Not much in terms of location, but I bet it’s got a sort of cool industrial-swank vibe at dinner. I was there for a weekday lunch. You get some little cornbread muffins to start — they’re fine but nothing special. I’d love to see them kick these up a notch with some jalapeño or cheddar or something my poor, non-culinary brain hasn’t thought of yet. Cranberry? Mmmm actually yeah, I’d love to try some«cornberry» muffins. Let’s make that a thing in 2016, o chefs of the world. Okay so anyway, while chefs of the world are working on developing«cornberry» muffins and before my «cornball» joke factor hits my annual limit… let’s supplement those cornbread muffins with a starter of some Shiner-battered onion rings. It is a HUGE portion of melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. I thought $ 6 was a little pricey until I saw the portion size. If you wanted to make this an entrée, I would question your health but applaud your decision, and you would definitely be full. You can easily share this between 3 – 4 people. A+, five stars, awesome. I’m usually all about the sauces, but I didn’t want to dip these babies in anything(though the ranch they’re served with is fantastic). They are sooooo good on their own. Next, the shrimp and grits are incredible. I have to bring my husband back here just to make him try them. They’re that good. These are not shrimp and grits with your typical seasoning — they have a strong sherry flavor, and it’s a delicious new twist on a classic. The daily crepes were just okay, but the mashed potatoes and grilled veggies they came with were phenomenal. The veggies in particular had this incredible smoky flavor that made me want a whole bowl of them, too. Service was spot-on. I’ll be back!

A group of 6 of us decided to come here after the Margarita Ball. All of the typical downtown brunch places were on a 45+ minute wait. We called here and they had tables ready to go. The place was easy to get to and had ample parking. We were greeted and sat instantly. Mimosas for the table. Everyone enjoyed them. For my main meal, I got the Huevos Rancheros. The spice was perfect, the eggs were cooked just how I like them. The breakfast potatoes were a little cool upon delivery and somewhat bland. Over all, I liked the place. I will come back for a brunch next time I am in the area.

Pat Baby doesn’t like it when I take him to crowded brunch spots with a one hour wait. It takes outstanding amounts of coercing to even get him to try new things. Somehow, through all of my meticulous Unilocaly research and detective work, I knew this place was going to be a winner. One, nobody was here. Okay, there were about 5 tables filled in a room of ~25, but essentially, nobody was here. Why is this spectacular you say? Because there weren’t any loud noises to startle my poor little antsy Pat Baby. In addition, this makes Bridge Café our little brunch«secret». Our little table by the window gave us a great view of Dallas entangled in a web of power lines . Two, their grits just made it real up in this café. They were fancy(and I’m skeptical of fancy aka white cheese in anything), but with the garlic white cheddar flavor to back it up and clumps of soul that sat next to your heart, it will make you accept no other type of grits. These are the grits that taste angelic but will send you to the depths of earth because of how sinful they are deep down inside. Three, fingerling breakfast potatoes. What are your favorite breakfast potatoes? If you naffing say hash browns, I will punch your belly back to Redneck Heaven. If you understand that fingerling potatoes are the epitome of potatoes and are excruciatingly hard to find before 11am, then, you understand that a crispy exterior, soft interior, and subtle chunks of crystal salt dipped in ketchup make this starchy root the king of all brunch items. I hope, truly, that you don’t like this place as much as I do. It is unspoiled, raw, and I would hate to see it turn into just another patio brunch affair.

I finally found the chance to make it over to Bridge Bistro for brunch this past weekend. We visited the restaurant on a Saturday, and it was empty when we arrived. I hope they have heavier traffic during dinner time; otherwise, I think this place may be in trouble. We started our brunch off with a couple of waters, coffee, and cups of Shrimp and Andouille Sausage Gumbo. One of our water glasses had leftover pink lipstick. I guess the dishwasher didn’t clean the glass good enough. We told our waiter and he promptly brought us another glass. Our waiter also brought over complimentary mini cheese biscuits with a really good fruit jam! Their coffee is really good to my surprise. The gumbo was good, but definitely too thick for my taste. I do wish there was more than only one shrimp in my cup. Other than that, it was not bad. Our waiter also brought us a small cup of their vegetable soup to try out, but it wasn’t very good at all. I ordered the Shrimp Poboy for my entrée. The bread was too thick for the small amount of shrimp that accompanied it. If the shrimp were seasoned a bit more, I would have enjoyed it more than what I did. I had some of the Shrimp and Crawfish Enchiladas and they were really good. They weren’t too heavy at all. Overall, we had an ok experience here, but I didn’t love my food enough to rush back.
