Truly as good as it gets. The dude and I came here for a special night out in Denver, and nothing disappointed. The menu rotates so often and we came so many months ago that I couldn’t tell you precisely what we ordered, but we did share a simple butter lettuce salad with dried cherries, quinoa, and a basil dressing that almost made me want to cry.(The simplicity! The personality! The verve!) For an entrée, I ordered halibut cheeks, because why the hell not, and he ordered the tagliatelle with a hearty meat sauce. We each had a glass of full and fruited white wine. I grew up eating homemade food from my Roman family friends, and so I thought I had tasted the best of Italian cooking. But Il Posto was on par with all of my favorite memories. We had such a truly beautiful evening, and such beautiful food. I wish the owner and staff here all the best, and a long and happy run as a restaurant.

Now one of my top restaurants to visit in Denver. The service is impeccable! There was a gentlemen Who went above and beyond to find us a wine that paired well with our food. After ordering our first course he brought tastes of several wines to pick to try with our entres without us even asking!

Great place for a light dinner. The wine isn’t affordable but the beer selection is. We enjoyed the ambiance and the cheese plate is great– sandwiches are large so consider splitting them!

None of us had ever been here, so we made a reservation during restaurant week to give them a try. They are a super small place with a great causal yet upscale atmosphere. Unfortunately our night started off on the wrong foot as they couldn’t seat us right away, there was no room at the bar, and they didn’t want to do separate checks.(I know it’s a pain guys, but when you are a group of friends and not a family separate checks just make your customers lives easier. Plus most POS systems have that as an option.) Anyway, we had some real mixed reviews. I liked the dishes I selected, and even tried desert(which was delicious), but some of the table had some dissenting opinions. All in all I think half of us loved it, and half didn’t. FYI, the beer list is not to extensive so stick with wine or cocktails which they have plenty of. Check the menu before you make your reservation as it changes daily. I would go back again with a smaller group to see if the experience was different.

We came here with some out of town visitors to celebrate my brother’s graduation. I loved the atmosphere– rustic, minimalist, cozy(some might say cramped). Fabulous service. Soft shell crab was unbelievable. Every single thing was delicious and super fresh however the portion sizes were super small and half of our party left wanting more food. Definitely a good place to share a few plates but would expect a bit more for the price.

Made a reservation on open table(which had already blocked out another time we were trying to book for so we picked what it showed was available.) original reservation was made around 4:30. While looking for parking we get a call from the hostess saying that she was supposed to block open table but hadn’t gotten around to and that no tables were available except for at the bar /«chefs corner». I explained to her that it was disappointing as we made a reservation for a table and should be accommodated with such. It was 5:15 the restaurant opens at 5 and we were the 2nd party there. She said it wasn’t possible. We squeezed into the chefs corner(my husbands tall) and it was a bit uncomfortable. The wine helped him with that though. Lol. As time went on, more parties arrived. Still leaving a number of tables open. We also reached out to a few other employees stating that if someone didn’t show up that we’d love to be seated. More time passed into about 6:30 we’ve already been there for over 1 ½ hrs. Some tables were still empty.(See photos). More than enough room for our party of 2. We pointed it out and our server Kelly made it right as seeing though we finished our meal and 2 tables were still empty. Had been the entire time since the place opened for the evening. I also called the hostess out on her BS when she stated«she called as soon as I made the reservation». I verified the time it was made and when she called, her silence implied she realized she dropped the ball on doing her part. The food and our server Kelly gets 5 stars! Seriously great tasting food. The 3 stars is for the hostess’s nonsense.

Lance & Kellys reviews say it all. Food gets a 5 star rating but whod want to endure nonsense and pay $ 100 for a meal for two? We are blessed enough to be able to afford said meal but wouldve enjoyed it even more if we were comfortable. We were already there & hungry. Dont be like us though. At the first sign of bs, leave. You may still be hungry but plenty good eats around there. Also the hostess on shift today 5÷8÷16 needs some training on time management, and integrity.

I came here with a couple girlfriends after we decided we wanted to start trying out my hole in the wall restaurants. I studied abroad in Tuscany for a summer a few years ago, so I pride myself of having a pretty good judgement for what is authentic and what is not. This is the most authentic Italian restaurants i’ve ever eaten at in America, period! First of all we were greeted at the door by the chef himself. He was so nice, so helpful, and just wanted to make sure we were seated as quickly as possible. Then we were greeted by a very polite Italian woman who provided us with water. After that the restaurants very own somalia stopped by our table to answer any and all questions we had about the wine selection. We ordered the cheapest red wine they had, at $ 9 a glass, it was a Malbec, and again I wish I wrote down the name because it was one the best glasses of wine i’ve ever had, it had so much flavor, and just the right amount of bold and full bodied! My friend ordered the house chardonnay and it was also so smooth and well rounded. Like a true Italian restaurant, they provided our table with a big basket of bread and olive oil for dipping. The bread was incredible. It made me feel like I was back in Castiglion Fiorentio all over again. For the appetizer or(assagini) we ordered the Burrata(House made burrata, huckleberry jam, basil, lavash cracker). It was fabulous. They give you plenty of cheese for sharing, it took all 3 of us quite a while to finish it off, and we love cheese more than you could imagine. For the meal my friends ordered the Tagliatelle(64 degree egg, leeks, potato, chives, parmesan broth, chicken skin breadcrumbs). I was shocked at how much flavor was in such a small pasta dish.(See my picture for the size of the plates vs the amount of food). We were forewarned the portions were small, but thanks to heaps of bread and cheese this was all we needed. I ordered the Pappardelle(w/Berkshire pork-marjoram ragu, Oyster mushrooms, Grana Padano) and it was so appetizing. I will admit I liked the Tagliatelle more, but when I return i’ll be trying something completely different because I’m sure it will be great. Finally, we finished off the meal with the donut holes. They have a more proper name for it but I can’t remember what it was. This was the only part of the meal I wasn’t thrilled with, they were a little dry and i’d recommend a different dessert if you are going to treat yourself. Overall the experience was amazing and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Italian food and the authentic Italian dining experience.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant The owner chef from Sicily always there. The sommelier always has a list of unique Italian wines that are reasonably priced and he can suggest clever pairings. The staff are all happy to be there and make for a wonderful experience. Try the tagliatella it’s fantastic.

My parents ate here with some friends and raved about it, so my boyfriend and I decided to make a reservation for a date night out on a Saturday night. We showed up on time for our 8:15 reservation and were greeted by the hostess. She said they were still waiting for some tables to leave and we couldn’t be seated. There’s nowhere to wait inside of the restaurant, so she suggested we go next door for a drink. I didn’t want a drink… I wanted dinner(even though there’s no working menu on the website and I had no idea what they were serving). We asked if we could sit at the chef’s counter since a couple was leaving, and the hostess went to check. She said she was saving it for a party of 3 that was set to arrive after us. Then she said we could sit there if we promised to scoot over one seat when they arrived. I watched the owner clear the area, then the hostess came back and informed us that the seats were actually being saved for the owner’s friends and again urged us to go next door for a drink. That was our cue to leave. Never again.

This little Italian place was perfect for our carb meal. Great location and service. Wine, apps, pasta were all delicious and amazing. The portions are on the smaller side so we ordered several items and shared and they were all great, especially loved the octopus appetizer(even if you don’t like octopus you would love it, it was prepared differently than I’ve ever tried).

Overpriced, noisy, pretentious, and insulting. I’m not talking about overtly insulted, I’m talking about being insulted by bringing me ‘insalata’ which was a small plate of mixed greens, two half-sized melon ball scoops of avacdo, a teaspoon full of 4 mm cubed beets, 4 – 5 midget pumpking seeds, and charging me $ 10!!! This was followed by a farfalle pasta ‘primi’ which although al dente, was underwhelming. This of course was served in oversized, flyer saucer plate with a small bowl formed in the middle. This was a completely vegetarian dish for an incredulous $ 17. A friend had a reportedly tasty risotto with figs; but once again it was about one cup(8 oz) and after 25 minutes of preparation was billed at $ 25!!! Don’t let anyone tell you that the cost of ingredients(not unless one is eating caviar and truffles by the pound), no matter how fresh and local they are, is the reason for exorbitant prices. Even with the extra cost of good ingredients, the dramatically reduced portions do not justify the cost. And in this instance, Il Posto certainly has a nice, somewhat rustic/hip neighborhood charm, but you are dining in a very small environment, with tables crammed together in an early 20th century structure where sound bounces all over the place, resulting in stimulus overload; not to mention that you have to shout to be heard across the table. In other words, the prices are not justified by a beautifully decorated room with an exclusive ambience. The wait staff was clearly not intrusive and I lost count of how many times my water glass was filled, but not once did our server come to the table and ask about the meal, enquire if we needed anything else, etc. Here’s the bottom line, I can dine at Kevin Taylor’s in a beautiful atmosphere, carry on a conversation w/o shouting, be waited on by a cadre of exceptional servers, be surpised by unexpected appetizers, and luxuriate in world class cuisine over and over and over, and pay essentially the same prices as Il Posto. Because this was my first time there I could claim ignorance and be insulted. Now I’m no longer ignorant, so I can only be accused of being stupid if I return to be insulted again.

The best meal I’ve ever experienced! Max was fabulous. From the wine, the meat and cheese plates, calamari, the risotto(highly recommend) to the bass and short ribs! Please, do yourself a favor and eat here!

I’ve dined here several times and Il Posto is quickly becoming my go-to restaurant for a special occasion. The atmosphere is fantastic. It’s an intimate, neighborhood place that maintains a classy and upscale feel. I love the patio right on 17th Ave– it just invites you in from the street. Walk inside and it only gets better. The menu changes seasonally, so I’m always discovering new favorites. Everything is fresh and much of it is local. Any pasta dish is sure to be a winner. I had a take on spaghetti that was both everything and nothing like spaghetti, and so much better. My husband had pasta that was dyed black with squid ink– so unique and flavorful. The wine list is comprehensive, and the sommelier was also eager to make us a signature cocktail.

I had high hopes and expectations as I took some co-workers and colleagues here. The space is cute. The doors/windows were open which proved to be super hot though and many of the men at our table were uncomfortably hot. They would not turn on the AC. Most of us did the chef’s prix fixe menu. The best part was the calamari appetizer. Robust sauce and unique flavors — really enjoyed it. The risotto was a little salty for my taste and the char was very charred, unfortunately. Our server seem annoyed that we were there and did not know one wine from the other which was disappointing as well. This place seems to have a lot of great reviews so maybe we just go there on an «off» night but for the small amount of people in the restaurant, I had hoped our service would have been better.

Wow this was a great find! If I lived in Denver this would be one of my favorite places to dine. I was visiting with a group of family and friend. We were having drinks at the bar next door and thought we would just see if we could get a table here. The owner was there and was very happy to accommodate our group with a short wait. We were still enjoying drinks so we didn’t mind the wait and they were busy. The food is exceptional! Everything is made fresh so it can be a bit of a wait for your food but its totally worth it. Pricing is also very reasonable. If all of that wasn’t enough to make you want to visit, I have to say in my Denver experience this was the only restaurant that I was impressed by the servers and staff. They were attentive but not annoying; knowledgeable and very willing to assist one of our group with some unusual dietary restrictions.

I just had an unreal lunch here. Adam was our server and he was terrific. Everything we ate was perfectly prepared and balanced dishes. Perfection = We started with the Bufala mozzarella, one of the best dishes in town. Then we had the calamari. Then the Tagliatelle, perfectly al dente. A nice bottle of Rose and finished with Vanilla Anglaise. Overall a great experience and a great lunch.

Went to Il Posto a few weeks back with an ad rep who was in town. We were a large group and our server did a great job taking care of everyone. Started with some delicious charcuterie, different pastas and then entrees. I had the duck, which was fabulous. They have a great wine and cocktail list — I especially liked the Italian Manhattan. A little spendy, but everything here is made to order, fresh and delicious.
