Great little coffee/wine/beer bar with a friendly staff. They recently started selling breakfast tacos and they are fantastic. As good as any I’ve had in the city.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice bar to watch the Mavs game and found this place on our way to another bar. We stopped in to use the bathroom thinking it was a coffee shop and were immediately impressed with the vibe this place gave. We decided to stay there for the game and the bartender was extremely nice and helpful. The Alcove has a very impressive variety of craft beers and wine. They even had beer selections that I have had trouble finding anywhere locally in the past.

The Alcove is an excellent little neighborhood spot to relax, try some wine, and follow your favourite TV shows with similar fans. They’ve viewing celebrations for The Bachelor, Lost, Survivor, and othe popular TV shows. They’ve a great collection of wines from all over. In addition they provide beer and wine to really go.

The Alcove is a neat little spot to check out for a drink and some conversation. Nestled in a residential neighborhood but not far from all the action. They have coffee, tea, beer, and wine. Pick your poison and settle into a comfortable seat.

This place does not serve food but you do have the option to bring food in with you. This is a nice place to relax and catch up with friends. On a Friday night it’s not crowded. Great wine and great staff. The bathrooms are clean and the overall restaurant is as well. The select for wine is not vast but they have something for everyone. They also serve beer. The list for this is a lot more. I love the coffee as well. You will not be disappointed when you come here.

Great neighborhood beer and wine bar. Great place to sit on the patio and have a few drinks. Much more low key than the rest of uptown bars. Nice relaxing feel to it.

One of my favorite wine bars in Dallas. They have a great selection of wine and craft beers plus the best coffee in Dallas. Can’t beat the happy hour!

Popped in at the end of a little self imposed«bar crawl.» This place is a beer and wine establishment with a very subdued atmosphere– not any loud music or club-like feel going on here. They have some bar seating with one tv available, otherwise there are couches and arm chairs. No food that I saw either– which I do love to snack when having wine. The bartender seemed helpful though and the draft selections were nice.

This place is amazing! The most delicious latte I’ve ever had as well as great ambiance. The owner was friendly and overall had a wonderful experience! Highly recommend if looking for a place to enjoy a drink– whether it’s caffeinated or alcohol.

One of the most relaxing things to do in the neighborhood is enjoy a glass of half-price wine on Happy Hour(M-F 5 – 7PM) while sitting on The Alcove’s patio. It’s pup-friendly!

Sometimes when I go over my weekly spending budget I count on my tinder app to pay my tab… sad but true especially when I’m married with a bunch of kids & pets… but my life is pointless if I’m not getting my cup of coffee here! I’ll do anything to keep up my weekly habit here. The barista is very very knowledgable! He’s like my bartender… I tell him how I feel & he knows what to make to perk me up! He’s slowly but surely teaching me «bold flavor doesn’t necessarily mean dark roast… what would I do without him & all the desperate men that pay my tab!

interesting place. came in drunk after being at state & allen most the night. décor /aesthetics are simple with drab walls where local art is hung. it’s much more subdued atmosphere. great wooden floor and stainless bar top. chairs with back support. bar back is also very simple(really just a wall) with beer taps and large HDTV in center. seating surrounding contains a mix of lounge seating and lower eating tables. great outdoor seating. very casual place that runs counter to many of the other places within the area. worth visiting if you are looking for a place to grab a few drinks, relax, and share conversation.

Wow it is busy for a Monday night. There is a college football game on and one of the bartenders told me that it’s half price on all wines for the ladies. Good thing I’m a lady! I say that with a slight innuendo. :) I grabbed a glass of cabernet saugvinon and it’s okay. I don’t like the after taste… I’m sort of picky with my wines. It’s not bad for 5 bucks though. I came here to study in hopes that it was going to be dead and that the coffee bar was going to be open but I don’t think it is. I didn’t bother to ask. It’s quite noisy but it’s bearable. I like the fact there are a mixture of people sitting with their laptops but there are people around hanging and drinking beer on tap and sipping their red wines. It’s very laid back and the venue is small in a perfect way. I personally like smaller venues, I think it’s due to my age. =P The service was pretty good. If you’re into wine bars then this is a great spot EVEN on a Monday night.

I like the coffee bar and full alcohol bar combination. Hadn’t been here in a couple years and it was definitely more lively than my last visit. They added a large tv which is great for watching a game but not conducive to working. Unfortunately, when I visited they only had whole milk for my latte. I’ll visit again soon to grab a coffee and a beer; hopefully they’ll have some milk!

Coffee is fantastic! The guys who own/work here are very friendly and proud of the coffee they brew. It’s nice interacting with them as they make your drink. Great neighborhood coffee stop in the morning and wine bar in the evening!

This spot is different from all the rest. This place is the Cheers of Uptown, literally where everybody knows your name. This is the best wine/beer bar in Dallas. Jason, Luis, and Kelsey are an awesome team that give some of the best service around. Awesome place to watch the Cowboys dominate those away games as well on their projector. They actually have a really expensive coffee machine there as well that makes one mean cup of joe or the fancy stuff if you want it. So it definitely makes it great place to stop by and use the free wifi as you get your cup of coffee in the morning. Went here today just for coffee and the coffee guy Mike knows his coffee. Absolutely best coffee I have ever had in my life!

State Street Coffee(located inside of the Alcove) is hands down, without a doubt some of the best coffee around. Mike(the owner) is a coffee connoisseur. I HIGHLY recommend stopping by and enjoying the non-franchise feel and laid back atmosphere!

All I can say is… This is a diamond in the rough. There are a gazillion places in Dallas but I like to choose local places I consider home. The people are legit here … Staff AND customers. The atmosphere is just right. If you are the kind of person looking for a drink with people who know what they are talking about, drop into this gem & experience the best in Dallas! #yourwelcome

QUIET. Thank heaven. No blasting music. No TV sports audio. GREAT date place, because you can actually talk… IF you like your date, that is. A dozen beers on tap. Good selection. Did a flight to try a few. Really NICE staff. Helpful, thoughtful. FOOD — Not many choices — only cold food and things that are simply heated. I wish there was a full kitchen and they did some gastropub food. We had a meat/cheese platter that was pretty boring, and served on a plastic plate(weird choice for an upscale joint!). Should have been served on black slate. But cheese was plain swiss, a pile of out of the bag cranberries, and out of the box water crackers was not special. Some nicer cheese, olives, tasty crackers and maybe some pâté would be a better pairing with wine and beer. With better food, I’d give this place 5 stars. DECOR — lovely, pretty, clean, interesting, fun light fixtures and ceiling in the bathroom. You can tell the owner really cares. NOTBUSY — which is a shame. Support this business! PATIO — nice view of the street and the people going by. Pleasant to sit out when it’s not too hot. Dog-friendly.

The Alcove is nice and cozy. The manager/owner(maybe?) was friendly and quick to get our drinks. The place was very clean and pristine. It’s a very nice location and a parking garage is beside it. The food was were I had a hard time. The spinach-parmesan dip was horrible. It tasted very fish and not very fresh at all. The cheese and meat platter wasn’t bad as I enjoyed the peppered salami, but the cheese assortment and the fact that you didn’t have choices was pretty blah. I realize this is a wine bar, but most places that serve alcohol of any kind offer an assortment of at least bar food. I will say the crab dip was different, but tasty. They have a great happy hour special and I can see why they compare it to cheers. Most people that go to this location live next door. It wasn’t a super crowded place and they had some outdoor seating. I’d go here again, I’d just hope that the checks were split correctly before other parts of the party left and I’d hope that they would add a little better food selection even if it is only a variety of meats, fruits and cheese to select from.

here is all you need to know, up here in the first paragraph, the stuff after this paragraph is unlikely to be relevant to you. Coffee, Beer, Wine, Great Staff, Great Patrons. all found in abundance at the alcove, oh, wifi too. the wife wanted a latte, but we got so much more, we were greeted by Jeremy, holding his shoe. His only excuse, «ok, you caught me with my shoe in my hand». He also explained that he once worked for the pentagon and«IMUSMDLWAFFUHHUSSUHL» We later decoded this cryptic message to find we were in the company of an ex waffle house model. Folks, it doesn’t get any better than that! and if pretty breakfast model boys are not your thing, we also friended two of the most pleasant and beautiful young women who can also issue sock fashion advice and purchasing assistance. thank you alcove and your cast of characters. my wife has suggested we buy a condo there near that corner. with state and allen next to the alcove… I think we can sell the cars. don’t need to travel further,

Love this place. They serve wine, beer and espresso. Their beer selection seems to be pretty vast and their wine list unique. Coffee is served until 2pm each day and a local baker supplies pastries. This was a stop on a Food Tour that I ventured on recently and I was happy to experience it. The space is so cozy — sofa nooks, coffee tables, pillows… all set up to really solicit conversation or productivity. They also have a small patio area outside on the walk that screamed«I was made for a pleasant spring afternoon.» I would definitely bring a friend here to catch up on the latest, or post up to do homework/read for awhile. Though they don’t serve food, it is okay for you to bring your own, or order and have it delivered. Venture in and chill.

Cute place. I can feel myself getting older because I secretly wouldn’t mind living in this neighborhood. It’s intensely cookie cutter and white, both of which are pretty big turn offs, but I’m sucked in by all the trees. My point is that I want to live in a neighborhood where I can walk to a bar like this. It’s a really nice get-away for a book and wine or coffee. They also serve a more-than-respectable mimosa, which was what I had Sunday afternoon, and it was very nice.(And my server was lovely, too.) There’s a giant TV which was silently playing the news until someone asked for the Rangers game. I love me some Rangers, especially when Yu’s pitching, but when the shift change kicked in an hour later or so, someone else came in and turned the sound on and way up. EH. Sports announcers are annoying as hell and it just made me want to leave(so I did). They seem to have breakfast pastries, which were mostly gone by the time I got there, but they do offer pretzels/peanut chips for bar nibbles if you ask. But it’s mostly just a small espresso/wine bar(which is just fine by me)! But very cute place; the current art was very cool and overall the atmosphere was great. I just wish I could walk here!
