.

Prime rib had a huge bit of gristle running through it. Prime rib was also tough even though medium rare — not at all a quality cut of meat. Server took our dessert order, got the check to us and went on break. No one brought it out. 15 minutes later, the server is bringing it out as we’re asking for a refund of the dessert. She expected us to take with the ice cream half melted and looking disgusting. When we said no, she asked if we wanted it packed to go. Who packs half melted ice cream to go to avoid refunding it??? Then, she wasn’t sure she could change the check to remove the dessert. Fortunately, she could.

How do you run out of mashed potatoes at 6pm? I’ve been here multiple times always has been good. Bad day I guess.

Let me just start and say the food was superb, we got the chicken & sausage and chicken fried chicken with wedge salad. They were even kind enough to split the salad on 2 plates and boxed our leftovers for us. The food quality was really good. If I could say anything negative it would be the feeling the waitress rolled her eyes at my many menu questions

Seriously one of the worst dining experiences ever! If you like depressing unfriendly waiters with an attitude who might roll your eyes at you if you order your salad with no croutons & dining amongst the old depressed and angry patrons then this is the place for you! Pretty depressing and food was less than mediocre.

This place was great. The steaks were cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. I had the filet, and my husband had the NY strip. They were so tender, we almost didn’t even need our forks. Caesar salad was great, and the margarita’s were great. Service was a little slow at first, but it was a busy Friday night. Overall, we loved it and will definitely be back!

We came here after initially walking into Ted’s Montana Grill and finding out that they were out of prime rib. *Everything happens for a reason* Walked in at 8:30, we didn’t realize they close at 9. I’ve worked in the restaurant biz and I really don’t like coming in last minute, for me 30 min before closing is cutting it close. Anyway, they made us feel so welcome! Ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich with fries and a prime rib with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. The prime rib and steak sandwich were super tender and had just the right amount of seasoning. Fries were average. Veggies were a mix of steamed carrots, broccoli and green beans — just regular ol’ steamed veggies. Garlic mashed potatoes were really tasty. Oh and the complimentary bread(honey wheat perhaps?) was fresh. Obviously the entrees were the star of the show. I also want to mention the last time I was here I had the ribeye and an order of those shrimp wrapped in potato strings, both delicious. Service was great all around. Like I said, we came in at 8:30 and we were out the door by 9:05. We did hurry on the eating :-p plus we were starving hence why there’s no photos but we shall return!

Having lived in Texas, there are precious few things I miss about that state enough to want them here in Colorado, but Saltgrass is absolutely one of them. Impeccable service, decadent strawberry lemonade, shiner bock bread, the steaks. Oh god the steaks. And the cheesecake. And the giant dead animal heads on the walls scaring the shit out of my kids. Loved every second of it, can’t wait to go back.

I’m not sure if the outstanding customer service won me over or the delectable Texas style food. I have to mention my server, Sarah, she had the warmest personality I’ve ever encountered in a restaurant establishment. She was very intuitive to our needs without being annoying by hovering. Big thumbs up to you darling. On to the food…, NOMNOMNOM. I tried the seafood fondeaux and the queso Frisco appetizers, which could have been meals in itself. As for the meal, I had the tenderloin tips. I ordered medium rare, but it seemed more medium well. I mean whatever, it was good none the less and didn’t feel like it was any issue to be pushed. The only reason this placed lost a star, was bc bodyless wide eyed animals staring at me while I devour their soul, kind of freaks me out. It’s just my own individual preference not to have what I’m eating glaring at me, while judging me for eating their once upon a time living selves.

Just left after sitting ten minutes without even a greet. Servers and hostess both walked by several times. Guess they didn’t want my business

First time here and have to say it wasn’t worth the price. The waitress was very nice and friendly! The food was definitely not very good though. It wasn’t terrible, but it was nothing special. Also the steak was undercooked and the fries were very soggy. I was hoping this place would be good, but sadly we will not be returning.

The restaurant was stirring for V-Day and the girlfriend wanted to go, so we took a number and waited 45 minutes to sit down. We first ended up at the bar in the service was decent, but not great. However, we sat down and our waitress Courtney was great. I had the porterhouse steak with a sweet potato along with a beer. Stacey had a fillet with a baked potato. The cook got both steaks cooked perfectly to our liking. We later had cheesecake for desert and left. The food was pretty good, so no complaints. The ambiance was okay, but could be a bit nicer. You won’t break the bank as the prices were decent. It good place to take a family or to go with friends. It has a parking lot that is adequate, so you will find a spot for your car. All in all a decent little place to stop by if you are in Colorado Springs.

Nice place to come and have a steak or a southern style meal. I sort of like the Texas/Cowboy type of décor in this restaurant, and it is a hit with foreign guests. This is as Americana as you can find a restaurant to be, so it impresses people coming from overseas :-) The food is always pretty good, although I have to say I HATE that the only mashed potato option they have is with garlic. UGHHHH. The portions are very large. So I always bring home leftovers. This is a good place for larger parties as well, as they do take reservations and they can accomodate larger groups. The staff is always very nice and we come back time after time when my husband wants a good steak. Yup. We like Salt Grass. It does seem to be a chain(although it’s the only one I have ever seen, it still feels like a chain restaurant) but it’s still a good option for dining out in our area.

I came in with a large party of people on the weekend near dinner time. Not sure what we were thinking! The place was absolutely packed but our hostess offered to let us sit at the bar until a table opened up. We were seated at a proper table within 10 minutes(hardly a wait at all). Our server was a lovely young woman who was both prompt and friendly. As my brother says, «You don’t order chicken at a steak house». So all 5 of us ordered different types of steaks, a round of their chicken and bacon wrapped shrimp, and some cheese«fries». I put fries in quotes because they are really cubed potatoes, which doesn’t adhere to my idea of fries. Regardless, the shrimp and chicken pieces were delicious. Scrumptious even. They were juicy, meaty, and very flavorful. It was just unfortunate there weren’t more of them! And while the«fries» weren’t to my liking, my family devoured them happily. The waitress also brought out two plates of a dark, sweet bread with homemade, whipped butter. Again, simply delicious. Just before the main course, we had«buffering» salads to prepare our stomachs for 10−16oz steaks we were about to bombard them with.(: The salads were served on cold plates, with plenty of crisp greens, and light, crunchy croutons. The waitress also offered fresh ground pepper, which I accepted gladly. Finally the steaks. Ahh, the steaks. We all ordered something different, varying in size, seasoning, pinkness and cut. We eagerly traded pieces from one another’s plates. Each and every bite was wonderful. There wasn’t a single steak brought to our table that wasn’t nearly perfect. And we come from a family of steak-loving people. I was thoroughly pleased with the service, promptness, quality and overall experience at the Saltgrass. I will most certainly recommend them. I just hope they don’t let me down on my second visit. But I do very much intend to go back. Note for Allergen sufferers: They cook their steaks with butter. If you have a milk allergy, please request they do not add butter to your steak.

Well, it’s still a chain, but must admit had great service and some good food there the other night with friends from Dallas! Had«falling off the bone» ribs and nice, lightly battered fried shrimp, creamy tartar sauce, and veggies. The veggies were inedible, unfortunately… just not cooked long enough and no seasoning.(I’m not looking for salt, but some nice cajun spice & real butter could make veggies worth you’re while). However, they would have to be cooked first! HeHe. Just too tough to eat… Anyway, everyone seemed to have a good time and for a chain, I would probably return, but wouldn’t go out of my way to get there either. Very nice waitress, which I do appreciate!

Saltgrass has the outer appearance of a nice steakhouse. And they certainly have the prices of a nice steakhouse. The actual food, ambiance and service, however, is more akin to Texas Roadhouse. Not that there’s anything wrong with Texas Roadhouse, but at least there I know what I’m getting and set my expectations accordingly. The cook line must have mistook breading for seasoning tonight because our jalapeño popper appetizer, my shrimp and his chicken fried steak were buried in bland crust to the point of being unrecognizable. The meals were sloppily put together which I could understand if they were rushed but it was early enough that they should have had some time to put some TLC into our food. Then to top it off they charged me $ 3 for a ginger ale, then ANOTHER $ 3 for a refill. With no warning. Really? I just paid six bucks and didn’t even have alcohol? Surprises like that at the end of an already shaky experience are not appreciated. On a somewhat positive note, although overdone my steak was a good cut and tender. And Saltgrass’ early dining special(from 4 – 6 so we squeaked in) made prices somewhat reasonable for the food we were served. Although we had to ask for the early menus after seeing an ad for it coming in the door because the hostess didn’t give us those menus and our server never mentioned the specials until we asked. Bottom line: Don’t judge a book by its cover. We were excited to try this one out and it utterly disappointed.
