3.5 stars. This was a fun concept with the individual hotpots. We ordered 3 beef($ 14.99) and a seafood shabu(~$ 16.99). Included in the price is udon, ramen, or rice with egg. Unlimited veggie bar. Fan of the sauces except for the spicy mayo. The meat quality wasn’t as good as the sukiyaki hotpot we do at home, but everyone enjoyed dinner here. The interior could use more personality tho.

Generous portions — can be shared. Love the sizzling platter serving style. Each seating has its own heating setting unlike other typical Korean restaurants have a central shared cooking setting.

Very traditional shabu place. Good place to try if you do not something heavy. The place is clean.

This place is newly opened and i thought i’d give it a try. As far as décor and the style of the restaurant, it’s pretty good. Hot pots that cook on your table thats built in. Heats up fast, pretty simple, choose your meat, and they bring it to you on a platter. I chose beef, it looked like a lotta meat with some veggies. When i cooked it, because it was so thinly sliced, it was like nothing. They also said that veggies are free refills, but you only get cabbage, carrots and kale. And kale added a very odd taste to the soup, i wouldn’t recommend adding it. This is what really ricked me off… They have this bowl that you cant pickup and drink the soup from because it is boiling hot, and they DONOT have a big spoon to drink it with.(Like phở restaurants) so you’re sitting there with a bowl full of soup and like a tiny tablespoon. While you’re sitting there trying to drink that soup with that tiny spoon, i lost alll my appetite. And because you cook your own food basically in that pot, i am not an expert to properly flavor the hot pot myself, so unless you absolutely wanna cook your own food at a restaurant, and drink the soup with this small spoon, then i would try it out. The soup is very flavorless unless you flavor it yourself. The staff was really nice though, like every new restaurant should be.

This is my first ever Unilocal review, but I wanted to give kudos to the first Korean style Shabu place in IL that actually met my expectations. The meats(not all you can eat) and vegetables(all you can eat), were fresh and of good quality. The broth was not too salty, and they had ample selection of sauces that weren’t all bland. My fav was the spicy mayo type sauce that went excellent mixed with the bright citrus notes of the ponzu sauce. The owner was on hand, and made sure we were checked on often. I really don’t go to Korean places expecting good service though. Extra bonus points for the new individual conduction burners that heat up your broth relatively fast. For the price of about $ 15, you also get the 2nd course which includes your choice of ramen, udon, or rice porridge made in your now deliciously flavored broth. We’ll be going back for more!

There was a bug in the food and they dened it. They didnt even say sorry. Manager is saying the bug just flew and dived into the food by itself while we are eating. However, The bug came from ramen noodle package. They used ramen noodle package that has a bug inside. Its really loud with refrigerator being outside by our table. Food Taste bad over all. it was really Bad management. poor food sanitation condition. I will never go back again.

Checked out this new Shabu Shabu spot for lunch today. This is a new location and the interior is very clean and modern with nice tile floors and an open feel. Each table has its own individual station for the hot pot service. For those unfamiliar with Shabu Shabu it’s basically like doing a Chinese hot pot style meal. You pick the meat you want(beef, lamb, or seafood) and you cook at meat at your table in a hot boiling broth. There are also veggies and dipping sauces for the meats. They provide 4 dipping sauces: gochu jang, sesame, something like thousand island, and one other. The sauces were very forgettable. This place also offers a free veggie bar to go along with your meats. Quick warning, the broth is boiling hot so you should let the meats and veggies cool on your plate before consuming. Overall the food was kinda blah and the service no so great(very Typical of your standard Korean restaurant service levels). It is also pricy for what you get. Probably would not return.

Yoh Unilocal, this is Korean cusine! Here’s yet another iteration with innovation of the Asian hot-pot style meal. What you get: *Your very own built-in controllable electric burner at the table. Yes, per person! *Delicious and bottomless kim chee and spicy marinated radishes. *Choice of beef, lamb, or seafood platter loaded w/8 kinds of veggies. *Sauces galore to customize your Shabu to your liking. *Free self serve refills on veggies and fresh sauce ingredients, *Ramen included for course #2, a serious Shabu to-do. *Rice and egg included for course #3, a satisfying self made porridge to end meal. Very clean dining room, super friendly service, and huge parking lot. And the most healthy meal I’ve had all year!
