Tried curried tofu, sun dried tomato scone, fried rice bowl, and tofu wrap. Super average food and customer service was a disaster. I was standing by counter for a cup of water and no one would look at you for 5 minutes. Tables outside don’t even have umbrella for sunny days. Wouldn’t go there again.

This review is for the bakery. I used the check in for a free cookie. They have plenty of typical bakery items and some with their own spin. I purchased a trail mix vegan cookie, and it was delicious. It tasted of brown sugar and was the perfect softness. Donuts were also plentiful and comparable to Destination Donuts(lighter than buckeye donuts). The only reason it isn’t 5 stars is the space and lack of truly signature items. The line upon entering was a little confused and crowded. This is slight, but I need to save my 5 star reviews for the truly spectacular. If you’re looking for a good bakery and a free cookie, this is the spot. Who doesn’t want a free cookie?

This location makes we weak in the knees. I need to stay away or I am going to be 400 pounds. Everything is made from scratch and it takes time. Not the place to go if you just have a couple minutes(unless you’re purchasing a baked good). Staff isn’t especially proactive it their method of customer service, but are really active, friendly enough and will even crack a smile every once and awhile.

I have so many mixed feelings about Angry Baker because it is so f’n inconsistent. I’ve eaten here 5 – 7 times, always on a busy weekend day. Sometimes the staff is wonderful, sometimes they make me want to walk out. Sometimes the tiny dining space is well kept/managed, other times it is total chaos. There is a perpetual issue with service revolving around the small space and unclear roles of the various staff – it seems everyone wears multiple hats making them responsible for the cash register, kitchen prep work, bussing, running food, refilling the coffee, making sure people sit in a fair order, etc. I think the small building is more conducive to table-side service than order-and-seat-yourself service – No question they would have five stars if this was the case. I do(most of the time) love the food and baked treats. It’s just kind of pricey(definitely $$ not $) and oftentimes a logistical hassle. Maybe(hopefully) their upcoming addition of a second location will help control the overflow.

Came here for breakfast, we got the French toast sandwich and the strawberry oat pancakes. Both were great, wish there was a little more strawberry with the pancakes. The place has a nice look, but really needs better ventilation, you could see the smoky air from cooking. My eyes were stinging from the smoke the entire time which detracted from the experience. Maybe it was just that day?

I have to say it was average. The menu looked good, but everything I tasted was mediocre. The French toast was bland. The syrup was not real maple syrup. The blueberries sprinkled on the plate were good though. The two sausage links tasted like Bob Evans — not bad, but not worth $ 3. Our croissant sandwich was good but the tomatoes were tasteless. The curry bowl with chicken was tasty, however. The service was friendly, but it took about 10 min to get clean glasses for water. Last, the icing on the raspberry hibiscus donut was yummy, but the donut itself was blah.

They have great vegan options. Even though they look crowded when you show up, just wait — a table will open up. However, they’re so popular they may close an hour early. Perhaps they run out of food? At any rate, it is annoying to show up at 4PM to a hand-written note that says«Closing at 4 today, thanks!» Perhaps Angry Baker should change their hours? So the food gets 5 stars, and the early closing reduces it.

The Angry Baker makes the BEST vegetarian and Mediterranean wraps that I’ve ever eaten. Fresh, seasonal ingredients. The best hummus. Perfect pita. Homemade and HUGE. I feel truly nourished everytime I try anything from here. The ingredients are all natural, extremely fresh(crunchy spinach leaves!) and composed so perfectly! Though overflowing with ingredients(thick and feels heavy in the hand!), they do not fall out when you eat, meaning you can enjoy your pleasure, neatly, in public. Highly recommend!

I’ve eaten at Angry Baker twice this week and it is great. The first day I had Seitan French Toast sandwich… yum! Better than expected. And the second trip I had Seitan Reuben with Coconut Curry soup. Delicious. I love when restaurants are vegan friendly. Thank you! I gave 4 stars because the employees making the food are kind of slow moving. Couldn’t go here if I was in a rush. But that’s ok. Thanks Angry Baker!

Usually, the egg and cheese are the big players in an egg and cheese sandwich. When they are nestled in between a SCONE, as you’ll find at The Angry Baker, the scone becomes the star, the sandwich is elevated, and everyone is better off. You can choose between a bacon or tomato(my choice) scone. I got it with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, and a FREE vegan trail mix cookie(thanks to my Unilocal check-in). They have SO much more… loaves of bread to take home, fresh delicious-looking pastries, sandwiches, wraps, bowls, tacos, soup, etc. If you come here for breakfast/brunch/lunch, you are smart.

I called the Angry Baker on a Friday asking for a custom cake for Sunday and they delivered above and beyond! I selected the chocolate doctor pepper cake with their traditional butter cream icing. They told me the cake would be ready at 3pm but I was in the area earlier and it was already beautiful and ready to go at noon! The cake was for my boyfriend’s birthday and we shared with a few friends and everyone loved it; even my friend who traditionally doesn’t like chocolate cake! They also have vegan options which is awesome! I also noticed that they have a lot of yummy food that I want to stop in and try when I get a chance. I will definitely keep them in mind for all future cake purchases!

Eh… the food was good. You could tell ingredients were fresh however the small size of this establishments effects wait time of finding a seat and being served. While visiting we were lucky to quickly get a seat at the bar but the kitchen space is so small it seemed like the kitchen staff has no way to keep up on high demand days such as Sat/Sun. The tiny space also lends to people bumping into you, your table, and chair. Coffee is self serve so you have to fight through the never ending line of patrons waiting to order or find a seat to get it! I found myself dreading getting up for a refill only to do so twice only to find the coffee canister empty! It seems that Ohio has quite a few establishments like this… the kind were you are free to order but may not have a seat, because the max capacity is like 20 people. I get it I suppose it gives you an intimate feel but I want to be comfortable when I eat. Certainly not stand in line only to order food then look pitiful while always standing in someone’s ways or hovering over a table to grab a table if I’m lucky. All that being said I’d only go back here if it was non peak hours.

Recently returned to the Angry Baker for a Saturday morning. We had ordered a dozen pastries to go. The person behind the counter was obviously annoyed that we didn’t know the exact number of what we wanted of each pastry AND there wasn’t even anyone behind us in line. We also ordered a breakfast burrito and a pancake to eat there. We waited for at least 30 minutes for our breakfast and saw other people who ordered after us receive their breakfast before us. We’ve been there before when it’s been busier and hadn’t had to wait that length of time. We understand that this isn’t fast food and we appreciate the TLC that goes into making great food, but because of the unusual wait time, seeing other people get their food before us, and the unfriendly service we likely won’t be returning. Breakfast burrito is good but other places are as well if not better. Pastries also a disappointment. Has there been a change in management?

I’ve wanted to love angry baker from day 1, but I just don’t. I go there somewhat regularly only because it is 2 blocks from home, but I need to learn my lesson and go somewhere else. Service is usually pretty friendly. I don’t love that I leave smelling like a fryer, even if I’m just getting food to go. The real problem is with the baked goods, they just aren’t very good. They look great but everything is very dense and hard, from the cinnamon rolls, to cakes I’ve ordered there is nothing light or subtle texturally. Nothing is terrible, it just isn’t good. Pains me to say it because I want to support the local thing. Spend a little more and go to Pistachia Vera or spend a little less and go to buckeye doughnuts.

Amazing food but slow service. Excellent choices for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free diets. I recommend the tofu BBQ bowl!

The Angry Baker is my favorite restaurants in Olde Towne East by far. They have great baked goods– both regular and gluten-free, which is great for my girlfriend and me. It’s a close walk to where I live and in a mellow part of town. They have as many refills as you’d like on serve yourself coffee. And! They serve breakfast all day, which c’on…who doesn’t love that? I most recently got the salmon BLT, which was a really solid choice. The bread they use for their sandwiches is on par. This is one of the more expensive items on the menu and it’s only $ 10.50. You can have a delicious meal that won’t break the bank. I will gladly keep revisiting the Angry Baker as long as I’m in Columbus!

Angry baker is a cute little café/bakery in olde town east. I personally love this place. I have ordered several catering orders for office meetings. They’re easy to work with and even let me order specialty custom cupcakes for my co-workers bridal shower. They have great scones and macrons as well! My boyfriend and I had a chance to dine in one day and they have great healthy vegetarian and vegan options. I liked my salmon sandwich and the pancakes were very different than normal pancakes but delicious. My boyfriend ordered the burrito. I tried it and will definitely order that when I go back. For some reason he was expecting meat in the burrito and was disappointed when it was just egg and veggies. Maybe they would consider adding a meat burrito for meat lovers?

This is another one of my places in olde town east from my exploration. I’ve tried a few of the items on their Café Menu and even more items from their baked goods. Almost everything I’ve had here has been on point and worth the trip even if it’s out of my way. From the Café Menu I have tried the Fork and Knife Burrito, French Toast Sandwich, Blueberry Pancakes, Curry Bowl, and a basic egg breakfast plate. The fork and knife burrito is worth a try and unlike the other breakfast burritos which fall apart when you cut in to them. The Curry bowl was pretty good but the rice was stale. I love blueberry and I would recommend that everyone should try the blueberry pancakes, The only thing I would make sure to tell them is to maybe split an order with someone else because the pancakes were very filling. The place where The Angry Baker really shines is the bakery items — the blueberry lemon scone, the brioche caramel cinnamon roll, Fresh fruit tart, almond danish, chocolate chip cookies, and my personal favorite cookie — the peanut butter cookie. I plan to eventually go through the whole menu especially because it’s vegan and I’m always interested to find good vegan restaurants.

I knew that my second visit to Angry Baker would be better than the first. Ever since I went vegetarian I appreciate this place even more. I tried the vegan Reuben and it was DELICIOUS. As an added bonus, it was also cruelty-free. I also had TWO trail mix cookies cause they’re just THAT good. The staff is very friendly. The café seating is a little tight. Definitely better for groups of 2 or taking your food to go. I will be back!

I love, LOVE, impromptu Sunday breakfasts! We ordered hot chocolate with mint whipped cream, trail mix cookie(free with Unilocal check in), vegan grits casserole, vegan ruben, and took home tiramisu cupcake, vegan mixed berry muffin, and caramel apple danish… The hot chocolate tastes authentic — made with cocoa — needs to be sweetened to taste, the mint whipped cream has more of a mint after taste. The trail mix cookie is aweome — a little on the dry side on the sides, but the middle more than makes up for it. My husband enjoyed the ruban, but would like for it to have been sweeter. I didn’t love the casserole, it was deinitely dry, but very filling. The cupcake and muffin were amazing! We both are excited to come back and try more things on the menu, especially the fork and knife burrito and even more of the desserts! They offered an expanded menu of vegetarian and vegan offerings while offering a few meat options as well… everyone can be full! The dining area isn’t huge which makes for close seating… so, get there early or later than average eating times, and you should be good. The only thing I can find to be angry is that the desserts are SO awesome that you want to punch someone in the face! :-)
