Was very impressed with everything. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and was brought out quickly after we ordered even though it was fairly crowded. We will be returning the next time we are down from Tennessee.

Great food and large servings. The menu is huge so everyone is bound to find something they can be happy with. We always go for breakfast and have never been unsatisfied with the food!

The food is great but it takes :45 to come out. Don’t show up at 10am for breakfast. Come very early. The servers have been great but when they get very busy, no manager or a hostess want to help taking the orders. I have seen people walk out because they were not served.

We ordered a Hog Omelette and a side of pancakes. Lots of food, but the omelette was dry and the hash browns were the worst we’ve had! Just no flavor whatsoever! The pancakes were great although a little dark, and the coffee was dark hot water. Needed a caffeine fix at Starbucks later.

Service left much to be desired and so did the food. The food did come out quick, the eggs and toast were okay, but everything else tasted like it had been prepared hours before. We would not eat there again.

I’m not giving it 5 stars just because it took a bit for someone to come over and seat us. That said, the waitress was attentive, the food was very good, and best of all we only waited about 15min for food to arrive.

Never again! This place was right next to the hotel we were staying at and how could we resist with a big Pancake sign calling our names? Well resisting will be no problem in the future! Got some red flags when it took a while to sit us even though we had been seen by a couple of waitresses. Plus the place itself looks old and not in the cleanest condition. 50 minutes after sitting we still only had our drinks. My sister called our waitress over to see what was going on and we heard«I don’t know what happened, but its going to take another 10 – 15 minutes. You can leave if you want to.» Freaking kidding? Great customer service there! I must sheepishly admit we waited another 10 minutes because we were hungry and already had 50 minutes invested in it. Then the 2 tables behind us, that had parties the same size if not bigger than ours, got their breakfasts that were ordered after ours we had it. Realized there were several tables waiting even though it was not that busy. Another waitress apologized and we didn’t have to pay for the drinks we had gotten, but what a waste of time!

A recent trip to Del Rio, and I decided on Skillet’s for breakfast. This used to be the Kettle, and from the looks of the interior, it seems like not much has changed in over 20+ years or so. My silverware was dirty, which the waitress quickly replaced. My omelette was overcooked, dry, and tough. The hashbrowns were good, thankfully, because the pancakes were thin, and dry. Coffee was decent, and I was just thankful for the caffeine. A greasy spoon establishment, yes, but a subpar one. I spent less than an hour in Skillet’s but it was enough time to notice a good cleaning wouldn’t hurt the establishment. Bussing of tables was non-existent long after customers had left, so if you’re looking to travel back in time a few decades, just step into this Skillet’s.

Skillet’s is a friendly hangout spot for me to meet with friends. Many of the waitresses are friendly and unlike IHOP next door, it does not take two hours for the food to arrive when you decide to eat there late nights. The food is your standard breakfast restaurant menu. You have a choice of breakfast, lunch, or dinner dishes which include french toast, pancakes, pork chops, steak, eggs, hash browns, etc. What I love is the apple pie with ice cream paired with some hot chocolate. I always ask for extra whipped cream and they humbly douse it over flowingly.(Yipee!) Happy 24hr dining!

I came here once for breakfast almost a year ago. I can’t comment on lunch or dinner, but breakfast was just ok. Skillet’s is Del Rio’s version of Denny’s…or worse. From what I can remember I had eggs, toast and sausage. All of it was subpar. I asked for eggs over medium, they came out over easy. The sausage was basically Jimmy Dean’s. My husband seemed to think the French toast was decent, but really, how can you mess up egg battered bread and syrup? About the only good thing here is that the breakfast is really cheap.
