Once Upon a Child

Awful staff. So unhelpful and uncaring. Simply put — they don’t give a ****. The staff have absolutely no initiative or drive. No pleasantries or even smiles and no desire to connect to their customers.

Very dry personality of both workers not a happy place to shop… as a shopper some pleasenatries are in order such as «GOOD MORNING HOW CAN I HELP YOU» as I stood there waiting she answered a personal call with the same nasty attitude exhibited.

I called 3 times to get information on how this transaction would go, I told them in advance what type of items I had which were swings, a play pen, saucer etc. I get there and come to find out we had to assemble all of the equipment ourselves for them to test! If I would have known what to expect i may have not gotten so angry once they told us that out of nowhere. In the 3 calls that I made this morning to the store not once did they mention we would be assembling the items, I’ve never dealt with one of these stores so that was not on my mind to ask, but the employees responsible for answering the questions should know enough to make that a topic of the conversation when someone is calling and is Obviously new to this. After being blindsided by that I said ok I’ll give it a try, but my frustration grew once they pointed is to a little cramped corner to attempt our mission impossible assembly venture. We also had our kids with us which made it more on an inconvenience. The store had to be a humid 85 – 90 degrees, this was the worst retail experience in my life, the staff we dealt with at the counter were rude, unapologetic and had a matter of fact type attitude. If anyone wants to know their buying payouts, I was advised that depending on condition and brand of the item the store will re-​sale the item at about 50% of the going rate for the item, then they will pay you 30−50% of the price that they will be listing it for sale in their store. Example bring in an item, they look it up and see its for sale online for $ 100, they will sale it in store for $ 50 and you as the seller will get 30−50% of their $ 50 sale price depending on the condition of the item. Another thing that blew my mind was that while we were there someone was selling some clothes and other small items and the worker told the seller «ok you can pick up the money for the items tomorrow «the seller was not expecting that at all he was also pretty mad. My wife and I ended up walking out with our items and loading the car back up, all the non-​sense was definitely not worth the hassle this place puts you through. Again maybe if things were better communicated and staff and upkeep of the store was better then it would have been a better experience.

As a shopper this place does seem to have nice clothes. I wasn’t impressed with the toy selection, but they did have a nice Rock ‘n Play for $ 18. I’ll probably be back to pick up more clothes down the road, because it definitely appeared as though they are picky about what they take for clothes. Some of the other items were hit or miss, but I’ll be back for sure.

They have a huge selection of clothes and books, but I was searching for a walker for my nephew while he is in town. They only had one available for $ 25, but it looked a little dirty. We opted to get a new one at Target across the street instead.

This place is awful when it comes to service! They are rude and liars! I took a lot of good stuff to sell and I’m talking about jumper, bamboo, Janie and Jack, Ralph Lauren clothes and more good quality since my son is only 10 months old. Well they told me to go back the next day but I couldn’t so I called and asked if I could go the next day and they said yes that was fine well I go back and they tell me my stuff has been donated and they can only give me store credit for the rest. Like seriously I had called to make sure I could come back and get my money and the only thing the said was well we don’t know who u talked to??! And in a rude way!
This has been the worst experience ever! I’m never going back.

They have a killer selection, but coats do not come in until next week. My sister purchased 2 huge bags for 250. In Germany, she would have only been able to get about 4 or 5 outfits for that price. Good selection of Halloween costumes.

I can always find good quality clothing for my lil guy here. Very cheap!

This was my third trip to Once Upon a Child. My first experience was good; they gave me a printout of what they had bought and gave me a good enough payment. The second trip was less good and I did not get a printout. Third trip, they said it was against policy to give a printout and offered me pennies for the great clothes I was trying to sell (which I refused and said I’d never be back). I’d rather GIVE the clothes away than take so little for what I know are great clothes (many of which still had their tags on them).
