Visited Geisha for the first time. Brought a friend who happened to be an aficionado of sushi. According to him, the best sushi in Columbia. I had a Fox bowl with shrimp tempura, snow crab, fried avocado and the most scrumptious flavored rice! However, the highlight of it all was the service! Incredible. Attentive but not bothersome. Friendly but not solicitous. Love dining experience.

Never having been here before, my wife and I ordered a mixed platter of sushi, one of sashimi, an appetizer of veggie tempura, and one of shrimp tempura. We also had the«sake sampler». Everyone was nicely prepared and presented. The rice was perfectly cooked, not wet and not hard, but sticky and a good bed for the other ingredients. Fish was generously sliced, tender but not mushy, and most importantly, fresh. Entrées came with a small, complimentary bowl of miso soup. Oddly, the soup was one of the high points of the night. Temperature was perfect, flavor excellent – mild, yet distinct. Had a bite, but not overwhelmingly salty. The sake sampler was a good value. For eight dollars, we received four, jigger measure size servings of various flavors. All were uniformly excellent. Splurged and had dessert. At the server’s suggestion, we tried a concoction of two breaded and fried pineapple rings, topped with vanilla ice cream, and drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was amazing and the perfect end to a fish based dinner. Service was friendly, fast, and attentive. Décor was adequate and clean. Strongly suggest reservations, as the establishment is small and fills up fast. Expect to spend $ 70 – 100 for two, excluding tip(as of December 2015).

It’s the BEST restaurant I’ve ever been. Ingredients are healthy and fresh. What I like the most is they have not only fish, of course, but also have several ‘meet’ menus so everybody could enjoy in the one place. One more thing, their vege menues are wonderful as well. It’s good for the dieter, too!!!

Fantastic little downtown place with superb service and fantastic food with an even better presentation. I ordered the OMG Roll that came in a boat and dry ice feature that was pretty cool. I also ordered the Geisha Stone Grill — was able to cook my chicken to my liking with sweet onion, pineapple, mushroom, green onion and steamed rice on the side. The next time you visit Columbia or are near the area be sure to stop by this place.

Best Sushi in Columbia(but sadly that’s not saying much). The quality of the fish is excellent. They have great selection and variety in dishes. The presentation is also very pleasing. The atmosphere is kitchy and quirky, which isn’t necessarily my preference, but it makes it unique and memorable. As long as the food is good is what matters to me. Considering the cuisine, the prices are reasonable. The metal chopsticks are interesting, but are harder to use than wood, as the fish slips out of the grip easier. Overall, this is my favorite sushi restaurant in Columbia and I have been several times, each visit was a good experience.

Monkey Brain!!! It’s the bomb. I travel a lot of places and always anxious to try sushi… this place is good. Awesome atmosphere. It’s the combo of a sports bar meets sushi almost! If you wanna unwind, have some drinks, eat quality sushi and talk golf… this is your place!

I just wanted to point out first that me and my girlfriend are highly allergic to shellfish, which is what made this experience extra wonderful. When we notified our server that we were both allergic, they took extra special care to make sure everything was cleaned BEFORE making our rolls. I just thought that was very nice of them, to take that extra mile for us. If you are a allergic to shellfish like myself but still want to enjoy some sushi, then this is a safe place to do so. The sushi? Wonderful, I have never had a better Philly Roll in my life and the selection of sushi is insane. The Monkey Bread App. is wonderful, would totally recommend. We also had the Tuna, the Salmon, and the Batman roll. I hate eel personally, but that Batman roll turned me into a eel lover without a doubt. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. I promise you won’t be disappointed !

While I’d like to give this place a second chance, but from my initial visit the sushi was incredibly disappointing. I’ll say the appetizers and service were all good and are what swayed me to give two stars rather than one. As for the sushi, it was mostly rice and sloppily made. I’ll pass on the dry ice for good sushi.

Great atmosphere and great customer service! They bring out the rolls in a steaming boat and have really cool names for the rolls and entrees!

Very good sushi for Columbia standards. Our waiter, Casey, was a breath of fresh air. Place looks clean and well maintained. Décor is modern and comfy at the same time. Definitely coming back!

Loved the Aloha sushi and this cocktail called Blushing geisha. They have good and very filling sushi lunch combos which are decently priced. The fried green tea ice cream is amazing too. I love going back to this place!

As sushi goes, it was ok. I came with a bunch of people and we all ordered multiple things. Our orders would come out on a plate with other peoples orders, and not grouped together to go to one person, so figuring out what was who’s, and then transporting it to the correct persons plate was incredibly off putting. I think that people THINK they are having a good experience here because of the presentation: things being served on a boat shaped dish with dried ice and a bunch of theatrics. I’m more so interested in quality food, and not having to reach across the table to get MY order off of someone else’s plate. The veggie tempura wasn’t very good either. Random veggies unlike any selection I have ever seen at a sushi restaurant, and please do not include onions in your tempura! I didn’t order onion rings, that’s just sad. 3 stars for getting my order right, but you guys need to try a little harder. Also, let’s turn down the music and put something mellow on. This is a sushi restaurant, not a dance club.

First time visit last Saturday afternoon for a birthday meal. There were 3 of us and we were seated immediately. The ambiance left a little to be desired from all the flat screens on the walls. The bar was very appealing allowing a showcase of fresh ingredients. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable as we had several questions about menu ingredients. Our soups arrived steaming hot(miso) and were average in taste, nothing overly special. Our appetizers of steamed dumplings and vegetable tempura were at our table quickly with very good timing to the soup course and the flavors were good… just wish there were more vegetables in the tempura but that’s my experience everywhere. We ordered 4 rolls between the 3 of us and they were served in a traditional family style, which we really enjoyed in this setting. Everyone was fascinated by the ‘smoking boat’ that the rolls were served on. Each of the rolls came exactly as we expected and the flavors were amazing. I was very impressed with their freshly shaved ginger(excellent aroma and flavor) and the house made wasabi(rich and creamy). The loose leaf jasmine tea was excellent but I don’t like mine extremely strong so you might want to ask for about half the leaves and allow it to steep a little longer so its enjoyable through the entire meal. Our party also tried the hot green tea and they were very satisified by its quality as well. Overall, we had a fantastic experience… very reasonable prices, fantastic service, great food, will definitely be a returning customer.

Quite possibly the best service I have ever received. This include Michelin Star restaurants. The staff was nothing short of phenomenal. If I didn’t live in South Carolina we would be here weekly. We tried several different things among us and our favorites were the White Tiger(with an epic preparation that is a treat in itself, the oddly delicious bacon roll, and the avocado and tuna Monkey Brains. The Asian persuasion drink was delicious as well. Hands down the best sushi experience I’ve ever had!

A friend and I were looking for someplace different to eat in Columbia before a football game, trying to expand beyond our usual haunts. The reviews on Unilocal were promising, and since we weren’t with some of the usual members of our group who would frown on sushi, we decided to give it a try. First, if you are looking for a restaurant in Columbia that is not completely packed before a football game, this is a good stop if your party is up for sushi. The restaurant was empty of patrons when we got there, and only one other family came in the whole time we were there. Second, football Saturday or not, these were just good rolls. We had four total, and everything was fresh and tasty. It was a bit pricy, as sushi tends to be, but the selection and quantity was worth it. The service in an empty restaurant can be either terrible or overbearing, and this was neither. Football Saturdays are usually more about bar food and beers for us, but the girls may sneak away to Geisha now every once in a while.

The hubby and I stopped in here for dinner on our way back from an appointment in St Louis. The restaurant is fairly small and dark. The tables are black and the lighting is low. If you sit in the front of the restaurant, the thing that will stand out to you is a massive television with what appears to be Asian pop music videos, and everything that was on consisted of scantily clad, overly made up Asian women gyrating and grinding. Our table was right in front of the TV and it was utterly distracting and not in a good way, believe me. If their target audience is teenage males, then I suppose they’re doing the right thing. The menu consists of a bunch of fairly standard appetizers and sushi rolls. There are about four specialty rolls that they’re hawking that come out in a special sushi boat with dry ice so it looks like there’s smoke coming out of the boat. Seemed a bit silly and gimmicky to me, but again, perhaps teenage boys are their demographic. I imagine this sort of thing would be exciting to someone under the age of 14. They also had some stuff on the menu that they bring out and you cook yourself at your table. Why would I want to do that? I go to a restaurant to have someone else cook for me. Seems like a strange concept, and again, kinda gimmicky, I ordered hot green tea which was served in a nice cast iron teapot, but it was clear it was not brewed fresh in the pot and it was served weak and barely lukewarm. I would have preferred a nice fresh tea bag and hot water to something that was flash without substance. The hubby and I ordered three sushi rolls: one with mango that I cannot recall the name of, the caterpillar roll and the Philadelphia roll. My hubby ate the former two while I ate the Philadelphia roll along with a taste of his two rolls. The rolls tasted fine, but not spectacular. The Philadelphia roll was heavy on the cream cheese and light on the salmon, which I found out later was probably a good thing because I got queasy on the way home. I’ve never gotten sick eating sushi before, but the cause and effect was pretty clear here. I had to take nausea medication when I got home. The service was very fast and friendly. The ladies restroom was clean, but the floor made a scary sound when I walked on it, as if there might be water damaged boards under the linoleum. Also, I’m pretty sure they’re violating the rules regarding handicap accessibility. There are bars near the toilet, but they’ve placed a large table right in front of the toilet so that someone with a disability would not have room to maneuver. Bad form, people! If driving through Columbia again and in need of some eats, this place will be pretty close to the bottom of the list.
