I enjoyed my first experience at this Dallas Icon. I love super — thin crust pizza with a crispy crust and Campisi’s delivered! I also like deep dish. And hand-tossed. And just about any pizza. There’s a joke that starts like this: «How is pizza like sex?» Decorum prevents me from finishing. We ate in the«Lounge» area with Tartan wallpaper and covered with the obligatory signed photos of sports celebrities and notables. Cool atmosphere that harkens back to mid– 20th Century. Very cool. The main dining room is a little more divey. The pizza was thin, oblong and nicely furnished with peperoni, great cheese and diced black olives. Crispy crust and piping hot. Normally a large pizza would fill up Diana and I and we’d be taking several slices home. This pizza was so thin we killed it on the spot. There was a hint of anise in the savory sauce — we loved it. We got there early but I am sure a later window would be quite entertaining. Generations of Dallas families have enjoyed Campisi’s. We are a Tarrant County couple that needs to be added to the list! With Diana Hutchins Daw.

For 26 year, our family has enjoyed Campisi’s particularly for special events. Our visit Sunday really damaged our relationship and I’m not sure we will be back. Bad service, trying to cram main courses onto the table while we were eating appetizers placed there 4 minutes earlier, kept on doing that despite our repeated cries to please stop, and cold food somehow which is odd considering they obviously wanted us gone. Very very poor experience. Corky’s presence was definitely missed and felt painfully.

It was my second time in this wonderful restaurant, and I was immediately greeted by an employee by the name of Glen. He was kind, and he engaged in a conversation, and he even gave us a salad on him. The food was was great, the people were friendly, and the history was rich. I highly recommend this place. Regardless if the poor reviews, this place was absolutely perfect. 6 stars if I could.

Top restaurant historical and a time capsule not to mention the great service in a location that looks unimpressive but inside the best Italian food from pizza thru formal Italian options. A must go see in Dallas.

This place is great for its Pizza’s and history! It is a must see /eat for people that want to find«alleged» mafia locations in Dallas. And for people that love to experience living history associated with the Kennedy Assassination. This was one of Jack Ruby’s favorite places to visit and he and Joe Campisi(the alleged under-boss for the Dallas Mafia) was one of his friends, and Campisi visited Ruby after he was incarcerated for killing Oswald. Aside from that if it had no «alleged» history(wink, wink) the food alone is amazing… I go there an order a large pizza with Italian sausage, mushrooms, and Canadian bacon and it is wonderful! So come for the history and stay for the food my friends!!! Here is a link to Campisi’s Deposition before the House Select Committee on Assassinations:

Really yummy! Really enjoyed the décor of the restaurant, very classic and definitely takes you back in time! I ended up ordering a small cheese pizza with mushrooms and I was NOT disappointed! The serving was enough for one person and the crust was thin enough for me to actually enjoy it! Our server was friendly with a great sense of humor, really enjoy when servers actually have personality! Overall enjoyed my experience and look forward to coming back!

Have been meaning to look in on Campisi during trips to Dallas and finally did … So so good! have not been here for 30 years but the house salad hasn’t changed and remains delicious. Chicken Marsala with sauteed spinach was simply yummy.

A group of friends and I just finished dining at Campisi’s for the first time. It was a fantastic experience. The food was timed well and tasted amazing. Our waitress«Mama» was the daughter of the owner and was great. She took time to tell us of the history of the restaurant and brought us samples of various dishes. We absolutely enjoyed our experience and food. I highly recommend this experience.

I came here to have dinner and the food was not all that great was basically average the bread seems like it came from toast was no rolls like a traditional Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was OK little dark I don’t think I would be going back to this restaurant I really did not like it I mean if you want something quick fast standards are not that high then I would suggest this restaurant other than that if you’ve been to a nice Italian restaurant I would not suggest this restaurant the foods just to greasy.

honestly, the food here is average & you can get better tasting food at some pretentious, over priced, Italian bistro; but who wants to hang around a bunch of schmucks?! what makes this place cool is the vibe & the history. seriously, it’s hard to find a person here in Dallas that has not had a taste of Campisis pizza, BUT, do they know the history? have they gone to the original restaurant? do they think it’s Egyptian food? it’s not… it’s not Egyptian… Google it. the Campisi family landed in New Orleans from Sicily and later settled in Dallas. maybe they had connections to the mob, maybe they didn’t, whatever. jack ruby chilled here; this very building(he’s the one that shot Lee Harvey Oswald, whom was also from New Orleans). this place is cool. here’s my recommendation: –sit at the bar –don’t order the garlic bread — it’s smooshy & nothing special. –order cocktails and relax –order pizza and maybe a salad. –take in the retro vibe of the place and imagine if the walls could talk.

I absolutely love this restaurant. I come here so often when in the area, it never gets old! I used to always order the eggplant parmesan, but lately I have been loving the pizza. I also order a small dinner salad, which is one of the best parts of my entire meal. It is delicious, one of my favorite salads at any restaurant. The pizza though, is so tasty. I order garlic, green olives, and green peppers for toppings, making a delightful combination. I have never had any issue with a waiter, they are always kind. If you love Italian food or just want good pizza, come here!

The food was below average and Mafia atmosphere is too much, especially with all the reports about longtime manager Joe Campisi being involved with the Mafia and John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. The book, The Hidden History of the JFK Assassination by Lamar Waldron, gives new details on Campisi’s role, which is backed up by FBI documents and tapes. Going to this place is supporting a Mafia family which likely helped kill JFK and changed the direction of the country. I don’t plan to return.

My boyfriend brought me here for our Valentine’s Day dinner. He made reservations ahead of time and even though we got there a little bit early, we were immediately seated. The host was very nice and friendly. Fast service, food was good. The waiter was a bit intimidating, though. The atmosphere was alright, slightly louder than your average restaurant but that was not really a problem for us. I am not crazy about this place but I would come back. We had a good time overall.

I really do love this restaurant. Tons of restaurants in DFW, but this one is lasting and there’s just something about it that has me going back. It’s not gourmet and it’s not really even that authentic. But, the pizza is great, the salads are some of my favorites, and I love the pasta sauce here. Love the desserts too. Try the cheesecake, the Italian Crème Cake, and one of the coffee drinks for dessert. Good kid options if you need those. Nice night out. My only compaint is I’m not super impressed with the bread.

Campisi’s is a Dallas staple. It’s your standard Italian fare. I think it’s a bit too expensive to that canned sauce type of place, but for some reason I still visit once a year, maybe for the nostalgia.

When your girlfriend from Chicago raves about the place, you know you’ve found a gem of an Italian place. I was in Dallas for five nights and we ate here twice. Garlic bread to die for, Roman style pizza, and cottage fries that the Mob would kill for. I’m not a fan of Dallas, but I’m a fan of Campisi’s.

The recommended claws were very good. We over-orderd with salads and pizza. Fun atmosphere, professional service and good food. It is always interesting to step back in time and see what Dallas first tasted when the food was Italian.

Been a customer all my life. Great food, great service. We like to go to the Tuesday night spaghetti special — either meat sauce or a huge meatball. Regina is a sweetheart, she makes sure you are enjoying your meal. Order a pizza to take home too, the pizza is addictive.

Totally a mafioso appearing Italian(sign says Egyptian) restaurant. We ordered a chicken alfredo pizza to go… big mistake. It could have been so much better. I think the best thing to do is to come here for dinner and get the whole experience. The place was packed, old school Italian family restaurant complete with red seats and curtains. It was very dark in there. VERY, with those little mesh covered jars candles that were a throwback to the 70s. 5″ high lasagna sighting. The salad we ordered was drenched in dressing, could have used about ½ the dressing and would have been better. I’m giving the place another chance next time I’m in town, the place was packed for a reason and it was the night before Easter.

Jesus what a horrid disappointment. We went in for lunch and ordered the combo plate(spaghetti w/meatball, lasagna, ravioli) and spaghetti w/meat sauce. Plates came with house salad, or, should I say a bowl of chopped lettuce with a pepperoncini and a Spanish olive. Seriously? There are so many places that go so cheap on a salad. To me a salad is filled with multiple vegetables, not a bowl of lettuce with some gross dressing. At least put some onion and tomato in it. The complimentary bread was another flop. Three pieces with one being to dry and crisp and the other two under toasted and chewy. The combo plate was one of the most amateur presented plates I’ve seen. What it looked like was they placed two pieces of ravioli, spaghetti with one meatball, and, a portion of lasagna on the plate, then found the biggest ladle they could find and drowned the dish with one of the most bland and watery sauces I’ve had. Prego is better than their crap. Their sauce had no zing. Or zang. There were no fresh herbs and spices jumping up and down on your taste buds. Nothing that made this sauce stand out. Watery blahness. The meatball was another spiceless bore. Seasoning people, seasoning! Seasoning was lacking in this food. The lasagna was also watery. Made me think it was frozen. We won’t be back. Both of us were very disappointed. We never ate the food. Our waiter, who was a doof, at first brought out the wrong food. He gave us an insincere apology. Seriously, he was just reciting words. «Sorry about the mix up». Before we could respond he had moved on. He asked if we wanted to go boxes and I said no. I then told him we weren’t happy with the food, and, no shit, he said«Are you through with your salads? Let me get these out of your way». We were charged full price. Never again. Welcome to the Nasty List!
