I ordered Chicken Parm. This was a huge waste of money! The diet coke I ordered was hot to the point the it was almost too hot to hold. The chicken was paper sliced thin with barely melted Parmesan cheese on top. Way too expensive for what you get.

Where do I begin, never wrote a review before but being in the industry I believe it’s best to let not only managers but owners as well… First off was my husbands favorite place to get minestrone(that’s all he ever gets) tonight we were feeling some minestrone. we started with the fried Alvarado stuffed with crab. We get it looked pretty but was cold on the inside. When we asked sever, manager came over and said that’s how it’s suppose to be. And offered another app instead we agreed it came(still no soup:() no soup. WECAMEFORTHESOUP!!! We eat ok app. Still no soup two glasses of wine each in. We ask to close out seeing as there’s no soup in sight. Manager comes over says server rang soup in 5 mins ago? Like seriously oh and the kicker there out. And will have to whip some uo real quick??? soo so so disappointed we use to love going there situation was handled terribly. All we wanted was soup. Instead we spent $$$$ ok wine no apology just excuses., I by any means wasn’t looking for a discount or anything just wanted my damn soup! WEWILLNEVERBEBACK!!!’ Warn everyone ! Thx also I would have left negative stars but that’s impossible

This is a usual brunch location for me. Joseph is one of our coveted servers that provides such excellent service during each dining experience. He stays on top of the $ 1 mimosas while the backwait staff keeps the waters topped off. The breakfast pizza is good, but add scrambled eggs to the Genovese or any other house pizza for a special brunch treat! The Penne Hash is another favorite. Try it with or without the hollandaise. My overall experience keeps me coming back whenever stuck in a hangry stomach moment.

I would rate this restaurant a «5» because of the service, but service is only one of the total, right? I have been disappointed the last few experiences. Service is always excellent and the food comes out in a very reasonable time. Today I ordered the chicken Parmesan; I was very disappointed because it was thin, dry and overcooked. It was served with a tiny side of bland, overcooked angel hair spaghetti. There was barely any sauce on either item, which is so disappointing. The Cesar salad had a small, small, small amount of dressing and(I’m not kidding) ONE small slice of parm on top. Please help save your restaurant for us that want you to be successful and provide us with a good experience. NODRYPASTA and/or SALAD, please! Thanks for listening.

The food here is alright, it’s more of a convenient restaurant to get italian food because it’s within walking distance from SMU. I’m not a huge fan of their create your own pasta mainly because of how tiny the serving is. It’s literally one handful of noodles or what you would imagine a kid’s meal to look like. I wouldn’t mind paying more for the pasta if it meant getting a larger serving because each time I’ve ordered it, my friends and I still find ourselves hungry so we load up on more bread. However, I have tried the california pizza, and I do enjoy that a lot more! It’s a fresh pizza, with avocado, feta, tomatoes, and chicken on mozzarella cheese — not heavy at all! Some of the toppings tend to fall off but at least you know it’s not weighed down by other unhealthy ingredients. It’s a pretty big pizza so I normally can’t finish the entire thing. A much better portion that the create your owns. Unless you’re looking for a snack-size serving, I would avoid the create your owns and just order something from their normal menu!

If I was rating Penne Pomodoro based on the service we received from Joe and their hostess, it would be a resounding five stars. A first class experience from Joe and the hostess(sorry I do not remember her name) and the fact that the night we were there they were donating fifteen percent to a the Woodrow Wilson Band Boosters made this review stay above one star. The problem was the food. I’m not trying to be mean but I really like to taste my food and my risotto and a fellow diner’s risotto was flavorless. I will admit the mussels were srteamed perfectly but they were not cleaned well. the appetizer sampler was a bit clunky and what the heck are those pizza puffs all about? Fried pizza dough with nothing in it, come on man! The prices said that they were a decent quality Italian restaurant. I saw they need to learn how to prepare Italian food properly. I do believe in second chances and visiting Joe at the bar is worthy of a visit without a doubt. I’m hoping they do better and I have a reason to update my review.

2 of us dined here one evening. 2 small portions of gluten-free bolognese. No salads, no apps, no cocktails, just water and sketti. $ 28 with tax. Wow. Service was swift and pleasant.

I really want to like this place, but I’ve been here a few times and just don’t enjoy the food, and it seems to be a bit run down. Tonight we were seated in a booth that had duct tape covering a tear on the seat. The focaccia bread tasted overly salty. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and was very disappointed. It was thin, dry and overcooked. It was served with a tiny side of bland, overcooked spaghetti. There was barely any sauce on either item. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because I did feel the service was excellent.

I can’t believe I’m just now getting around to rating this place! I moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and due to my work and travel schedule I eat out often. This place has become like a second home to me! Half priced wine on Monday and Tuesday, brunch specials with $ 1 mimosas on weekends, all the food is super fresh(meaning you can tell they put thought into the menu, nothing is laden with salt, sugar, and fat to cover up anything), the soups are amazing, pastas come out quick and loaded with yummy sauce, the daily specials are always great… and to top it off, the staff is amazing! Love. This. Place.

I will not be coming back to Penne Pomodoro ever again. I went in last night with 2 friends. We sat down and a roach crawled across our table. The waitress was standing next to out table taking our drink order. She literally took her serving dish and smashed it on the table. Needless to say, we moved to another table. I wanted to leave but my friends love one of their pasta dishes. I was not impressed with my chicken and did not finish it because I was grossed out. Nothing was said or done about the roach by the staff. We did, however, have a woman that stood over us wanting to take any dish that was not being used while trying to have a converstation.

Sunday brunch in the Lakewood location isn’t nearly as busy as Snyder Plaza. That’s a good thing! Cozy atmosphere. Three of us for brunch. Ordered mimosas. They have a good pour here and the mimosas are $ 1 each I think. Maybe $ 2, but still very good price. We asked for bread and they brought house bread with the olive oil and balsamic. Too heavy on the balsamic vinegar. And the waiter could have come around to check on it. The bread was hot. Husband and friend decided to order a create your own pasta dish. Both were really good. Fresh and hot. Choices for toppings are limited. But they do add a veggie to it. Good flavor. I had the special frittata, with sausage. It was very good, not too heavy. It’s a bit on the dry side though, so I asked for a side of marinara and the added flavor and sauce made it just right. The potatoes served with it were also very good. Reasonable prices, good portions.

Love, love, love $ 1 mimosas & belinis on Sundays. I think I had like 10. The bellinis were the best. The pizza here is so good and so is the lasagna. Very fresh, tasty fare. The pasta dishes are also very good and filling. I love the garlic bread too.

Dependable and comfortable. Good pasta-based comfort food with a warm, intimate environment. Both traditional pasta, risotto and other Italian dishes, as well as a full gluten-free menu for those struggling with celiac disease but still craving dishes normally containing the offending protein. I had the baked ziti, Gal Pal had the gluten-free bread followed by a risotto with mussels. Both of our dishes were nourishing and delicious. They are now offering brews from Lakewood Brewery, so I had a Lakewood Lager to wash my pasta down. Not my first time here and won’t be my last. :)

I’m loving my brunch more and more. Also, if you get a chance sit in Joe’s section. Fantastic service! I actually wake up craving the Savory Waffle at least once a month. Dollar mimosa’s are excellent and try the pumpkin ravioli served as an appetizer. It’s amazing. I’m hooked.

Always great customer service and wonderful food! We are grateful if for their ample vegetarian and gluten free menu items. We also found this to be a good go to for larger family dinners and if kids are with us. Love it and glad it’s close to our neighborhood!

A Lakewood gem! The mushroom sauce on my gluten-free pasta was amazing. It’s got a mixture of shitake and baby bella with a creamy tomato sauce. The gluten-free pasta was cooked so perfectly. So, with that being said, they have a whole gluten-free menu which is pretty awesome. Coming back to try the gluten-free pizza.

After wanting to try this place for a while, we finally stopped in the other day for brunch. I love brunch, and the idea of italian food with dollar mimosas is blissful. Now so everyone is aware, this is owned by the dudes who operate Sangria, Taverna and Toulouse all over by Knox street, and some of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. Hopefully the owners burn this crap shack to the ground. The mimosas were decent, sweeter than others but alright for a dollar. It was the food that was so bad. Taverna is so freaking good, I assumed they would be able to handle a second italian menu. Clearly i was wrong. everything we ordered was sub par. My chicken parm was salty as hell, and came with a side of spaghetti so small even the smallest of children would object. I was literally so upset that i went home and cooked the meal for myself that night to make sure i still enjoyed it! Overall, the service was decent, and the atmosphere is nice, but NOONE liked their food. For that i am truly disappointed in the Lombardi’s.

I frequent Uptown Yoga next door and as I go to dinner afterward with friend and yoga instructor to catch up and feed ourselves we end up here on occasion. Whereas it’s Italian they have options that don’t necessarily boast the Italian theme. I’ve gone with the salmon and vegetables in a lemon butter sauce and sub the potatoes for a side of linguini(lemon butter sauce on salmon for the noodles). It is SOGOOD that I am incapable of getting anything else. INCAPABLE. Friend gets other options and everything always looks so good and we rarely leave without finishing the majority of food. Since I get the salmon it’s a bit over $ 10 but I feel it’s worth it. The atmosphere isn’t so posh that you would feel uncomfortable in workout clothes but it’s a nice establishment at the same time. I have noticed that families with children are drawn to this place and there is always children in there. Not sure what the attraction for them is… but it is what it is. I’ve gone once, I’ve gone twice, and I will keep going likely.

We tried this location for Sunday brunch and were very disappointed. We have been to the other two locations and the experience was much better. To start: our table and seats were dirty when we sat down; the menus had big pieces of leftover food stuck to them. Yuck. Not a pleasant beginning. Unfortunately, this location does not have $ 1 Bloody Marys, wish I had known that before we went. It does offer $ 1 Mimosas. I did not appreciate the fact that our server tried to get us to order focaccia as an appetizer, knowing full well that a complimentary order came with brunch. Because we had been to other locations we knew this and did not order, but it struck me as a bit dishonest. Our food was a major disappointment. One person got poached eggs, which are supposed to be runny, but they were closer hard boiled and the yoke did not run at all. This is a major mistake, as any beginning cook learns how to poach an egg. Another person got the eggs benedict and the muffin underneath was some weird greasy texture that had no taste, not an english muffin. For both, the potatoes were tasteless and not good. The accompanying garlic bread was stale and hard. Hardly edible. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli, but they were the world’s smallest ravioli. They were actually the size and shape of tortellini, so maybe the same cook who does not know how to poach an egg also does not know the difference between ravioli and tortellini. They had less than one-half teaspoon of pumpkin in each, and there were only 8 – 9 «ravioli» for $ 12.95. It was a rip off, even though the flavor was good. I left as hungry as when I arrived. The Preston Rd. location had actual ravioli in the correct size and shape. Overall, the food was less than average and was way overpriced for what we got. We definitely will not return. And our waitress did not even thank us for our business. The one good thing is that on a Sunday morning parking is not a problem, and I think I know why.

Lunch with a friend proved to be a good choice here and it was for her birthday! A sleepy Monday afternoon and the host was joking about«hmm maybe I can find you a seat»… the place was empty. It was cute. I had the pasta choice mix your own with whole wheat Penne(add 75c) two meat balls(add 75c each) and arrabiata sauce. She had the eggplant parm and seemed to be unflattered with the cheese in it… but thought it was good enough to dissect it before my eyes and find that dang eggplant! He brought us the check and I was like WOW…(whips out my Philly accent) «How you not gonna ask me if I don’t want some cawfee or a canolly or tear-me-sue, eh?» OMG man! He laughed and said, did you want some coffee? Well duh… bring me some coffee. After the nice décor and warm presentation I was a little taken back by the Denny’s style coffee cup, but it tastes just fine. Then the check never returned… I was like«hey, pssst, hey youz… can’t I get da check now?» tanks…
