Checked this place out for the first time. Great food, fast friendly service, and super cheap. We got two ¼ chicken meals, two drinks and sweet plantations for $ 10.81. You can’t even buy one meal for that at a restaurant. Check this place out.

Are you kidding me with the 5 star reviews? This location is not going to make it. The food is super greasy and bland. Add To that the food being cold and the biscuits were rocks. I agree with the other reviewer, that i should have gone to cowboy chicken or even grocery store rotisserie chicken. This place is Caribbean like Mcdonalds is Irish.

Meh. I’ve had better. Definitely try a chicken dish. The calypso beef and pulled pork was too fatty.

We stopped by on Dec. 27th around 6pm. Ordered Chicken Wings Beef Trio Chicken Pork Beef Trio with Yellow Rice Black Beans and fries. Plus 2 beers. The service was very friendly and the restaurant is clean and BRIGHT on the inside. The food came out and it wasn’t bad, just alittle cooler and less hot than we expected. We’ll have to give them another shot maybe during a busier time of the day?

After frequenting the one in Denton in my college days, I was so excited that a Pollo Tropical opened up behind my office in Dallas! This is a great spot for an inexpensive go-to lunch or even just picking up dinner. My usual meal is the ¼ Chicken platter with black beans, yellow rice, and boiled yuca(I definitely recommend mixing the cilantro garlic sauce in). I’m pretty sure the bank is getting suspicious of how many charges I’m putting on my card here. The staff is incredibly courteous and nice, whether I’m driving through or dining in I’m always greeted with a smile and great conversation. The reason I didn’t go all the way to 5 is that sometimes they take a bit to get all of my order ready, and have placed the wrong item in my meal. Which could easily be solved with a little more attention to detail!

I am addicted! I tried this place out for the first time last week and I have been back 3 times since. I LOVE their grilled boneless chicken! Seasoned perfectly, tender, literally melts in your mouth. It BLOWS Chic fil A’s away! They also have healthy sides to choose from like brown rice and green beans. The green beans are not your typical mushy fast food green beans. They taste like the ones from the Whole foods deli. Delish! Price and customer service is awesome too! Can’t say enough good things about this place. Definitely must try!

I had the half chicken all white and was really good. Yuca and garlic mojo was awesome… beans were ok… they have to improve the white rice since it was overcooked. Prices are cheap!

i was excited when this location was advertising to be built! i was driving out of the way to addison simply to visit the beltline location! I even VIP’d to the VIP guest tasting event. Everything was great. The quality of the food was fantastic. Food was fresh, rolls were soft, chicken was hot, portions were fair and adequate. Several times after work I have come here and have experienced the extreme opposite. EVERYTIME afterwards, my rolls are hard as a rock — i usually have to microwave them to keep them soft. If I am ordering extra rolls occasionally, why should I have to microwave them to keep them soft? The temperature of the chicken is mediocre. Typically by the time I get home, it is cold which leads me to believe that they keep the chicken under a heat lamp. Which leads to another thought… If the remainder of my visits after the VIP Guest Tastings are drive thru, and are during dead hours(3 to 4 pm or after 10pm with no one in line) then why is my food taking so long to get to me? I am surprised each time I have to wait more than 5 minutes to receive my food,(assuming it is being made) and then get home to it being cold or slightly warm. Each of my last 5 visits, I’ve had something wrong! I ordered white meat, got dark. I ordered red beans, got black beans. Order yellow rice, red beans, get home to yellow rice and no beans. Asked for pineapple rum and barbecue sauce, received no sauce at all. Not even the garlic sauce for my yuca that is supposed to come with it! It took the Addison location several months to start slacking on service and quality but not with Greenville! I am so disappointed. They even stopped by my place of work prior to their grand opening so we could hand out fliers and I caped for them hard! The most consistent problem is the rolls and beans. The rolls are ALWAYS hard!!! I cannot emphasize this enough! you might as well buy your own, and bring them to the restaurant or leave them at home if ordering drive thru! Also, the beans are 60% broth/water, rest is beans. Probably less beans than I am stating! I understand that you gotta cook beans with water and its broth but this is just ridiculous. It is very obvious the owners are trying to cut corners and maximize their profits everywhere they can, and I understand that! the thing is, even Addison is consistent with their servings of beans. If this location was able to get it together, I’d visit more often than once every 2 weeks. It is 2 stars because it is not always bad. The times they get it right, it is right but it is mostly bad. This is horrible because a few months back, I desired a place to order non-fried chicken at my disposal. I was very happy to see Pollo Tropical open up but am extremely disappointed now. The grand opening was fantastic and a great introduction but unfortunately, they have been unable to keep up the quality and taste. For now, I’ll keep visiting cowboy chicken and Central Market for great tasting roasted and grilled chicken with fantastic tasting sides(which also happen to be very close by neighbors!)!

POORCUSTOMERSERVICE! Don’t waste your time. The food is great, if you ever get the chance to have your order taken! I went on a Friday night and was the ONLY one in line, read again ONLYPERSONINLINE. The salsa bar attendant greeted me but didn’t bother to take my order. The cooks and staff behind the order counter never turned to face me. I have no idea how the other 4 people in the whole place ever got their order taken. I waited for 5 minutes and left to go to Chick Fil A — where they always have great customer service. Sad thing is, The Colony location was just as bad in Customer Service so I thought I’d give these guys a chance. Wrong so wrong. I don’t know who is «training» but they should be fired. Don’t waste your night there.

Man these guys have some great customer service!!! We were greeted by the manager when we walked. We interacted with several employees that were so nice and helpful! They offered good suggested and made it feel like a couple steps up from a typical fast food place. The chicken was tender and the rice/beans were good. They have plantains yall!!! Love that!!! A same is plenty, actually more than enough. The regular size bowl was huge.

I’m feeling a little salsa dance move coming on thanks to Pollo Tropical. My first and only visit to the Addison location didn’t really impress me, but now at Greenville I found what i was looking for. See, the quarter or half chicken meals don’t fill me up. The key? Family chicken meal… this is the way to go. You get a whole chicken, some plantains, and a large side(I have gotten the red beans and brown rice) as well as four rolls. The chicken is cut up into pieces so it’s easy to eat. I like the sometimes crispy, always tasty skin. The portion of red beans and rice is very large so everyone gets plenty to eat. The one mystery: how can this place make such a horrible roll?! These things are cold balls of dough that are better served throwing at people in a food fight versus actually trying to eat them. If PT could figure out how to make decent bread, or even HEAT the damn things up, I might even consider rolling out another star. I have also tried the corn soufflé which is good and want to try the mac ‘n cheese. Oh, and the best part of the family chicken meal? It’s something like $ 15.99. If you have two big eaters, this is more than enough food. Even rolling out three people it may be enough as long as one is a smaller portion eating female like my SO. You can add extra portions of the sides for cheap, and even other menu items if you need more protein for reasonable prices. Hope these guys keep it up! If so it’s in my regular cheap-meal rotation!

So the honey moon is over. I guess now the real service shows its true form lol and the funny part I hold the duke status here. We came in at 7:30 pm cause that’s what my receipt says I order the half chicken with rice beans and Mac which is the only reason why I come here they were out of white rice so I settled and got yellow. My fiancé got the chicken breast with rice and beans as well. It took 35 min for our order to come out when it came the guy said«we are out of Mac n cheese you want something else» I said«Damit ok I’ll have the mash and gravy». He brought the mash potatoes but no gravy they were out I said«nah I don’t want this give me fries than» so I got fries. as I was eating I notice people trying to order and noticing they were out of everything at 7 pm at diner time take in mind they are open till 12. The manager apologized to everyone and gave coupons and money back along with food. I was never told sorry nor offered any coupons or my money back I think it was unfair they didn’t have what I wanted and I didn’t receive any apology at least. As I was leaving I over herd a young couple got there money back and a free diner when the manager asked what side they would like she said Mac n cheese. I was upset cause that is what I wanted and was told they were out. When I asked the manager they have Mac n cheese he ignored me I was infuriated so as the calm person I am I went up to him and asked again he said no we are out. So yeah I don’t think I would be eating here again. How can you run out of food at 7 and claim to be open till 12.

Pretty good sides and the chicken was spot on. Way better options than Pollo Regio. Location was clean and the employees were pretty friendly. They bring out your order to your table. Not sure if we were suppose to pick up our dishes ourselves though… that part was a little confusing being that the opening of their trash cans were a bit on the small side and we didn’t know if we were suppose to sit there and separate trash VS dishes and utensils. I don’t know…

Omg! It’s like I’m back home in Miami, FL. I had a whole chicken with rice beans and the fried plantain. So good! Delicious, and just as good as I remembered it. I will definitely frequent this place. Especially since they are open late! I did notice the menu had a few items like Mac and cheese that must be there to appease a larger demographic. This is Caribbean food folks, not Mexican. Don’t complain about not getting tortillas or that the beans are wetter than you expected. This is a truly authentic real fast food experience. If you want delicious chicken I recommend the chicken on the bone. That’s the one that is always most flavorful. The boneless skinless and tropi chops are good but the best flavor is in the delicious fattening calorie ridden skin. Yummo. I can’t wait to go back and try the tropi chops and all the other sides.

I have been to the location in Addison and this one already far exceeds my expectation. I am kinda in heaven right now and I haven’t even tried the food yet. I mean it’s a beautiful day in October and as I walked up the sidewalk I was greeted with latin beats and a luring patio that looked just amazing. I actually need to eat and work thus I need to be inside but I just may sit for a few when all is said and done. So why am I in heaven. Already the customer service has been top notch like more than exceeds my expectations. Every single person has been über professional and hospitable. I was actually taken aback by the low review ratings when I opened Unilocal but that’s what this forum is about, sharing experiences. I ordered my meal with a wonderful young lady and yea they had yellow rice and corn soufflé — two things that the Addison location used to always be out of which would chap my hide like for real. Later on, I spilled some sauce on my hand and went around for a napkin. Lo and behold one of the ladies followed me around with a Fresh Nap packet! Wow! A+ Then the server came over and brought my food to my table and was just as nice. They really have made efforts to focus on customer service and it shows. It really adds to the experience for me and puts me in an even better mood. This is what it’s supposed to be about. Super duper trillion kudos to management and the team! No for the food. I go with a boneless platter with yellow rice and black beans with corn soufflé. The chicken is much more moist than the other location. The presentation was appetizing. This 5 star rating has been sealed with the quality of the food! Loving every second. Love that they have free WiFi and a patio and the place is clean all over and the parking lot is a nice size. Drive thru available.

My wife and I checked out Pollo Tropical for the first time last night, and we were very impressed.(It opened earlier this month.) We elected to go with the boneless chicken breast combo, and we both got the same two sides – the Caribbean Corn Soufflé and the Macaroni and Cheese. The combo also came with a small dinner roll. We also ordered a small side of fried plantains. The total bill came to just under $ 20. The meal was great! The chicken was cooked perfectly, and had some onions that it came with. It was very tender and tasty. The macaroni and cheese used a white cheese, and it was delicious. However, the corn soufflé was the best side in my opinion. It reminded me of the yellow corn cakes at Blue Mesa. Pollo Tropical also offers many sauces. We tried all of them. All were very good – my favorite was probably their Guava BBQ sauce. It was sweet and tangy. My second favorite was probably the cilantro garlic ranch, followed by the pineapple rum sauce. Others that I had were the curry mustard, the spicy poyo poyo sauce, and their salsa. Again, all were delicious. The only criticism I can provide is that I wish there were more boneless chicken dishes.(I’m not a fan of bone-in meat dishes.) In summary, Pollo Tropical seems like a more tropical /caribbean version of Pollo Campero. If you like one, you’ll probably like the other.(Pollo Campero has more fried dishes, if my memory serves me correctly.) Needless to say, with delicious food and reasonable prices, Pollo Tropical will quickly become a regular place on our«take-out» rotation.

So if Pollo Campero and Chipolte had a baby it would be Pollo Tropical. I had a TropiChop bowl – which tastes exactly like a bowl you would get at Chiplote. Friend guy had a Chipolte Chicken Sandwich which he deemed juicy but needed BBQ sauce. To their defense, he thinks broccoli needs BBQ sauce. Ingredients taste really fresh. I like the salsa bar where you get your own Cilantro Garlic Ranch and Curry Mustard. They have lots of options, yes including BBQ sauce. Other stuff on the menu include chicken plates, salads, soups, wraps – you get the idea. And for the bowls they have chicken, pork, beef and veggie. The sides sounded good, but the Carribean Corn Soufflé was just corn soufflé, same stuff you get at Thanksgiving. The place looks like a giant fast food place. Same as any other, just bigger. Folks were friendly enough. I will give it another go round, but for now it’s sort of just more of the same.

This place is horrible. I got the chicken dinner with 2 sides. The chicken was cold and the food tasted like it has been sitting under a heating lamp all day. The roll was hard as a rock. Also the customer service was awkward. When I walked in I didn’t even get greeted. The person as the counter was rude and was like I’m ready when you are. I will just stick to Cowboy Chicken if I want chicken. I wouldn’t even eat here for free.
