Cassano’s Pizza King

So I walked in and I’m helped by Mabel. This lady has been working at this location for 56 years! Wow! Unbelievable! However, if you plan on working that long, you should still try to be friendly. If you customer service starts slacking, maybe it’s time to hang up the apron. Ok, on to the food.
We ordered cheese bread app and pizza. Although I don’t know why they call them appetizers if they’re brought out with the pizza. Thanks, Mabel!
The cheese bread is a 9″ crust with cheese and oregano… underwhelming and very tough for my 3 and 1.5 year olds to bite through.
The pizza was pretty good. The sauce has a good flavor although I should have asked for extra, and the sausage crumbles are the best. Any pizza place that uses crumbles gets bumped up a notch in my book.
The pizza was VERY greasy though. I used up quite a few napkins soaking up grease.
Oh yeah… and when that charmer, Mabel brought out the pizzas she didn’t bring plates. I waited at the counter for a few minutes before quietly calling, «umm…Hello!» And she popped her head up and grumbled, «they’re on the counter». To which I responded, «ummm​.no they’re not.» This made her a lil grouchy, having to pull away from the mornings crossword and get more plates.
Overall, the food was decent. But I think the «Pizza King» of Dayton is still La Rosa’s.

Slow, salty, and tiny 2 by 2 inch squares. Just a waste of time and an utter disappointment.

I’m only giving one star because ZERO is not an option. I ordered a pizza at 5:55. It had an expected delivery time of 6:31. At 6:40 I called and was told that the pizza had just left the store. At 7:00 when I called back I was told the pizza should be here any minute. At 7:15 as I was calling back AGAIN my now hour-​old pizza arrived. I sent it back.

Who says you can’t go home !
I was about 9 years old the first time I rode my bike here alone. Believe it or not, the pizza has not changed. Still the same wonderful taste it had far too many years ago to mention.
The location has had a face lift (wish I could say the same). Great friendly service and sitting here eating was pleasant as well. Fountain drinks add to the great pizza taste. They have added an «all edges» pizza to the menu. It’s pretty cool that a donut pizza provides those who like the crispy edge pieces the opportunity with every bite.
Cassano’s has always taken a back seat to Dayton’s «other» mainstay pizza, but this pizza can hold it’s own. The crust is not soggy, and has a taste I have not found any where else. The cutting of the pizza in Dayton has always been the «square bites» in lieu of pie shaped.
There is a secret in the sausage and I don’t think anyone else has found it. I really can’t say enough about this local chain of pizza places. They are only in Dayton and surrounding locations, and I have dined in 4 different locations in the last year. All of them get 5 stars. That says a lot about the experience across the board.
This pizza has been around for years and my guess will be around for many more.
Keep doing what you are doing, because you have found the secret, and offering it at an affordable price.

I love this pizza and steak sub unlike any other sub or Pepperoni pizza. It’s fresh and tasty

I really don’t want to complain, but the little, old lady who took care of my order seemed to be slow enough that I almost left the store thinking that no one was there. I get the feeling I could have been like her one day, had I stayed with the company years ago.
She did a fine job, but I really wasn’t certain that anyone was there. I ordered my favourite: a 9 inch deluxe with a fountain Mountain Dew, which is just under $ 10.00. I really don’t care for single ingredient pizza and after trying Speedway’s pizza the other day, I had to get that taste out of my mouth.
As promised, the pizza was out in about 10 minutes and it was great. I felt really evil for being impatient, but as I went to get a napkin, she was delivering the pizza to me and I received it at the door to the kitchen and saved her a few steps.
You can’t pay someone to be that dear, so I guess if you’re really in a hurry, place your order with the call center before you arrive.
