I was going to spend the weekend in NYC with a very pretty girlfriend. I made sure I had all my clothes on point. I had the Air BnB room booked. Everything was all set. Then I realized I hadn’t seen my girlfriend in a few weeks. I looked in the mirror and to my horror, my hair was a nightmare.
What to do? Well, I was already at work. I had to be at the airport soon. I scrambled for any salon that was close. I called Tru, and they fit me in with Madeleine.
My hair was in awful shape. I can’t pull off the scruffy sophisticate look that some guys can, so I needed drastic action. Madeleine did a great job on my hair, and the whole staff was helpful and pleasant. Parking was easy, and I was in and out pretty quickly. However, I never felt like I was rushed or that they took men’s hair less seriously than women’s.
The building is great, the service is perfect. They even gave me a coke when I said I didn’t care for coffee. This isn’t the cheapest place around but the stylists’ skills are worth every penny. Most importantly, my girlfriend complimented my hair the minute she saw me. Thanks Madeleine!

Tru Salon is located in a beautiful Victorian building with nice décor inside. Highly experienced stylist are employed there, and friendly receptionists. The studio is always clean and tidy.
Marion has been my colorist for almost ten years now and Kristen cuts my hair. This has been my favorite location in Dallas for a salon.

I had my hair cut by Kimmi, and was very pleased. She completely understood what I was asking for. The place is very pretty, and there is plenty of parking (2-​hr limit, though) on the street. The girl at the front was nice, offered me water or coffee, and showed me to Kimmi’s chair, after getting me into a frock. Then, Kimmi came in and asked about what I wanted. The consultation took a couple of minutes, then she took me to the shampoo room. She did recommend certain products… I get it, but I don’t really like it when stylists push products. The cut she did was great, and I liked the way she styled it too. Will definitely be back for upkeep. Kimmi’s really nice, fun, and professional.

Great atmosphere and experience! I was recommended here by a coworker. I walked out very happy with my hair, happier than I have been in a while! Pricing is in the range of what I am used to paying.

I just moved from Los Angeles, where I had been going to the same colorist for 12 years. Kristen at TRU came recommended by a friend and I could not be happier with the cut and color. It’s not easy to get an appointment, but that’s because she’s so great at her job! So happy to have found someone that I connected with and who is excellent at cut and color.

I’ll just start by confessing that my hair is too long, too thick, too frizzy. It can be a force to be reckoned with.
And over the years, I trust it to one person: Martin Pena. He’s the only one who has ever been able to calm the beast. He’s brilliant! He is my sole stylist, and I trust him completely. With any other stylist I’ve had to visit, such as when I’m out of town, it’s always a gamble. But with Martin, he manages to get it sleek, silky, sharp edged, modern, healthy, and fun every time. I’ve always said he’s an absolute artiste.
So of course I followed him to Tru Salon, and I really like this salon! i found easy parking on a Tuesday morning. On Fairmont just west of McKinney, it’s easy to get to. Like other businesses along this street, it resides in a thoroughly updated, architecturally historic house. There is a double entry stoop, so go in the door on the right.
Friendly and personable, I liked everyone here. The vibe here is really pleasant for everyone, whether you come in alone, or come in with your mom.
Whitney gave me some great suggestions and a fabulous shampoo. She rocks!
And Martin performed his incredible hair magic. He’s an amazing professional talent.

Very chill, laid back, but definitely upscale salon in heart of Uptown. Most the stylists speak French which makes it oh so chic! And Tiffany is the best… love how she cuts and colors and not just one dimensional.

This is my second time at this salon and I absolutely love it. Great location and never crowded. Linsey, gives me the best haircut and blow out that I’ve ever had in Dallas. I have long, thick hair and am extremely particular about it! And yes, the blow out is included. They also offer Kerastase treatments.

I’ve always hated getting my haircut, because it’s too much of a pain to keep up with good stylists who wont just give you the same cut over and over. It’s also a pain to have to think of a hair style to request only to find out it looks stupid on my face shape. I found Fionna at Aveda Institute, right before she graduated. She came highly recommended as one of their top top top students. I was so impressed with her that I followed her to TruSalon and will follow her to 2222 when she goes, a sister salon owned by the same company.
I’ve never had to think of a hairstyle. With her, I can just go in and say, «OK give me whatever, just make it cute, modern, and don’t make my face look fat», and every single time she gives me one of the best cuts I’ve ever had in my life. I’m 38, and that’s a lot of haircuts to which these cuts are being compared. She’s extremely creative, and I always know I can count on looking ultra modern and cute when she’s done with me. She talks a lot about new classes she’s taking, and is constantly continuing her hair education. One of the fun parts of going to see her is the chit chat. She has such charisma, and a fun personality thereby making the whole thing feel like an over glorified slumber party. She couldn’t have chosen a better career, because this is perfectly suited to her. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new lifelong stylist. I’ll be following her wherever she goes. I already drive about an hour to get to her location, so for me location isn’t an issue. It’s completely worth it.
As for Tru Salon, it’s a really neat, huge, old but snazzy victorian house. They have a station where you can get filtered water or make yourself a cappuccino. If you’re looking for Fionna she will only be there a few more weeks, and around mid-​September of 2012 she’ll move to the sister salon «Salon 2222» a few blocks away, on 2222 on McKinney Ave.

Yes… The cut and style are a bit on the pricey side but remember you get what you pay for. Lindsey Blair is my stylist and she is fantastic. This place does a good job. I’ve been going to her for over two years now. I highly recomend this Salon.

This gorgeous new salon is in an historical building that used to house one of the best art galleries in Texas and now houses the best new salon in Texas! Owned and operated by Tanya Carpenter, long time Dallas stylist and maker of my favorite dstat anti-​frizz products (
). Tru is as relaxing as it is beautiful. Tanya has handpicked some of the best stylists in Dallas and even has an entire upstairs dedicated to making a bride beautiful on her special day. Tru is truly as good as it gets!
