Very exceptional and good hospitality/charm… Excellent staff, atmosphere, the menu is also very good, the food is very very good! Ultimately a great place, definitely a go again, and again, and weeks later go again :) this is a top breakfast/brunch destination. Thanks Hedy, and also the excellent staff at the Whistle Stop!

This is the best breakfast place I have ever been to. Never once disappointed in any aspect of this place. The regular menu is delicious with several repeat winners. Connie’s Cannes is my favorite omelette– also fantastic when done as a benedict. The specials are always creative and inspired by the owner/chef’s travels. They also now incorporated low carb options for us health conscious folks without any crazy charges.(Most places feel the need to punish you for eating healthy, not the Whistle Stop.) The inside can get a little tight as it is small and you may end up waiting for a table but this is time well spent. When it is packed it is somehow never claustrophobic, the staff is wonderful and the majority of people who I’ve seen there are pleasant, probably because of the food. In the warmer months there is outside seating, highly recommend this when possible as Deep River is a beautiful town and a little more room to stretch is great. Definitely stop down, bringing a bottle of Champagne is acceptable for mimosas as well. Have some great food and pleasant service, well worth the potential wait!

This place was recommended to me by a friend and it was one of the best recommendations I have ever received. I was greeted by multiple people as soon as I entered, and felt at ease in a new environment. Everyone there was very friendly. There was a large list of specials in addition to a pretty comprehensive menu. I went with the waitresses suggestion(after she asked me some leading questions) and ordered a crab cake eggs Benedict. Everything on the plate was fresh and tasty. The combination of great food and friendly atmosphere makes this a must-go in my book.

The food here is good. Not great, but good. If you are looking for that good old Sunday morning hangover food, this isn’t your place. It’s healthy tasty food. I give it 5 stars because it was yummy. The service was great and friendly. I wanted that greasy, gross hangover food. This wasn’t it. You know, the kind of food smothered in butter and deliciousness. This place is a great spot for healthy eaters. The employees are super friendly. It’s small inside, but cute. I was just in the mood for grease and I didn’t get my hair of the dog.

Everything in town was closed during the heavy snowfall earlier this year but whistle stop was open. It was warm inside and the owner was extremely friendly. We warmed up with delicious hot chocolate. They had an extensive tea list that I’ll try next time we come in. I ordered an omelet, it was a little overfilled and I couldn’t finish half of it. Potatoes were okay. We really liked the charm of this spot and when the owners get back from Thailand we’ll be back.

Super delicious breakfast. Best eggs Benedict around(and they offer several with specials daily). Love eating here in the warmer months when you can eat outside. The inside is tight but cozy. Staff is always friendly(though a little loud in that small space). Dogs allowed outside as long as they’re friendly! Parking is on the street or at the factory behind, NOT behind Calamari’s lest you invite the wrath of the lot owner :-p

I try to get to The Whistle Stop every time I’m in Deep River. It’s a small, rather eclectic place with great food(I’m a fan of the Rueben(turkey or corned beef) and the home fries). The teas are super as well. I typically get an iced tea with lunch, and a hot tea to go. The folks that work there are super nice, and a big reason that I like to keep coming back!

THE place for breakfast in the lower Connecticut River Valley. Fabulous Eggs Benedict of many different varieties. Great home fries, bacon, etc. as well. Don’t forget the grilled honey bun with lots of butter as an appetizer! You can also get it as French toast but I have not tried that yet. The joint is tiny so you have to shoehorn in and the floor is so pitched that the coffee almost slides off the table(exaggeration). But that all adds to the charm of this little gem nestled up in Deep River.

This restaurant was wonderful, the food was very fresh and delicious, and our waitress went above and beyond to take care of us. She was friendly and very professional. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner and all I can say is that she is a very classy and charming woman. I almost forgot to mention that this place is very clean, it was actually spotless, we will certainly return.

What a great little place! Totally worth the stop, and the service was really quick. We were a party of 6 for brunch, everyone was really happy with the food and drinks. They have breakfast and lunch stuff, my dad got the burger and said it was delicious. The iced tea and iced coffee selection was great, and the lumberjack omelet was so friggin good. All the ingredients were organic, and the owners/cooks were hospitable! Go eat at this place!

Best breakfast around, Hettie and the girls could fill a place 3X this size but it just wouldn’t be the same! Love this spot for breakfast and the new healthy home brewed hot drinks are fabulous.

My favorite spot in the shoreline!!! Hedy made feel at home, her cooking is awesome and out of the box… her crepes are amazing and she does them better than France! My kids jump up and down every time I say lets go to the whistle stop, they look forward to Hedy’s cooking Love The Whistle Stop!

So delicious and down to earth. What a great find! We have been hearing about the place for a while and finally made it over for breakfast. The food was excellent, staff warm and friendly and the atmosphere sweet. Tiny and homey. I will come back and check out their lunch scene. Breakfast was a big hit!

3.5 stars Really, really, nice people run/work at this place. That is clear(and appreciated). The food is home-cooking style. So, it was kind of like stopping by the house of a relative I’ve never met, who is pretty handy in the kitchen. I had a pot roast sandwich, bowl of tomato-basil soup, and a regular iced tea. The pot roast itself was really good — moist and flavorful. The onions were caramelized nicely, but the sandwich needed a bit more cheese to balance things out. The bun was nicely grilled. It came with a pickle, which was good, but something crunchy like chips or some crunchy slaw would really have gone nice with the soft sandwich. The soup was more like a stew: very chunky with little liquid. The flavors were good, though. In the hands of some, this particular type of soup can taste like either an acidic bowl of tomato juice or a bowl of the sauce that Spaghetti-O’s come in. Here, it was a very nice balance of tomato and basil. I’d have loved some more broth, but what I got was flavorful. I wasn’t personally a big fan of the iced tea. First, again in the favor of the excellent service, I was brought a small cup with two sizable lemon wedges for my tea in case I wanted them(I did). The tea itself tasted like it was made from a powder. [*Please See Update Below*]. I lived in the South a long time and got really picky about iced tea, however, so y’all might really enjoy the iced tea! Conclusion: I’ll be back for an omelet. UPDATE: The iced tea is indeed a brewed, organic black tea, so it just was a particular flavor that prompted my comment, not the method. I’m so glad they choose to brew!
