I, for one, am very sad that the Grill has closed. I thought it was an awesome brunch spot! Bloody Mary bar? $ 10 carafes of mimosa? Cinnamon Toast Crunch French toast? This all equated to the perfect Sunday in uptown. It always seemed busy too. RIP N&SG :’(

This place closed down last week 10÷25÷15. Unilocal should take this place down. Giant crowds for douchie brunch.

Purposely waited a week to write this to make sure I wasn’t being emotional. — new waiter was overwhelmed. Slow to greet. Had stuff in his hands. Left extra servings. — seeing he was in the weeds«mgmt» came to check and take wine order. Extra servings still left — calamari delivered which was ok. — ordered 2 ribeye at $ 50 a pop med and med rare — random checkins admitting server was weak — steaks arrived and not acceptable. Mine rare other bloody. Sent back to recook — bill arrives with no offer to comp anything. Now we will see if they want us to return if they see this

I was not the least bit impressed with this place. The menu doesn’t really offer a great variety and I couldn’t find anything that really stuck out so I settled for a hamburger and fries. First off who servers a hamburger al a carte besides this place? The meal was decent but not worth $ 28 for a burger and fries. Then they have truffle fries on the menu but when I asked the server if they had shaved truffles or truffle oil on them she said«neither.» «The Parmesan cheese makes them truffled.» Huh?! No, truffles would make them truffled sweetie. So either the server is misinformed or this place engages in false advertising. In fairness to them my Blueberry Mojito was sooo refreshing. Also my friend had the brisket and loved it. My other friends who tasted it said it was tasty as well. Overall, I wasn’t moved.((Kanye shrug))

Really loved the brisket eggs benny when we stopped by for brunch last weekend. The brisket was moist and the potatoes that came on the side were wonderful! Good flavors, not too salty and solid portions. Their coffee and mimosas are solid too! The only downside was the A/C was wayyy too cold inside.

Lunch here was so blah… We had a training waiter who was very disorganized. We all got the salmon with cilantro rice and the salmon lacked ANY flavor it needed at the very least salt and pepper. I ordered my salmon in between medium rare to medium and it was raw when I got it — I sent it back, they re-fired the same salmon(it would have been better to cook me a new salmon… plus I’m pretty sure that is a health code violation) and brought it back to me well done. The coffee was just above room temperature. Dessert tasted like pre-made pie. While everything here was edible, it certainly wasn’t enjoyable. I would not come back here or recommend to anyone else.

This place gets better and better each time I go! Truly love their brunch menu! Make sure if you are ordering the French Toast that you have to order all the sides to go along with it! This is where you can run into everyone in Dallas on a Sunday Afternoon. When the weather is perfect, the patio is a must. There is an up stairs area too if you have a large group. Expect a wait! Its totally worth it.

This place is the classic example of a brand not being able to extend into another format. The food is horrible. Giving it two stars because the service was good.

Captain Crunch French toast is a must try! You get two slices so it’s a great dish to split. It’s so good you don’t even need maple syrup. I liked their pork taco special and their build-your-own omelette. The pork was well marinated, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the potatoes. I thought they were too greasy. You could see the oil through the ones that were crispy. If I do recall, they were better about two weeks ago. I think they rotate some fresh squeezed juices and today they had watermelon so I tried that one. Not the best watermelon juice I’ve had, but it was good. Definitely a nice option, which I would get again. Their Bloody Mary self serve area is very cool and their Bellini tastes good and is light. They don’t allow dogs on their patio.

We stopped in the other night to grab a drink before calling it a night. We will likely be returning because our service was pretty good and the staff were all very friendly. PROS: We sat at the bar, and our bartender seemed to go a little«above and beyond.» We split a glass of wine, because they were out of an ingredient for a specific drink, and shared some appetizers. Nothing too fancy, just fries and chips and guacamole. We asked our bartender if we could get some salsa. He left and returned with it briefly. From what he said, they usually do not have salsa on hand; however, they make it fresh for their Sunday brunch the night before. He did not have to do this and could have focused on his cleaning, but I really appreciated that he took the extra time to meet our request. Both the salsa and guacamole were pretty tasty! As we exited, the staff were closing up for the night and all politely thanked us for stopping in! I am only going with 4STARS because we did not try an extensive amount of the menu, and we encountered one slight CON, which I will not mention because it was not something that was«the end of the world.» We hear they have a fantastic brunch, and will be returning to try it. If my second visit is like my first, then I am sure I will have no problem upgrading them to 5 stars.

I’ve lived in Dallas all my life and in and around Downtown for several years. This was my first brunch @ Nick & Sam’s Grill. I’ve heard various reviews and decided to try it out for a Saturday Brunch. It didn’t start well… we walked to the empty host stand and waited for several minutes… a host finally walked up, with no urgency and of course no apology for the wait. We were seated immediately, to our pleasant surprise. We expected a wait, so the quick seating made us forget the absent and almost worthless host. Then we sat… we were right next to a service stand so servers were within inches of our table… but no one stopped. It took 7 minutes… that’s a long time when you’re literally watching wait staff pass you by as if invisible. 10 minutes is my «let’s get out of here» limit, so this was close… Blair saved the day. She was an excellent server… I liked the way she started… she acknowledged that we were being ignored but played it off in a good way. She was great throughout the meal… KEEPBLAIR! The food was another saving grace… prepared and presented well and very filling. They have daily specials, even for brunch and the carafe of mimosas is only $ 1 more than a single glass, so great deal. Crowd was typical Uptowners and most in parties of four or more. A bit loud, but great people watching. Overall I like it and I’ll return for a different meal, hoping for a better start.

There are times when I find myself going against the Unilocaly grain with respect to existing reviews, but in the case of NIck & Sam’s Grill(not the steakhouse mind you), the hivemind has it pretty much spot on. There are better options in the city. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Outside of a prime location, Nick & Sam’s Grill boasts pleasantly diverse seating and both friendly and attentive staff. My date and I were seated immediately on a Wednesday early evening, and shortly after we had both drinks and dinner. No complaints. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? The Nick & Sam’s name alone could theoretically allow for some premium pricing, but I was pleased to find that the grill keeps things reasonable. Burgers come in at just under $ 15.00 with a side included(which is my burger threshold) and my smoked brisket came in at a reasonable $ 15.00 for a moderate portion. Single Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Maybe living in Dallas now for two and a half years has made me a bbq snob, but it’s difficult to say that Nick & Sam’s smoked brisket was anything other than sub-par. First and foremost, you can see in the picture that the smoked brisket was absolutely drenched in salty bbq sauce. That’s a huge no-no in Texas, and the result was brisket that tasted like, well, salty barbecue sauce. From there nothing really did it for me, from the mediocre potato salad to the sub-par slaw and undercooked texas toast. My date’s burger looked okay, and while I had a taste of the decent fries, she didn’t rave about it. Sorry, but in a barbecue and burger town, Nick & Sam’s fell short in both. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? There better options within half a mile. No Stars Granted.

I have always loved Nick and Sam’s for brunch. They kicked off a new menu recently. I ordered the bbq brisket eggs benedict and it was just as awesome as it sounds. We weren’t drinking today, but they had a Blue Hawaiian Sangria that sounded deadly(in the best way possible). I love their open concept — indoors/outdoors — is a nice touch. Although it’s been humid lately so the patio is less enticing, but they can’t control that. Our waiter, Brian was great and not too hard on the eyes ;) he also recommended the captain crunch french toast and I was also considering their blueberry ricotta pancakes. I’d say they hit the new menu out of the park. I’ll definitely be back soon!

It’s okay. Maybe it was a bad experience. There is a lot of seating and gets really busy on the weekends. We got unlucky and sat upstairs with another group of people looking just to have brunch with friends and got stuck joining someone else’s private party. I understand the need to fill seats to make money, but the private area should be reserved for the loud party themselves. We had no business there. It was a group of 20 – 30 people. I never knew people could shout that loud. We couldn’t even talk because it was so loud. We just gave up. Even the poor waiter was yelling at the top of his lungs to be heard. And he lost his voice towards the end. The food was meh. Nothing that really calls out on the menu. Nothing too special, just your normal brunch foods. I got the special which was egg and steak tacos. They were really filling and really good. There are better brunch places in Dallas.

First time there just the other night. Ordered a nice bottle of wine with my husband, tuna tar tar for an appetizer and the pork chop for dinner. Went home stuffed but with a strange stomachache. Went to bed and at three o’clock was awoken with the sudden urge to be sick. Got food poisoning and was sick ALL night. I know for a fact it was either from the tar tar or the pork(leaning more towards the pork because it had a funny taste). Husbands pork chop was fine but we had to send his back as it was raw. Waitress didn’t seem to care and wasn’t even apologetic about the raw pork chop. Gross joint and will NOT be EVER eating here again. Want food poisoning? Ha. Nasty. Fail.

Expect to wait here if you’re planning a weekend brunch, but I’d say it is worth it. Food was great, nice casual atmosphere and reasonable service, I wouldn’t say amazing though. Definitely a place I’ll visit again.

Went for brunch on a Saturday at 1pm, the atmosphere was lively, but we didn’t have to wait for a table. Our server Cassie was friendly and attentive. We ordered the steak egg rolls for an appetizers, I had the Eggs Benedict and my boyfriend had the Captain Crunch French Toast. The steak egg rolls were very good, a large portion, great for sharing. The Eggs Benedict was good, not the best I’ve ever had. However, the Captain Crunch French Toast was probably the best version of French Toast I’ve ever had. It is a must have! Overall great service, casual atmosphere, great food and reasonable prices.

We’ve been in Uptown so many years, we finally made it into N&SG to try out their brunch menu. Overall, I was impressed with their food, especially the Captain Crunch French toast. WOW, it melts right into your mouth on your first bite!

3.5 Stars Brunch: I like Nick & Sam’s Grill, but there’s just something missing that gives it 4 stars. The food, although good, is missing that wow factor. Pretty simple ingredients that are just presented well. It’s also pricey because it’s «NICKANDSAM’S»… grill. The same dish somewhere else would be $ 3 less. Unfortunately, there is not a bottomless mimosa option here, but their carafes are still reasonable. They are definitely not stingy with the champaige, so feel free to get your Sunday Funday on here. The ambiance is nice, and it’s good for people watching in the summer, as they draw in an attractive crowd. If it’s crowded, there is free bread to munch on near the front doors while you wait, which is a nice touch.

YUMYUMYUM!!! Seriously this was an extremely delicious brunch. For drinking, I had mimosas and bloody marys — both fantastic. Especially the bloody marys. I’m usually not a fan but these were fab. For food I had the brisket scramble with scrambled eggs. It was awesome. I also had some biscuits to start which were just OK. Overall — great brunch! If I’m back in Dallas I’ll be back!
