Starbucks

If you’ve been to one Starbucks you’ve been to them all. I believe that’s the saying everybody uses but it’s not the case here.
The set up was different but very functional and homey. Kinda felt like I was having coffee at home in my living room.
Great staff, great service and great atmosphere. A must try Starbucks experience.

It is a Starbucks and cannot expect too much difference from other stores. It is in the lobby of the Sheraton which takes away from its transparent location for new customers. They are pretty quick at getting drinks out, but always seem to be understaffed.

At a certain level a Starbucks is a Starbucks, especially in a downtown area where they are only a couple blocks away from each other. This store is essentially in the lobby of the Sheraton across the street from the State Capital. That said, it’s laid out so the store is still set aside, so you don’t really notice if you came in from the street entrance. A little smaller than the one on the north side of the capital (Key Bank building), but similar. Lacks the character of the store in German Village and the size of the one next to Nationwide Arena.

So, it’s a Starbucks, with your usual Starbucks-​ness.
But, a few comments about this location in particular:
— It’s a little smaller than your usual ‘Bux, especially if you’re used to the suburban versions. You can access from either inside or outside the Sheraton, so it’s more of a little caffeine nook.
— Despite being small, the décor is slightly fancier. Look up! There’s a small recessed ceiling with what looks like an updated version of pressed tin. Cool chandelier, too.
— People have mentioned that it’s weird this Starbucks exists so close to the other one. But I gotta say, when you work on the south side of the Square, the north corner seems miles away (even though it’s not). This Starbucks can accommodate people who are walking in from the Commons Parking into their jobs without having to go out of their way. In fact, this was the only draw that Capitol Cup had. I wonder if CC can survive now that the Starbucks is here.
— Staff is super nice and friendly. I’ve never gone during peak hours, but they seem cheerful and with everything under control. Plus, I usually get a compliment on my outfit. :)

This location just opened, and so far, so good. They seem to be getting up and running slowly — the phone scanners weren’t working, and there were still some small things like light bulbs being installed, but the main caffeine-​producers were in place and operational.
Most importantly, the staff is super friendly and patient. Maybe this will fade with time (as it seems to do at other Starbucks locations), but for now, it’s a nice (small) addition to the square.

yesterday (monday) was opening day. I chalk up the errors and lack of smoothness to that.
They got my order wrong (I said no whip, they put a lot of whip), guy actually got two other orders wrong while I was waiting to order and waiting for my drink. Don’t know how they botched my frap but they did, it was chalky and gross.
They did have friendly service, but what coffee place would last without friendly baristas? The service isn’t as good as the guys at brioso across the square.
I fail to see why this starbucks was needed with one less than two blocks away, on the same street, on the same SIDE of the street (key bank building starbucks). I can imagine they are there primarily to handle hotel traffic, since I’m not that kind of traffic, I see no reason to really stop back. Not with Brioso and cup o’ joe so close.
