MOD Pizza is an amazing place for pizza lovers. There are so many toppings to choose from and pizza sizes that fit the needs of what you are hungry for. Overall the food is pretty good there. It’s not the most perfect pizza you will ever eat however it leaves a good feeling in your mouth. Their service is also amazing. The people behind the counter make your pizza to exactly how you want it. They keep a good attitude always and a smile on their face when they see customers, which is exactly how employees should treat people.

My favorite pizza around Highland Park. The best part you can pick any topping you want in your pizza, so it can always have something different every time you stole here.

I’ve been here a few times and it has been great but this most recent time was the best. The service was phenomenal and the pizza was just as good as usual. They gave us a Mother’s Day deal even though it wasn’t the day of. I love how you can pick whatever toppings you want. Highly recommended to all.

My 5 yr old: «WOW– this is almost as good as my favorite restaurant… California Pizza Kitchen» My husband: «This is basically the Chipotle of pizza & I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.» While I“m not really a a fan of Chipotle or CPK(unlike my daughter), I appreciate what MOD Pizza is going for. My crazy party of 5 arrived for an early Sunday night dinner &4 freshly made pizzas(the 3 month old hasn’t discovered pizza quite yet) were in front of us within 10 minutes. We were able to choose from a variety of toppings(Chipotle style), but they also had some suggestions… one of which my husband took them up on. They have mini sized pizzas for the kids and a bit larger ones for us grown-ups. In retrospect I could have split one with my husband, but then again I wasn’t really a fan of his toppings. I’m not a deep dish type of gal so I was excited for the super thin crust, but in this case it was a bit too thin for my liking. My pizza was loaded with pepperoni and some veggies… good, but I think I could do even better next time. The people who work here were lovely. When I requested no cheese on my pizza the woman making my pizza made sure it wasn’t due to a severe allergy since apparently there’s dairy in the red sauce. No severe allergy, but I appreciated the heads up. My husband was slightly annoyed when they carded him for his beer, but if it had been me I would have given them an extra star for carding me soon after having my 3rd child. I probably wouldn’t come here alone with my husband or with girlfriends, but a easy and tasty place to go back w/the kids. It sure beats CPK(IMO).

I hate to be the party pooper here amongst all the positive reviews, but I’m sorry — this pizza straight up sucked. So bland. And my bad experience last week only added to it… I dined here with my family at your Deerfield location last week for dinner. Two of our pizzas came out very soggy and undercooked. The bottom of the crust was wet, floppy and mushy, so much in fact that it needed to be eaten with a fork and knife because it was so drippy. I complained to an employee(or manager?) who said we will remake it for you fresh. The remade pizza came out completely 100% black on the bottom! I couldn’t believe they would serve this to us. It’s just a bit shocking considering you guys are known for one thing and that is quick and tasty pizzas. We called a manager over who said«sorry, we’re not perfect and we are all human and make mistakes.» When I asked him if he felt this clearly over cooked + burnt pizza was normal to serve as is, he said«well it’s usually a little bit black, but that does seem more than usual.» He also told us you shouldn’t order too many toppings on your pizza. We thought this was a foolish comment, as a small handful of sliced green peppers and mushrooms does not ruin the pizza. We just felt that this employee should have acted much more professional and shown a «take charge attitude» about our awful experience — even after remaking it for us, they still couldn’t get it right. Something was definitely off with the pizzas on this night. We were given a few coupons for a free pizza. Pizzas should be cooked for a certain amount of minutes and I would think that the staff would have this down to perfection. To be served a soggy undercooked pizza and then have it remade extremely burnt left us all with a not so pleasant(and burnt) taste in our mouths. Not coming back!

When I want a thin crust to go, I come here. Tristan with a few extra ingredients and pesto drizzle at the end. It’s great. I always go on off hours when they aren’t busy, but I can see other customers’ complaints about waiting/chaos as legitimate with their layout. That’s unfortunate, but it is what it is. I like their thin crust better than Pie Five. If I’m in the mood for a more substantial meal/crust, Woodgrain in Glenview is my go-to place. I wish they had some sort of awards program like the other guys though. Unless I’ve totally missed it, in which case they need to make it more apparent. Keep it up MOD!

Mediocre at best. Great concept ruined by somewhat dirty store and staff that seam to care little about what they do. Once pizza comes out of the oven it can be chaotic as the method of assigning the pizza to its rightful owner could be improved. The tables were seldom cleaned and the place was also a little cold inside. Pizza options are great! Anything you want you can have. But there are no appetizers so waiting with kids that are hungry can be a challenge

So this was actually my first experience at any of the walkup create your own pizza establishments and I didn’t know what to expect. Now that I have experience all I can say is think subway/chipotle of pizza. You walk in, you order and tell them what toppings you want etc. it’s all same price which I didn’t know until after I ordered. I would recommend you stay and watch them create it as they skimp on the topping and should have done this myself as I got jipped. I got mine to go and was like well. I have time I’ll grab a beer and wait. I can drink a beer pretty fast I must say and BAM halfway through my beer guzzle my order or 2 pizzas was done. Wow these things cook FAST! Now onto the ZA themselves. They were fine. Just fine to be exact. The crust is flavorless and nonexistent and the toppings were well FINE. so what you get is a cheap and fast made to order pizza just like any other similar sandwich or taco experience you can get these days. 3 stars from me.

Here’s what you need to know: very tasty, very fresh, very well priced, great service, and totally custom made to cater to your palette… What’s there not to love. This is the first and only MOD pizza location we’ve visited, and we were extremely pleased. We order 3 different pizzas — 2 that we made up and 1 we picked off the recommended selections and we’re delighted with each one. We tried 2 different sauce bases(pesto and tomato), and they were both very well prepared. They also have finishing sauces that they drizzle on top, adding a ton of extra flavor. yum! My favorite pizza combo is pesto sauce as the base(no tomato sauce at all), topped with mozzarella, arugula, mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, and roasted garlic cloves. Finally a light sprinkle of Gorgonzola and rosemary seasoning before baking, and some balsamic fig glaze finishing sauce after its baked. I call the combo Earth, since it’s vegetarian and had very earthy flavors :) If you like it spicy, replace the fig sauce with Sri-rancha. Just be careful — even though they don’t charge you anything extra for as many toppings as you want, it’s important to have the right amount on your pizza because you can go overboard — making your pie hard to eat, or just funny tasting. The veggie topping may actually be tastier than the meats, which is counter intuitive to most, but true in this case. We spend only $ 20 for our entire check and it was generously sized food with all you put on top of your pie. This will become a regular go to spot for us.

One of the things I got my dog for Christmas was a Union Jack sweater. He’s a Yorkie which IS British. The label says«MOD» on it. Which I guess means cool and modern. MOD Pizza is pretty cool. And modern. It’s a fast casual pizza joint serving up thin crust pies with whatever topics you want fast. Cuz that’s what being cool and modern is: having things personalized & easy. And crispy. So about the pies they are CRISPyy. And there’s no cornmeal element or wholesomeness of the taste. I do like the thinness and crunch but there’s not a flavor. The sauces are ok. I usually get the pesto and/or red. The pesto isn’t quite as strong as other ones I have had. The red sauce is ok. The white sauce I didn’t care for. I think I tried the BBQ and it was sweet. You get UNLIMITED toppings! This is where it gets cool. I like personalizing and experimenting with the combos and amounts. The pizza they offer in 3 sizes btw and they have dessert pizza and salads. They have a fountain but also cooler beverages and beers. I got the Marion Blackberry lemonade before & it was refreshing. The service has generally been affable and tries to hustle. The patio is nice and dog friendly. The price fair. So if you are feeling MOD get over here for some pie. You don’t even need a special sweater.

This recently opened close to my work. I had been to Pie5 a few times, so I was more or less familiar with the model(customized personal pizzas in 5ish minutes). They went the route of Chipotle with the most minimal finishing/decoration you can imagine. Cement floor, exposed ceiling, plain walls with the exception of a photo mosaic near the cashier, and minimalist tables/chairs. The menu and ingredients available are pretty extensive(never heard of brussels sprouts on pizza). For ~$ 11 you can get a «mini» custom pizza(or try one of their«top 10») with a «side» salad with your choice of greens and toppings. On my 1st trip I made the mistake of ordering a regular pizza and side salad. It was too much food. I had the«Jasper» + Pepperoni and Sriracha Ranch. I also had a romaine and spinach salad with garlic, olives, parmesan, croutons, and italian dressing. I was able to get in, order, eat and be back to my office in 30 minutes. I needed a quick lunch again the next day, so I went back after my great experience on Monday. I tried the«Caspian» which is a BBQ chicken pizza. It wasn’t as good as the Jasper. Their BBQ sauce wasn’t my favorite, but they definitely didn’t skimp on the sauce. I went with the mini pizza on the 2nd trip, and it was still plenty of food in conjunction with the side salad. I went with the spinach, romaine, chicken, bacon, parmesan, croutons, and italian dressing. The pizza is IMO very good for a fast food type restaurant. The crust is more similar to a traditional italian pizza with some charring on the edges which is just how I like it. They cook it in a large faux-brick oven. I personally think this place is great for a quick work lunch with good food, large portions, and relatively inexpensive. This will definitely be one of my regular lunch spots now.

Pizza? Or pizza cracker? * Five stars for the customer service: The employees at this location care about their jobs. * Five stars for the value: $ 25 for 4, and everyone got what they wanted! * Three stars(for me personally) for the pizza, but the rest of my family says five! It was just A-OK for me, because I’m not 100% certain I like my pizza flakey thin. It was more like a cracker than a pizza, and one can’t put too many toppings on a pizza cracker, because it’s really hard to eat. However, if I change my mindset and think of my pizza as a cracker, that makes it a pretty appealing cracker! Here’s what I do like about Mod Pizza. Like Rafi A, I had such a fun time building my pizza. I ordered a white sauce pizza with asiago cheese, chopped basil, red onion, sliced tomatoes, ad mild sausage. At the time of my completed order, and at first bite, I thought it was pretty great with the cheese giving it a nice kick, but then it just kept falling apart. My hubby ordered an all veggie pizza with lightweight toppings, and when I stole a bite it stayed in place. So, I’m thinking upon my next trip a salad is in order. My boys ordered the 6″ pizza. I honestly think they could have eaten a 10″ pizza a piece, and next time we may try that. You might wonder why I would give a place three stars for the food and want to come back? Because for picky eaters and a tired mom who doesn’t cook, I don’t have to worry about making everyone happy at home. We’ll be back!

I love the concept and the pizza. It’s cooked in a open flame oven and I always ask them to leave the pizza in for an extra minute or so it get’s nice and crispy. Excellent value. I really have been put off by the ‘regular’ pizza joints charging a bunch of money for extra ingredients sometimes making a small pizza well over ten bucks. Here it’s whatever you want on your pizza for the same price. What an amazing idea. I see these places(Blaze, Pie Five) really putting the heat(pun intended) on the ten to twenty dollar pizza joints to get their prices more reasonable. A big plus is they have beer and wine. Outdoor seating too. Beer and pizza… what a concept!

I would give it 5 stars for the concept, but 2 stars for final product. First time the dough was soggy, so having to use a knife and fork for a thin crust is just wrong. Second visit, I figured I can solve the problem by having them cook it «extra crispy». The final product again had a soggy crust. Not being an engineer, but yet a jolly chunky eater; I was still able to solve the problem the second time around: its the cheese! They load up the crust, which is thin so it can cook quickly in the over, but the cheese is greasy and soaks into the crust. Next time I visit this location or similar concept, I will order it with light cheese. Also seems that on weekends the staff moves slower. Not sure if its a function of staffing and the«A’ team works the weekday lunch crowd and the«B» team swoops in on weekends or less staff. Overall the taste and value was pretty good for a quick fresh pie.

This is an interesting concept where you can make your own pizza and have it fired up while you’re in the store. The actual process of cooking doesn’t take long. But omg the line to get your made to order pizza is forever. How long is forever? 32 minutes at 1PM on a Sunday. I liked my pizza thingy even though my crust was a bit crispy. Service was friendly when I eventually made it to the front of the line. I did not like the following: 1) Waiting 32 minutes on line for pizza that took a whole 5 minutes to cook. I just do not have the time for this during the week unfortunately. I liked the food but I am not sure I can go back unless I have an hour to kill. 2) there is not adequate seating. This is extremely busy and crowded. There is no place to sit inside and in winter time it will be worse if they keep up the current level of business. 3) Why was there not a trash can outside? edit: At least one that I could see. I had to go back inside through the line to toss my trash and return my plate. Another customer and I were whining about there not being garbage outside. note: I am making this edit at the request of another elite who claims there is a garbage can outside. I won’t be back to check but I will take her word that there is one. TBH, I can only report what I see and I did not see a garbage can. You may find one, but I did not. I wish MOD the best. But unfortunately I won’t be back because of time constraints and because I am really annoyed. It’s a shame because it is good food. Addt’l edit. I re-read this review. It reads like it is a 1 or 2 star review. The business also contacted me and offered a gift certificate which I will not accept. It really was not a good experience for me. The line was unmanageable and I hate eating outside and in my hotel room. So no, I won’t go back.

I absolutely love the concept of this place. The veggies tasted extremely fresh and the crust was thin and delicious– and the price was so affordable for unlimited toppings. The only reason I’m knocking it off a couple stars is because the meat didn’t seem as fresh at all– I swear the chicken was that precut Tyson chicken that comes in those baggies. Not very appetizing. But if you stick with vegetables and avoid the meat you’ll definitely be happy with your purchase.

Another fast casual pizza place, pretty similar to others like Pie Five Pizza Co or Blaze pizza. You can use one of their suggested configurations as a starting point or completely customize it in any way you like for a single price — 4.47 for 6″ or 7.47 for 11″. They offer the normal organic crust or gluten free option with about 40 topics to choose from. The pizzas feature fresh ingredients that feel a bit more premium but could be more flavorful(only with additional sauce /seasonings /drizzle does the flavor really pop out). This may be good if you’re trying to eat a little healthier as the basic configurations seem to be a bit light on salt for a pizza. The pizzas come out very fresh out of the oven and you can watch the entire process from the very start of a dough ball. Great place to go if you get bored easily and want tons of customization options for a pizza and you’d like something prepared extremely fresh. With all the options available, it’s also a great place to take friends as there should be something for everyone that can satistfy both gluten-free and vegetarian needs. The taste isn’t amazing enough to qualify as a life altering experience but it’s definitely enjoyable. My only real criticism of the food though is consistency. There should be some stronger controls to ensure that the amount of toppings and cooking time is similar among pizzas. Of the 5 I’ve tried so far, I still can’t determine what a standard amount of toppings and char should look like. When in a group, the difference between one with generous toppings versus one with only a sparing quantity of meat can be a talking point. Hopefully the standard becomes generous toppings with every pizza that will generate word-of-mouth advertising for excellent value and keep this restaurant a popular place with the Deerfield crowd for years to come.

Awesome concept, excellent food! Came in for lunch with my boss today, he wanted to check to see if this would be a good option for his kids. Love the concept of being able to create your own pizza, as many toppings as you’d like, for one price. What’s even better? If you don’t like your creation — they’ll make you another! I created my own with olive oil instead of sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, basil, and sauteed broccolini. The crust is cracker thin and crispy deliciousness. The toppings are obviously fresh, and the pizza comes out to you piping hot. They also have milkshakes, bottled drinks(pellegrino, glass bottle coca cola, etc.) and a fountain. The atmosphere is also MOD, but welcoming. The only thing I *didn’t* like is that MOD is one of those places where every employee shouts«hello!» at every person who walks through the door, similar to «Welcome to Moe’s!» When you’re dining in, that gets really old, really quick. As of 7.16.15 they were not serving booze — probably haven’t gotten the liquor license yet. This is definitely going into the lunch rotation. Reasonably priced, made to order, fresh ingredients and endless combinations, works for me! Thanks, MOD!
