Two weekends ago I visited the Morse Crossings Sears store shopping for a three-piece bundle of appliances. I met with the salesman Gerard and I told him that we were not quite ready to purchase because we are refurbishing our house and wanted to get some idea of our options and pricing. Gerard sent me an email with the prices of the appliances and informed me that at the end of the month on the 29th and 30th of January there would be an additional ten percent off sale that would be in addition to the already discounted prices. I monitored the price of the appliances and on Monday, January 25th I called Gerard to tell him that the bundle I was interested in was 150.00 less online than the price the week before. I asked Gerard if I should go ahead and order them or if he could go ahead and write them up and then see what the price was on Friday. Gerard seemed confident that the price would not change and I should go ahead and wait till Friday to come in and complete the purchase. I went in Friday, the 29th of January to purchase the appliances and Gerard started looking up the prices and announced that the prices had gone up considerably, actually rising to the pre sale pricing and in addition to that shipping would no longer be free unless I had a Sears card. Anybody looking at the Sears website can see that yes the appliance bundles are on sale and in addition if you spend more than 499.00 shipping is free. The manager of the store said well… these prices change 3 times a week and Sears has no control… and what did I want them to do? My response was sell me the appliances at the price I could have bought them for on Monday less 10%. The manager said they could not do that and offered no other solution… at which point I said that they had wasted my time and that I would gladly pay Another retailer 10% more just so I would not get the run around. I ended up purchasing my appliances at a different retailer, no pressure and really great customer service. I bought a new refrigerator, dishwasher and electric range for about $ 400.00 less than Sears’ bait and switch price.

This is a new store for Columbus, and as a matter of fact it’s the only store of it’s kind in town. It has appliances, and only appllances. So if you’re looking for tools and baby ware, you’re in the wrong store. ;) But they have all of the ranges, and refrigerators, and washers and mattresses that you could desire. It’s all laid out nicely in a store that you’d swear is too large for the space they have at Easton.
