The ambiance is perfect. It’s a perfect place for a romantic dinner or for a birthday party. We came here a few weeks ago to celebrate my friend’s big 30th. The wait staff was on point and made great suggestions. Lobster shooters is what they’re known for. It’s definitely a win. I had the beef tenderloin with a grapefruit cocktail(forgot the name but it was great!). Perfectly prepared. We had a great time with great company and great food! We’ll def be coming back! PS — they have a special Valentine’s day menu for any of you gents out there scouting for dinner venues! :)

Great night! Lobster shooters, sushi, venison and FABULOUS wine. Haven’t been there in a while … Shame on us. Great wait staff total attention to detail! Food was incredible my group loved the bread basket a little too much. Celebrated an adoption birthday as we call but they came up with a great saying and even had the chef sign the menu. Will be back soon

I went for a business dinner and WOW, this place is amazing. The service was exceptional, very attentive and efficient when delivering drinks and food. The lobster shooters were the best appetizer I have had, hands down! The buffalo steak was cooked perfectly and was seasoned just right and the risotto was creamy and delicious. One of the best meals I have had in a long time, but do note it is quite expensive!

Went here with friends while I was visiting Dallas during restaurant week. I had no background knowledge of this place but I definitely enjoyed the experience. We arrived ahead of our reservation and waited in the bar/lounge area. The place was very lively so if you’re looking for a low key atmosphere this is not the place for you. We ordered signature drinks from the bar. One of the chefs actually came to the table and took our order. He was very knowledgeable on the drink menu and able to make recommendations so based on each individuals drink style preference. Our table wasn’t right on time but because we were seated and enjoying each others company it didn’t disrupt our flow. Once we entered the dining area the ambience changed to a more relaxed environment. We had an excellent server. every item on our four course menu was cook to perfection. I’m a semi picky eater and tried a few things that I hadn’t tried before. All of it, no matter how exotic was delightful. The only thing I didn’t try was the dessert containing coffee as I can’t consume caffeine late. I would definitely come here again on a future visit.

I went for restaurant week earlier this year and a few times over the past couple of years. Reservations are strongly recommended and near by street parking is available if you have a few minutes to search. If not Abacus offers valet. Good food, delicious wine and excellent service!

Had dinner here on a weeknight based on a recommendation from a colleague. What a GREAT suggestion. Everything about the dinner was superb — the food, the service, the selection, the creativity, the décor. Yes the lobster shooters were as good as advertised. Steaks were fantastic as were the sauces. All the sides were excellent. Dessert too. All around a great place to have a nice dinner. I wish this were closer to home. I would be here more often.

When it comes to the long list of numerous restaurants along McKinney, Abacus takes the number one spot for me. It truly is remarkable restaurant with impeccable service, beautiful settings and most importantly, unbelievable food. So apparently the«thing» here at Abacus are their lobster shooters. I can concur in so far that they are extremely flavorful and delicious! It’s a shot size glass of «Wow!» Granted, it is tiny but well worth the dollars. Beginning with their sushi dishes, the freshness and authenticity of their rolls was obvious when you popped one into your mouth. My family had the Bama roll and the tempura shrimp roll. As a bonus, it also came with what I believe was real wasabi! A rare thing to see at your typical sushi place. To top that off, we had the eel nigiri. It was meaty and delightful and will be a future favorite of mine. ~I came, I saw, I ate~

I had been wanting to try this place for the longest time… I finally got to try it during Restaurant Week. The place had a simple and classic décor. It was very busy, although we had a late reservation on a Thursday night. We arrived on time, but were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation… that was probably the only negative of the evening. Most restaurants participating in Restaurant Week only offer two or three selections for each course, but Abacus offered a pretty extensive menu. I ordered Lupe’s Sweet Corn Soup for my first course and absolutely loved it. It was the best corn soup I have ever had! I got the Wood Fired Pork Tenderloin for the second course. The meat was tender and flavorful. My friend got the duck dish and that was also enjoyable. They offered a dessert trio for the third course, which was a great way of sampling some of their most popular desserts.

We came here for restaurant week. We arrive 15 minutes early and were seated 10 minutes after our reservation. The hostess seated people that came in after us and not until we inquired did they seat us. The waiter, Kenneth, was not friendly nor did he provide good service throughout the night. We had to ask for refills from others walking by. We started with the lobster shooter and the pork pot stickers. The lobster shooter was not amazing like others have said, it’s was way too sweet. The pot stickers were very dry and tasted like cardboard, worst pot stickers I have ever had. We had the pork tenderloin and the duck breast for the main course and at least they were both very delicious. These two dishes redeemed our initial impressions so cheers to the chef who prepared it. Desert was unmemorable. Not sure if our experience warrants a return.

My husband and I had our first experience at Abacus this past weekend for their final night offering their DFW Restaurant Week menu. Parking options were either valet(free) or street parking(if you could find it). We had dinner reservations at 6 p.m., so there wasn’t much street parking available in the area for a Saturday night; we opted for the valet. Although we arrived 15 minutes early, we were seated promptly, our table ready and waiting for us. It was a full house for restaurant week, but the service was top notch and all the food delicious. My only complaint was that it was a little noisy, but having never been any other time, this may just be a common atmosphere for the place. We tried the lobster shooters(delicious), and a range of appetizers, our favorites being the purple potato gnocchi and the lightly smoked hamachi crudo. I ordered the duck breast with the chili-white cheddar grits. I could eat those grits forever. And ever. And ever. They were so delicious! The duck breast(my first time eating duck) was also wonderful – good texture, well cooked. My husband ordered the seared Scottish salmon, which he said was the best salmon he had ever had ever. Dessert was a trio – a cake with blackberry compote(a bit forgettable), salted caramel tiramisu(amazing!), and a dark chocolate peanut butter tart(delicious!). Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and look forward to a time when we can return in the future!

I think this might be the best restaurant week we have been to in terms of food and service. However, they do get a knock for our reservation being nearly an hour late. We started with cocktails, which our whole group was pleased with. The décor was modern, simple, but still comfortable. There were a lot more options then a lot of places for restaurant week. We started with the 4th course from central market, but nobody explained what it was, I believe it was the lobster shooters. The lobster dumplings in sake cups with a rich broth were delicious and I would get them again. I got the gnocchi and thought they were pillowy, the sauce rich and the crispy vegetables a nice contrast. My husband got the calamari and well it had good flavor and was a large portion, it wasn’t anything that special. He had attempted to get the crudo but they were sold out and the waiter recommended the calamari. I got the duck breast and my husband for the flat iron. My duck was amazing, a great balance of flavor with rich duck and grits, but then lots of crunchy texture with toppings and a sweet balance with the peach butter. All around spectacular and I ate every bit. The flat iron was a little undercooked, but well seasoned. The accompaniments were good, but just fell a little standard compared to the duck. My friends also go the steak and duck and were pleased with their meals as well. For the desserts they give each couple a sampling to try. They were all good, but we were pretty stuffed at this point, just trying a few bits of each. My husband loved the blackberry upside cake which was sweet but with a nice touch of savory from the sage. The service was wonderful. Brandon our waiter was very attentive and informative. When my friends wine had a bug in it, he was great to replace it and comp it. We will definitely be back to try the regular menu.

Hi I went here for dinner on rest week. Some of the things that I felt were not upto the mark were 1. reservations for 9:30 pm and we were actually sitted at 10 pm 2. Really loud and noisy ambience. Did not feel like fine dining at all 3. Appetizers came relatively quickly and were nice. I got the corn soup and my colleague got the calamari. The appetizers were ok not special in any way. 4. Main course took another 40 minutes to come and this is where I was left severely disappointed. I ordered the pork tenderloin and it was very very dry, chewy with a completely charred exterior. There was absolutely no flavor to the meat. Overall it smacked of a really sloppy job and I really did not enjoy that 5. Dessert was ok Overall, it was supposed to a fun date night that turned out to be miserable because how bad the food was. I am sure they have great food on most days but it really was garbage the night I went and maybe its rest week effect. I am not going there ever again.

I love this place and enjoy dining here or just grabbing a cocktail in the bar. This time I took a friend here during restaurant week. I generally don’t dine out much during Restaurant week, because I’m not a huge fan of limited menus, or dealing with over packed restaurants and wait staff that is run ragged. But we had a really great dinner. Yes, the options were limited, but the fact that we could order the lobster shooters as an addition was nice. Even with a limited menu there were wonderful options, and we were both very pleased. The portions were perfect, our service was fantastic both in the bar and the dinning room. I would say if you are going for restaurant week, I would make an early or a late reservation. We had an early reservation and the dinning room felt less crowded. I also felt like our server had a little more time for us(or it could just be that the service here is always so fantastic that even during the busiest week(s) of the year, they are not thrown off their game!).

Abacus is like a old out of town friend that you don’t see very often but when you do it brings back great memories. I’ve been to Abacus many times and they serve some of my favorite foods so I keep coming back for more. Pan Roasted Hudson Valley Foie Gras(espresso gel, yukon potato doughnut, duck bacon, kumquat marmalade) I love Fois Gras! Their preparation is perfect. I could eat this all day if it wasn’t so expensive! Truffle — Parmesan Gnocchi(grilled scallions, fava beans chanterelle mushroom conserva, roasted garlic cream) Very tasty and tender. I only wish their were more gnocchi on the plate! One of the appetizers was the Baby Kale Red Endive Salad(dried cranberries, pimento cheese, almonds, preserved lemon-basil dressing) but I don’t eat rabbit food. I’m not a rabbit. Niman Ranch Pork Duo(slow cooked short rib & tenderloin, fire roasted pepper –blue corn grits, epazote«pesto) Melt in your mouth meat could you ask for anything more? Wood Roasted Beef Tenderloin(mcpherson sangiovese butter, truffle potato purée, honey glazed haricot vert, carrots) As good as the pork but even better with the potato purée. For sides we had the Creamy Black Truffle Risotto and Tubetti Mac and Cheese — two of my favorite and I think I just died and went to heaven. For dessert we had the very pretty deconstructed Strawberry Cake, the coffee and bananas(Dulcey chocolate mousse, banana sponge cake, mocha caramel, cappuccino gelato), and at the movies(Soft chocolate fudge cake, salted carmelia ganache, crunchy cocoa popcorn, butter popcorn-m & m ice cream). Not going to rave about any specific one but they were a great nightcap to a excellent meal. One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. I’ll definitely be back. The appetizers and sides are my favorite. Now only if they had sea bass and a soufflé it would be perfection.

We went here for my wife’s birthday and wanted an upscale experience. Let me start by saying that there is nothing that is inexpensive here, but overall the value is worth the cost. The food is outstanding, the service is impeccable, and ambiance is sophisticated casual. There was nothing that I can find to criticize that would lead me to anything less than 5 stars. We arrived before our reservation and sat in the bar area. We started with a Moscow mule($ 12 each). They were good but kind of unusual and I probably would not get it again. But it was a fun experience with the copper cup. We had an early reservation so the restaurant was pretty quiet when we started. About 7:30 people started pouring in and the noise level rose considerably. After we were seated and started to peruse the menu it obviously leans toward Asian fusion, which is fine with us. We started with the iconic lobster shooters just for the heck of it. They were unusual, and I thought they were quite good. The wife did not think they did much for her, but we agreed that it was a fun experience. I do think that once in your life is enough. We shared a Caesar salad($ 14) and it was originally presented(see my picture). The dressing was the best we ever had. Simply delicious. The whole anchovy on top was unusual but not overpowering. It actually was the perfect Caesar and I am not sure I can ever eat a cheap one again. I ordered the ahi tuna($ 40) and it was cooked to perfection. Probably the best tuna I have had in my life. The tuna was tender and flavorful. It was prepared perfected raw but was warm. The whole dish was simply outstanding. The wife ordered the lamb chops($ 45) and they were the best she ever had. It came with a piece of pork belly which she said was also the best she ever had. The lamb was prepared perfectly and had a smoky, deep flavor of lamb. We also got some Bloody Marys for me and wine for her to add to the festivity. It was the best Bloody Mary I tried in my life. We ended with a thin mint dessert. The brownie was a bit hard but the rest of the accompaniments were very tasty. The portion was not too big so we left satisfied but not overly full. Overall, it was an excellent experience. It was an expensive meal but worth it. We had a memorable experience, and this restaurant is perfect for special occasions.

4.5! This was the best dining experience I had in Dallas. The food and especially the service were top notch. I let them know it was a celebratory dinner and they gave me a copy of the menu signed by the chefs, although it was a copy, still a very nice gesture. I had the Picasso Roll, Macadamia Crusted Hawaiian Opah, Pan Roasted Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast and the Goodie Box for dessert. The Picasso Roll was surprisingly good, unexpected from an Asian fusion place. The opah and duck plates were both really good as well. The duck was from a local farm. All the ingredients used were fresh. The goodie box consists of 4 different desserts, 3 pieces each. Macaroons, cheesecake brownie, cookie and chocolate — although not bad at all, it was the least exciting part of a superb meal. The restaurant itself is very nice and classy. Again, the service was top notch. Very good location for a special event. Very romantic.

Had the pleasure of coming here for early Valentine’s dinner with the boo. Appearance wise it was classy, soft ambience. Staff was nice and our reservation was set up nicely with a booth. We had lobster shooters for appetizer… red wine Fabre Monte mayor(malbec) and he had a Moscow mule. Dinner he had the marlin and I had the herb crusted grilled venison cooked medium rare. DELICIOUS! I enjoyed the venison with its flavor and sides. The different textures and flavors fused nicely.

Disappointing. My palate wasn’t as satisfied as my eyes — far from it. Sure I was impressed with the interior — bright and open, but still cozy. However, they squeezed 10 adults in 1 round table, so it was uncomfortably tight even for petite girls like us. Service was sub par. The duck breast I ordered looked great and was tender but tasted bland. The bone in filet my husband had wasn’t worth the $ 60 they commanded for it. You can get better filet for less money at III Forks. I’m all for paying premium for ambiance and clientele, but the food has to be good.
