This is by far the WORST Von’s store. It’s a shame the owners/corp don’t care about this location. Especially now that they have the opportunity to make it the«Go-To» store on Coronado since Albertsons(liked a lot) /Haggen(not sure — it was in & out so quickly) are out. This Vons store never feels clean or fresh. It is too small & cramped to even navigate; the meat cases are often not working & when the cases are exposed for them to fix(which takes longer than it should), it looks filthy and completely unappetizing. The ice cream in some containers always have a huge build up of ice. The fish counter always smells, although they may have moved to offer packaged fish(completely unappetizing). I saw some guys in suits recently(where they there to «Remodel»)? That day was the first time the fish counter looked good(fish attractively displayed) and didn’t smell. I am sorry I didn’t talk to them to tell them how awful this store is. And what is with the refrigerator truck parked in lot, taking up huge valuable space and making a ton of noise??? I prefer to shop at Boney’s and will go off-island to the Albertson’s in East Village(wonderful!), Whole Foods, Sprouts, Jimbos — practically anywhere but THISVONS. C’mon guys, time to step up your game, and make this store something you and all of us islanders can be proud of. You have the clientele. REALLYDISAPPOINTING.

Great customer service and clean store. It’s smaller compared to other Von’s but it still has everything you need!

This Vons needs a facelift. It’s crowded and old fashioned. Even the back entrance is bad and needs a re-do. It’s unsafe. I stopped in on Thanksgiving and they were staying open til 8PM. That’s so uncool for the employees and unnecessary for the handful of people who need a last minute item. The liquor store next door was staying open and could accommodate many of them anyway. The place just seems tired and that’s too bad since it’s the only game in town for the large grocery chain variety. The cashier was friendly and the bagger super cheery and nice.

I love this store! Makes a part of coming back to the island a great treat! The wine choices are exceptional, and can get dangerous! Which is just fine by me! Got in and out VERY quickly in the rush of the day(after school kids!!!)

Literally the worst vons ever. Run in for one thing & spend 15 – 30 minutes in line. Ever. Single. Time. Unfriendly cashiers when it’s finally your turn to check out.

Absolute horrible customer service from the manager none the less. The Asian manager has given me the worst customer service I’ve had.

Oy… this is a very un-charming store in the middle of a charming town. The cashier Olivia is a total space cadet… like something is amiss here. This store needs some serious quality control. Never ever been to a Von’s like this.

This store is an aberration among all the others lining Orange Ave and a throw back to the grocery stores of my youth — which was many, many years ago; I’m talking 60’s here. Really doesn’t look like it’s been updated since about that time. Now, that may be an exaggeration but truly, it was not a good food shopping experience. I could hardly look at the produce it looked so dismal and the narrow, crowded aisles didn’t help. Cashiers during the pre-July 4th weekend were frenzied and seemed ill-equipped to handle the inevitable crowd of shoppers before such a large holiday, not to mention several out of stock items on the shelves and the prices were no bargain. I did a double take when looking at the milk to be certain I was reading the pricing correctly. Aside from convenience, I’m sadly at a loss to provide more favorable endorsements for this location.

Worst Vons ever. Should be called Vons-MiniMart based on product and staff helpfulness.

The deli-that’s my problem. If you want a sandwich then please be sure to have at least 20 minutes to spare. It’s painful to watch. The deli selection is great but not always fresh, I may have just eaten a slightly rotten kale super salad. Yum? The chicken breast and salmon are often frozen during lunch time… not sure why? I also never buy meat here if at all possible. I shop here often none the less due to lack of options on the island. The checkers are super nice though.

There are a lot of losers that work there and terrible management. you have to go to the manger to cash a hundred dollar bill, they are in shock. The checkers are asking for donations for some cause that changes often. The prices are outrages’. The checkers will ask if you found everything ok, when you only have one item. The seafood area stinks and they put the best bread in San Diego in front of the open chill box to let get hard and stale. The district manger need to hold training for this low information crowd. I give no stars for joint. Steve Bingham Coronado

This Vons is a pretty small store but just about any company gets a boost when it’s on beautiful Coronado! The selection is much smaller than most Vons but at the same time, I found items I don’t usually find stocked at other Vons as well. Staff is pretty professional at this location and I was in and out pretty quickly. Though I haven’t gone here during a typical rush hour, I have experienced rush hours at Vons at it seems the chain never fails to dissatisfy customers in this area so it would be safe to say to do your shopping here on off hours if possible. Overall, for as clean and as neat as this store is, I feel there are better locations to get your grocery shopping done. The size of the store is inconvenient to shoppers and the variety isn’t as great as other locations either. This location would be better off being a type of «select» store where it emphasis on organicm, gluten, specialty, etc.

The store is small but it has what you need. They stay open late which is great when everything else closes earlier in Coronado. I usually only go at night and I never have an issue. Sometimes there is only cashier open but I have no problem waiting a few minutes. The staff for the most part is pretty friendly. I will definitely continue shopping here. Oh and they don’t have a public restroom. FYI

Went to this Vons to get sandwiches for the beach. Cliff notes: don’t bother. They«don’t have a bakery» so they don’t actually have the bread options they advertise. So, no, you may not have focaccia. If you can get past that, the employees /teenagers making the sandwich(a) aren’t good at it, and(b) seem real put out by the chore. It’s all extremely disappointing.

Frank, in the wine and spirits department, is amazingly helpful, courteous, humorous, and knowledgeable. There’s even a sign in the department with his scheduled hours as he is often sought out for advice.

I stopped in to grab a container of yogurt to eat as a snack. When I crossed the threshold I became the youngest person in the store by at least 10 years. It looks like a normal Vons, however these old ladies aren’t clucking and shaking their heads at the prices. No! THESE are CORONADO locals, and they are as fascinating as they are terrifying. Most are extremely lonely, so be kind and smile as you pass by, please. After grabbing my yogurt I headed to the registers. There’s a lane open, with no wait! Except there was; Olivia, the cashier, was having a conversation with some other employees and didn’t feel like wrapping it up. She saw me, turned and continued talking, then after a few sentences she dragged herself around enough to snatch my lone yogurt. Olivia then looked at it, sneered, looked at me, smirked, and then told me my total as I dug for my von’s card(which I told her I was doing before the transaction began) I don’t know why Olivia was such a bitch, perhaps she was having a bad day. I hope that things get better for her soon. In the meantime, Vons needs to bring some life back into that store and hire some kids from the area– surely a few exist. It’s messed up that the insanely rich elderly people shopping in the aisles are friendlier than your employees behind the registers, taking our money. wth?

Awww it’s a cute little baby Von’s! Very small selection, but it’s probably one of the best you’ll find on the island. I mean how much can you really expect when you’re on an island?
