I usually get these on Wednesdays during the Farmers Market on Caesar Chavez Park Downtown Sacramento. I will say you will be missed, until Spring my sweet cookies, until spring. Maybe a trip to Davis this summer. They are so good. (Mouth watering as I type) I think Dora would be proud to say«Delicioso!!!»

I’ve been noticing Upper Crust Baking Company more and more at various farmer’s markets in the Sacramento area. Although I’m not exactly a specialty bread kind of person, their cookies have been catching my eye. Finally, today at the Wednesday farmer’s market at Cesar Chavez Park, I decided to try their cookies. They were surprisingly REALLYGOOD!!! Before buying the cookies, just on appearance alone, I wasn’t expecting them to be that good. They looked average and I thought possibly I would be disappointed, but I wanted to try them anyway. First bite, I thought, wow! These are good! They were still warm too! I ordered the oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip with white flour, and chocolate chip with wheat flour. I was trying to see if I had a favorite out of the three, but they all tasted excellent! My friends also really liked them. The girl who worked at the Upper Crust stand at the Cesar Chavez farmer’s market today provided great customer service. She was friendly, polite, and helpful. Also, she offered me a nice sample, which was pretty cool. The cost is $ 1.50 per cookie. You can get a 6-pack of cookies for $ 7.50. All of their cookies have oatmeal in them and they taste great! I did notice that the size of the cookies were not the same. The oatmeal raisin cookie I received was noticeably smaller than the chocolate chips. Upper Crust does not have a storefront, but you can find them at many farmer’s markets in the Sacramento area.

I can only speak to the Challah bread which I bought at Folsom’s Sat AM farmer’s market. The guy selling them did a good job of friendly advertising, but both my spouse and I agree, the Challah was tasteless/bland. We have had excellent Challah at Great Harvest Bread company in Folsom.

I’m quite surprised at the negative reviews. I’m not sure if I just lucked out or only people who’ve had a negative experience are reviewing. I came on Unilocal to find out if this place has a store front because I’m eating the best bread right now! Sadly no, but I’ll be looking for them at the farmer’s market from now on. I got it at the small farmer’s market in Downtown Sac Fremont Park. I’m not sure of the exact name but I bought a wheat, walnut, raisin loaf. It’s a dark brown color with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. I bought it from the day old pile for almost half the price. It’s 100 degree weather and perfectly soft and fresh. I’m writing this review the day after I bought it and it’s still very fresh. I’ll make sure to finish it tomorrow because fresh baked goods like this are meant to be consumed within a few days. The girl working the table was personable and said she liked to eat the bread that I bought with cream cheese and she chatted up another customer. I love when I find local places to support!

I don’t usually give a bad review on Unilocal. If I have something negative to say I say it directly to the manager/owner so that they might improve. I really want businesses and makers of good /potentially good products to be successful. However I’m going to say that I was very disappointed in the quality of this bread. The whole grain bread I purchased had a very overly processed odor, taste, appearance and texture. I plan to investigate to see if they really use whole grain ingredients as listed. And I plan to give this review to the vendors personally next time I see them at the Farmer’s market.

Excellent! The apple tarts are so delicious! They come to the Benicia Farmers Market every Thursday and I always look forward to seeing what they have to offer.

This review is for the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and the peasant bread(I think is what it was called). I had a few of the oatmeal choco chip cookies and they were incredible. I’m not a big fan of oatmeal cookies, but these bad boys were chewy, sweet and the chocolate chips set them off as you crunched into them. I ate a few more than I was supposed to and likely deprived others of the joy. Sorry folks. The peasant bread, a large circular loaf that is segmented into tearable rolls, is super soft, and was perfect warmed up a little and served with melted butter. I’ve never seen this style of bread anywhere else and it is both delicious and almost worthy of a conversation. I’d grab another sack of those cookies any day.

I am baffled by these negative reviews. The Upper Crust rocks, as evidenced by the line you’ll always find in front of their booth at the downtown Sac farmers markets. For more years than I’d like to admit, I have bought cookies from them week in and week out throughout farmers market season. Yum! They are of course best when they’ve just been delivered, still melty from the oven, but they’re even good the next day(if you can restrain yourself from eating them all at once!) Their apple tart things are delicious too! So happy they started making them in a mini size. Can’t wait for more!

2.2 stars, a steep fall from the one-time 5 star Gill and family… are you guys sliding downhill? Long ago, in ye olde Sac-town, I used to actually babysit the best friend of this bakery owner’s daughter. Subsequently, I would go on ‘field trips’ to Davis, bringing my little one to go boing a trampoline or whatnot. I learned about this family’s business through a friend. Previously, they used to make these wonderful, fresh hybrid oatmeal-based cookies and oh. the challah loaves and other seeded breads. Perhaps they piqued in the 90’s or so? Selling exclusively to the farmers market community(the largest, ostensibly, being to Davis itself), such as Sacramento and Point Richmond by myself. Their stuff has lost its edge, though. Of late, I am not attracted to the look of their offerings, and it does make me sad. Who wants to purchase cookies that are so dry, they’re broken off the edges, or the plastic bag in which they’re wrapped is becoming opaque and all crinkled from who knows what? Please revive yourselves somehow and resuscitate the quality that I once knew, because I really want to 5 star you… so bad.
