Golden Kitchen Super Buffet

Visiting from out of town… We loved it. Came here after reading the other reviews. Food was all fresh. Even the nuggets for the kids, and the desert cakes for me!

Everything is good, beware you can eat too much. Delicious, Savory. Good temperatures for 1:30−2 pm late lunch.

The Golden Kitchen is an outdated restaurant that is in need of an update. The staff was friendly and prompt with drinks/​clearing out your used dishes. The food was bland and warm, not hot and fresh. After 4 pm, they serve steak and that was okay. We sat at a booth and instantly regretted our choice due to the comfort of the booth. The upholstery was worn/​torn and one can feel the metal foundation due to dated foam. The curtains on the windows looked dusty. Overall, a dated restaurant with mediocre food, but friendly service. The price was $ 40 for two adults and two children.

The food looks excellent food always taste excellent great presentation love this restaurant golden kitchen.

It’s very old you can tell. It looks like they never clean at all, The food is ok .i found a hair on top of one of the buffet items. eww

Debo admitir que me e paseado por varios restaurantes estilo Buffet aquí en Corpus y este a sido e l mejor por mucho. Tiene lo mismo que otros Buffett de comida china y aparte una docena de platillos más, la verdad esa variedad me sorprendió mucho, el hambiente era muy ameno y tranquilo, aunque la decoración era algo antigua. El staff no habla ni español ni inglés, pero te atienden muy bien. La verdad mis meseros se merecieron los 10 dlls de propina que les dejamos, la comida rica, la verdad yo volveré.

Decent place 10.95 for a to_​go buffet, not by weight so you can jam in as much as you like. Went once around 7 and food was colder and more picked over but when my bf and I went one night around 9pm the food was super fresh, hot and delicious. It’s a regular buffet with a large selection. Worth the money for sure but don’t expect to be blown away, I mean it’s just a Chinese food buffet place. Have realistic expectations and you will be pleased.

Outstanding. I’ve been to numerous buffets here in corpus over the years and this way my first time here. I must say it was outstanding. Loved everything I got. I recommend Golden Kitchen over any other in corpus.

Wouldn’t say this place is one of the best Chinese buffets I’ve ever been to. But you are guaranteed friendly staff, warm food, and a nice dining room.
The food for me in general was a total flop. The noodle dishes were bland and overcooked. The beef and sesame chicken dishes were tough and dry, and the won-​ton soup was practically just salt water. The only thing really worth b-​lining for are the egg rolls.
If you’re hungry or looking for some late night eats; this place might just do the trick. If you are looking for something more substantial; I would keep looking on.

The Golden kitchen was a good choice for a variety of food. You can get anything from sushi, meat, veggies seafood and dessert here. Overall I would recommend Golden Kitchen for lunch if your really hungry and want to eat on the cheap. My lower star rating is for the atmosphere and cleanliness which is questionable.

We also visited there, based on the favorable reviews here. Where are peoples’ taste for good food? Felt totally misled by these glowing reviews.
The food was all bland and lacking flavor. Other than texture, you’d be hard pressed to guess what you were eating. I guess that’s what the bottle of soy sauce at each table is for?
Some dishes were warm. Some were hot. Veggies were soggy. Rice was ok but more on the bland side. Very Inconsistent.
Place is dark and unevenly lit. Décor is about 20 years behind and looks dirty and unkept.
All of the servers looked miserable and forced to be there. How bad could it be people — you have jobs!!! The ONLY person who smiled was the lady at the exit who swiped my debit card after the meal. Cha-​Ching!
What a drabby place to eat. It felt more like we were eating at a funeral service. I guess folks don’t know what great Chinese should taste like.

Don’t let yourself disappointed. I have to say that I was fooled by all good reviews until I stepped into the restaurant yesterday. Let me tell you the truth & you’ll be the judge to decide whether to dine here or not.
Poor design: It seems like this place was opened hundred years ago. All decorations are out-​of-​dated, and the booth I sat on was not comfortable at all.
Poor food: The only two things that made me stay are the steak and nigiri sushi. Others taste bland. I’m glad that I didn’t get diarrhea by their sashimi, which at least shows that the sushi was fresh enough.
Poor service attitude: Servers kept moving around, but they were not enthusiastic about their job. I waited for more than an hour for them to pick up my finished dishes. I strongly suggest that servers smile more, instead of just standing there like robots.
Anyway, I don’t think that I would ever come here again unless they improve.

Do not eat here. My husband and I wanted to try a new asian restaurant, so we headed over to Golden Kitchen. The food was not good. My husband filled his plate with various items, sushi, and dishes, and only finished about a third of it. The desserts were very stale, as were the dried noodles. The chicken items were dry and chewy. When I got home I had to run to the bathroom. Golden Kitchen gets 1 star for the courteous wait staff and the hubs liked the ice cream.

2.5 is what better suits this place but I can’t get that metric on Unilocal.The owner is nice and helped to accommodation a really large party of us for a good price though so that’s one positive I want to remember. The waiters are good at taking away your plates and keeping your drinks topped off too.
But the food is eh. Crab legs are good, as is the nigiri (large pieces of fish on them!) and the roast beef if you get a fatty portion but that’s about it. Oh and the massive ice cream selection is awesome. But other than those highlights, everything else is subpar Americanized chinese food. Maybe its also because we were such a big group, but they couldn’t keep the sushi rolling fast enough to accommodate us either since as soon as it came out, we cleaned it out.
The weird thing about this part of town is that there seems to be a lot of these buffets. Maybe its better than the others, but to me its all just the same.

Great food especially for a buffet. Huge choice!

Ate lunch here on 2÷28÷13. Food is only fair. Noodle dishes, blah. Food lacks flair and flavor. Jin Asian buffet is much better, for Chinese food in corpus Christi. Nothing beats china town in San Francisco. Pat G. Corpus Christi, Tx.

Been coming to this place for a good year and every time when I want a good lunch with my family this buffet is the place to be, the wait staff are so friendly, and the restaurant it self is kept really clean. The amount of food on the buffet line is always piled to the top and hardly never empty. I myself love the spicy shrimp that is served, I would highly recommend this dish and this restaurant of course. Again, this is the best place for chinese buffet in Corpus Christi TX hands down!

Great Chinese food. One of the best wonton soups I’ve ever had. The spring rolls are tasty. Staff were helpful and the environment was clean.

Excellent buffet. Amazing steaks after 4 pm. Not as many selections as some super buffets, but the food is tastier. And inexpensive! Great place to eat.

Pretty good food, quiet atmosphere, great prices. One of the better Chinese restaurants in town.
