One of the best food experiences I had on my near 4,000 mile bike ride. I’m so glad I stopped here. I ordered ‘the mother of all cheese steaks’ or I think that’s what it’s called. It was amazing. An explosion of flavor, something I don’t think I’ll ever run into again. If I could I would go back… Better hop on my bike…

Staying in the area for the summer we had watched this café go though a transformation of sorts. It is now HALF pizza/burger joint and HALF seafood restaurant. We sat on the seafood side and my husband ordered the fried filet of the fish. Big mistake. It was fried so long that when he put his fork in to cut it half of it flew across the table. I’m not a big seafood eater so I wanted a burger. The waitress told me I had to go to the other side of the restaurant if I wanted that. I could access the other side easily as the wall splitting the two is open at the back of the restaurant area. No, she wouldn’t go order it for me. So I went over, ordered it, had to go back to get my wallet, paid for it and waited. And waited. And waited some more. We both had French fries which were generally tasteless despite the salt and PEPPER that came on them. Don’t waste your time. You have to wait too long for your food, the staff doesn’t seem to care and food is nothing to write home about.

Just left this place with high hopes. They were in the middle of a make over. So the inside was ok. Menu looked really good and good prices. So we order our food. Had to wait for our number to be called. So after a hour and half later. I went to go check on our food. Well the order never got sent to the kitchen. Ok I understand things happen but We weren’t the only ones. Two people told me that they had waited even longer to get there food. If I could give 0STARS I would. They did give us our money back. Even the owner didn’t seem to care. Think I will avoid this place next time. Maybe when they are done with the remodel we will go back… Well maybe not.

Good cheesesteaks. I’m from eastern Pennsylvania and these are in the ballpark of a good cheesesteak. The fries were kind of tiny, but also tasty. The service was extra slow, so be patient if you go.

Burger Burger Burger! Fun place! Especially during Trail Days! Friendly staff in a friendly town. Good selection of beer on tap! If it’s busy like it was during Trail Days. be sure to get in there before you’re hungry because you’re going to be waiting quite a while to get your food. But the atmosphere and the food and the experience is totally worth it! Hopefully you’ll be in good company and forget about the wait.

There’s something about hiking that really makes you crave a good burger. They have 3 or 4 burgers for any appetite and they have a pretty good selection of toppings that are of no extra charge. The atmosphere is pretty great and the paper they give you markers to idly draw on the paper thats on the table when you are waiting for you food. The only downside is that the service was pretty slow and if they run out of paper to put on the table then the tables are often quite sticky. Otherwise, a great place to eat.

Went here about 2 weeks ago while doing some biking. We were looking for somewhere a little nicer, but it was pretty much the only place open(due to a wedding and it being labor day). We were pleasantly surprised by the philly cheesesteaks… so much so that we ate them for dinner two nights in a row! The selection of local beer was decent. The fries were good, but not house-made. All-in-all, a really inexpensive and good meal after riding a bike. The atmosphere wasn’t great(we sat on the bar side, and the restaurant side was even worse) but the service was good!

My friends and I stopped here for lunch on Sunday. NEVER in my life have I ever seen a server so rude. I can’t even explain how rude this lady was. I can’t comment on the food because we left after she THREW the menu’s at us. Other customers that were in there and saw what was going on with us warned us, «It only gets worse from here.» Good luck. That is all I can say.

We love to visit the NC/VA mountains and we were out riding and came across this town this past weekend. Stopped at some antique and thrift stores, then decided we were hungry. Across the street from the stores was this café. Nothing to look at, but I’ve found that most of the time this kind of establishment is where you’ll find the best food. I was right again. Inside the place you’ll find booths mainly with a few tables down the middle. Nothing fancy, with brown wrapping paper creations adorning most of the walls(drawn by visitors to the café.) We both love cheesesteaks and we ordered the medium(6″). I had friend onions added to mine and the wife had peppers and onions on hers. I agree with the other reviewer who said it was the best one south of philly. I think it could even go head-to-head with any philly shop. And so darn full of meat that a 6″ is all you’re going to eat, especially with a side of onion rings.(me and the wife split an order and still couldn’t finish them, and their only a buck with the meal.) For under $ 20 we waddled our little fat butts right out of the restaurant, full, contented and didn’t need to eat anything else til supper time that night, even after a full afternoon of shopping. I highly recommend this place! I’ll go back ANYTIME that we’re in the area, which is usually several times a year.

Stopped in there during trail days, food was very disappointing. Ten dollars for frozen patties for a burger. Beer was five dollars. I aske if I could plug in my phone and was told no. I asked why and she said if I let you do it I have to let everyone do it. Just thought they were a big rip off so I went to the place by the post office where the food was great and the beer much cheaper. And they were happy to let us plug our phones in. So no more blue blaze for me.

Pros: cheap eats, a few local brews on tap, jukebox!!, live music some nights, pool tables Cons: out of a lot of food when I went, spinach artichoke dip is BAD, no live music when it was advertised My family was staying near Damascus for a hiking/biking weekend and we decided to find a local place to enjoy a few drinks. We drove around until we found this place, and eagerly went inside because their sign advertised live music Fridays and Saturdays. We were pretty pumped until we got inside and saw no live music on a Saturday. When we asked the bartender about it he told us it was too expensive to bring music in without charging a cover. Boo. Oh well, at least there was a cheap jukebox we kept running all night! I’m a fan of local brews, so I was pretty excited when the bartender brought me a local honey wheat ale. Loved it, but for the life of me cannot remember the name of the brewery it came from. This bar is in a semi-dry county(???) that doesn’t serve liquor but has beer and wine. Being from Indiana, I am used to some weird laws surrounding alcohol but that one takes the cake. Don’t come here expecting liquor. We were ready to get our munch on, so we ordered a lot of food here. They were out of the mac and cheese which was disappointing, but we were able to order wings, fries, fried pickles and spinach artichoke dip. The food, save for the spin dip, was your standard greasy bar food which really hits the spot when you’re guzzling down honey wheat ale! The spin dip was not good at all. It almost tasted like someone put spinach and warm water in a blender and then served it with naan. We told out waitress Rebbecca it was not appetizing, and since we hadn’t really eaten much of it I guess we were expecting it to be taken off the bill but she said«sorry» and walked away. Maybe we shouldn’t haven been expecting it to be taken off the bill, but in my experience if you let the waitress know what it was about the dish you did not like and haven’t eaten much of it the item is generally comped? All in all, this place was a blast! The jukebox and pool table kept us entertained so we didn’t really miss the live music. They lose two stars for being out of food, the bad spin dip and advertising live music when they didn’t have it.

«Great live music, the best cheesesteaks south of South Philly, and ice cold beers, it doesn’t get any better than that! We stop in any time we’re within an hour of Damascus!»

Despite the snow and power outages… Day One at Blue Blaze Café featured a fabulous crew, excellent pizza and the promise of big things to come. The stand-out(so far) is their Philly Cheese steak sandwich… arguably the best in the region if not the country. Check it out when your in Damascus.
