We tried this at our favorite farmers market the other day. Sometimes a grilled cheese just hits the right spot, ya know? Grilled up panini style with three basic options, then simple add-ons to perk them up as you desire. The great touch was the tomato soup as a side dipping cup. It’s just as basic and comforting as you can get. And honestly, it filled us up for quite some time. This is going to be a common truck for us come late fall weather, I foresee.

Really wanted to like it more than I did. The thing is, if you’re going to do a theme that is kind of limited(grilled cheese sandwiches), you’d better be inventive and you better nail it. They indeed have a lot of choices, I like how they stick signs with today’s selections on the side of the truck. But ALL the sandwiches are made on the same bread: Texas Toast(aka thick white bread). And they grill the sandwiches on a dry grill, so no buttery toastiness on that Texas Toast. Among the cheeses on the various selections the day I went, provolone was about as exotic as they went. So, the sandwich was okay, but they’re really going to get a bit, no a lot more interesting for me to go back.

I ordered the jalapeño grilled cheese and was sadly disappointed. I like a really«melty» grilled cheese. Despite the fact that it was made fresh, my cheese quickly hardened and it was as if I was somehow eating a warm, hard cheese sandwich. Even my husband, who lovesss grilled cheese, wouldn’t finish it. A grilled cheese truck is an excellent concept, but unfortunately, this particular truck leaves a lot to be desired…

This was my food truck of choice at the most recent Civic Center Eats. I was in a hurry so I just wanted something simple I could eat on the go and grilled cheese sounded delicious. I got a Caprese melt, which came with pesto, tomatoes, and mozzarella. While it was good, I didn’t feel that it was worth the $ 7(note: they accept CCs) I paid for it. The pesto didn’t really stand out and I wish they would’ve used fresh mozzarella. The bread was okay but didn’t blow me away. I love the concept of a grilled cheese truck and would return again(maybe not at Civic Center Eats but definitely if I saw this bad boy at a brewery) but I also feel that there was room for improvement.
