Just as good as I remember — much better than Jake’s. Excellent fries and onion rings. Just overlook the grouch(not Harvey) that takes your order. We’ll definitely be back!

Harvey hasn’t missed a beat since he left Lovers Lane. Good food, good service and Harvey still has that edge about him. Burgers are fresh beef every day. Can’t be beat. You ask for crisp fries and you get crisp fries.

Harvey Goff is Back, and looking great, food is what you have been craving since he sold the original location years ago! And the service… well…it’s Harvey Goff! Great experience and great food. The new restaurant is really nice, and simple, which is great. There isn’t enough of that these days! It’s been 15 years since my last«Goffs» burger, I can assure you it won’t be another 15 years before I go back. Go say Hi to Mr. Goff… Dallas has missed your fantasic attitude and your food blister for years. Thank you for coming back!

Don’t think this place will last. The man behind the counter(who appeared to be the owner) was actually quite rude. Don’t think he was meant for the front line. Burger wasn’t that great and the fries were undercooked. Definitely won’t be going back.

Something about a charcoal grilled burger that always whets my appetite. Harvey’s has re-opened after changing their name from Goffs, so if it seems like you are in a place you have been before and seeing people you have seen before that is why. Though Harvey’s is probably best known for its burgers, it is not their burgers that thrill me. Personally, I think their burgers are just ok. The star of this show are their fries and onion rings, some things all too many of Dallas’ burger joints fail at, but not Harvey’s.

Rename this place: Harvey’s Fries and Onion Rings. Sometimes you go to a place and you get the feeling that nobody wants to be here… not even the staff. Take heed to that feeling, because the burgers don’t want to be here either.

I figured I’d try this one… just opened up near my office. It has potential but needs a little work; 1) They were out of iced tea and weren’t able to get it refilled even though I asked. I paid for the drink but didn’t get it. I eventually dad to ask for a substitution. 2) The hamburger was a bit undercooked for my liking but has potential. 3) There was like 4 ketchup bottles in the whole place. All of them were nearly empty and had that crust on the caps that drives me nuts.

Oh fer goodnesssakes Harvey, you need to get the counter in order. I really want to like your new place and I really want to give you 4 or 5 stars but no way man. I held off rating you guys after my first trip hoping things would improve(chewing out an employee right behind the counter in sight of all 4 of your customers, really???). Second trip — review, I ordered a cheeseburger with pickles. I’m told I should order the # 4 with cheese. OK, cool, I’ll definitely remember next time. No deduction, your place, your rules. Today’s burger, like the last time, no pickles on burger. In fact, none of your menu items even mention pickles yet you keep them behind the counter. Both times I get up and go to the counter after inspecting the burger and get my pickles. Today’s second strike, no cheese. Sigh. I let that go. Burger is decent, fries were good, but dangit, get the order straight. Next time I’m in the plaza getting my haircut we’re gonna do this again and hopefully you’ll get it right. There will not be a 4th time if you don’t. Good luck Harvey, I really want you to succeed here but I ain’t handing out stars you haven’t earned.

I remember the days when we would all draw straws to see which one of us had to be the one to go pick up burgers at Goff’s old place. The burgers at his new place are just as tasty and just as affordable. My wife, my son and I went this past Saturday and we got Hickory burgers as well as the regular burgers and fries and onion rings. They were all incredibly tasty. Also, my wife loves the grill toasted buns. All of this with served up with a healthy side of attitude from the old guy. I love it and loved every bite.

This place just opened up near my work so I thought I would try it out. Me and a coworker ordered burgers, fries and onion rings to go for pick up. The gentleman on the phone said it would be ready in 5 minutes! Super fast! So I ran there real quick. It’s about 3 minutes from my job. Upon arrival there were three customers at tables and 5 peoples behind the counter(register, line cook, grill cook, bun toaster, fry person). No one greeted me and the cashier has a sour face the entire time I was ordering like he hated his job and the world and didn’t want to be there. But how can that be? They JUST opened. Anyways that’s the first strike. Poor customer service on a new place is definitely not inviting. I was told the onion rings were cooking so it would be a minute. No problem I understand. When the food was ready the grill cook threw the burgers in the bag and then tossed them onto the counter. Out rolls the burger top bun and the meat patty onto the counter… So he grabs it quick, places it in the bag, sets the bag down, and then turns around to do nothing. So now I’m disgusted by this point. But o well I’m not a germaphobe so I’m gonna eat it anyways. It’s a new place how gross could it be. Strike two. I asked for ketchup packs on my way out. The cashier said«Ugh, we don’t have those.» Cool. Thanks. I get back to the office(3 minutes) so it’s been about 8 – 10 minutes since I was given my food. I go to take a bite. Cold. 100% cold. And so was my coworkers. The fries were Coke and soggy. The only thing that actually had flavor and tasted good were the onion rings. They were hand battered and absolutely delicious. Everything else was horrible. The burger was cold. The bun was stale AND overly toasted to the point of burned. The cheese was shredded cheese of some kind that was cold and should be on a salad not a burger. I couldn’t believe how bad this whole experience was considering it’s a NEWLY opened business. And there used to be another location so I assumed they would have their«stuff» together. Wrong. Maybe I’ll try it again in a year or so but I don’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a good burger. Try burger Bueno across the highway off coit. Much better service and burgers.

Just like the good old days on lovers Lane. Excellent Charcoal burger with the little nuances that make them so great. Half-price burgers on Monday for dining in is a great deal!

Harvey and family have been serving up burgers in Dallas since 1950. The burgers haven’t changed a bit. The numbers are still the same just the names changed. Harvey still runs the register when he feels like it.

I’m torn on how many stars to give Harvey’s so I’m going with 4 because my burger was tasty, but there were definitely some quirks. We were in the Preston/LBJ plaza for lunch and see there was a «now open» sign in front of Harvey’s charcoal burgers so we figured let’s give it a shot. There is a bit of a line for a place that just opened and it’s a little chaotic from what I can see but I’ll write it up to just opening. Once you get to the front of the line your order is written on an old school order pad and the cashier verbally gives you a number that they will yell out when your food is ready. Food prices are really good $ 5 – 6 for burgers, $ 2.50 for an order of onion rings, but the drinks are outrageous. I think they charged me 2 something for a can of Dr Pepper and water didn’t appear to be free either so that was definitely a low point. Here’s hoping there is a fountain coming soon or the drink prices drop some! Once I got to my table after ordering my coworker and I discussed our numbers. My coworker felt pretty confident his number was 31 because it was on his receipt but I thought she told me 33 and there was no one who ordered in between us. So then I started 2nd guessing myself on what my number was.(It’d be nice if they handed me some bring with my number on it). After a bit I hear the counter hollering 33! Hayden and onion rings! Hey. That’s what I ordered. Maybe I was 33 after all! I go and pick up my food. A few minutes later my coworker still hasn’t gotten his food so he goes up to wait and I hear them yelling 32 and whatever he ordered but he was real sure he was 31 so he wasn’t picking that order up… I told him to go for it since it was exactly what he ordered. When he was picking up his food he mentioned his receipt said 31 and the cashier said«that number means nothing! I told you 32!» We laughed it off, someone may have referred to her as the burger version of the«soup nazi» character and we started eating. My burger was really good. It wasn’t pink inside(fine by me) but it was flavorful and juicy. I asked for some of the«red smoke sauce» on the side and it was really good. Kind of a hickory bbq-ish ketchup. The onion rings were crispy and tasty as well. My coworkers fries were not real crispy but he said they tasted ok. For the price the food was really good. Service… Ehhh. Once we got back to the office we looked up Harvey’s online and found an article from DMN about Harvey’s(and Harvey) and it actually mentioned the«soup nazi» character which was hilarious since we had a similar experience without even knowing the history of the place. I guess that’s the way he is(we didn’t interact with Harvey but it seems the cashier has his same attitude). If you want a good burger for cheap check it out but be aware there is a possible side of snark. Props to «Frank» the busboy for being super friendly!
