Congress Depot

We stopped on a whim and so glad we did. What a great place. We enjoyed speaking with the owner he was very friendly and we loved hearing about the place and his future plans. I wish we wouldn’t of eaten just before we arrived, I would have loved to try the pizza and a burger. This just means we will be going back for a return visit. The shop is full of interesting items for sale. The backyard is amazing to explore.

Congress doesn’t have too much to offer, several of the antique stores along the highway have closed down in recent years, with Congress Depot being the only one remaining.
The Depot is a conglomeration of an antique/​consignment store, a pizza parlor and the future home of a touristy themed «township» (think the Settlers Community you visited in elementary school).
Antiques/​Consignment:
–I’ve visited twice, with two totally different experiences. The first time I went, every inch of this shop was lined with interesting antiques and collectibles. The second time, there was a lot of empty space. One of my favorite vendors had left and started her own shop.
–one of the vendors had a tea cart, upon which she had a whole set of china for sale. I inquired about the price of the tea cart (as it’s something I’ve been looking for) and was told it wasn’t for sale. To me, in a consignment shop, everything should ideally be available for purchase. Using it for display purposes only will just frustrate customers like me.
–prices are very affordable, large pieces of furniture for around $ 100 (dressers, credenzas, etc).
Pizza:
–the first visit, my dad and I ordered a supreme pizza. They take a lot of pride in their high-​quality ingredients and it shows. Very tasty, flavorful pizza with a nice crust. I would definitely stop in and order a pizza again (I don’t think it’s available by the slice, thought).
Give this place a once over and walk through, you might find an item that fits perfectly into your home. Hopefully, they will get more vendors signed up and have more to offer soon.
