Merlins Pizza

After ordering in during a vacation 2 years ago we decided to dine in on Tuesday June 28, 2016. The restaurant is located in a strip center off the main drag in Destin. From the outside you wouldn’t think much of Merlins but the interior has a modern flare. It’s a bit small when walking in, but after sitting down I didn’t get that cramped feeling.
The waitress immediately brought menus and took our drink orders. She was very polite and attentive throughout our visit. We ordered cheese sticks, a garden salad, a medium ½ cheese ½ pepperoni, and a large ½ Hawaiian ½ veggie. Cheese sticks were were about as good a cheese sticks could be, while the garden salad was large enough for two to share. The pizzas came out surprisingly shortly after we finished with the appetizers. Pizza crust is a little thicker than what I would prefer, but was cooked to a crisp perfection. I didn’t eat any of the medium, but those that did had no complaints. I did have the veggie and the toppings were larger than the norm and plentiful.
The cost was $ 43 including tax. A little more than the chains, but not by much. The taste though is definitely hands above the competition. If you’re looking for a local hidden gem to call your go to spot, this is it.

Great service and amazing pizza. We had a large group (4 adults and 6 teenagers/​college kids) and ordered a xl supreme, lg buffalo chicken and Med bbq chicken pizza and salad. The waitress came out to see if we needed a to go box and nothing was left. Our waitress was very attentive. The killer hot sauce (habaneros) was a big hit with my boy friend, they had no more in stock and she let him add $$ on to the tip and take the bottle from the table. Highly recommend this if you’re in the Destin area.

Excellent experience. The service was great and very personable. The food was tasty. They made a gluten free pizza for my celiac son and he loved it. It’s a small place. They do most of their business through carry out and delivery, so they only have 12 tables.

Stopped for lunch at Merlin’s Pizza. We had The Meaty Feast Deluxe and the Seven Cheese Pizza! Both were hot and fabulous! Can not wait to go back.

I love pizza. Love it. Every time I move, I immediately start on a journey to find the best pizza in the area. I didn’t move to Destin, only visiting, but it only took me two tries to find an absolutely amazing pizza place I’d be sure to frequent if I lived here. I ordered delivery of 6 cheese cheese bread and a large polla Bella pie. I’ll start with the pizza. Typically I’m a meat pizza guy but my wife went with this seemingly strange pie. It didn’t seem appetizing when reading the description but whoever came up with this pizza is a genius and it leads me to believe that the other eccentric pies they have are probably equally as well inspired. The flavor was absolutely on point and everything played well together. Cooked to perfection as well. They advertise the cheese bread not being like other places garbage bread with sparse dry crispy cheese. I figured it was all a bunch of hot air until I opened the box. Absolutely LOADED with cheese. Feta cheese chunks the size of a babies fist. There were gobs of cheese on the bottom of the box after my family demolished this angelic bread and that’s not to say it slid off the bread leaving it bare. It was just extra cheese for free cheese consumption. I ordered delivery and it was at my place in under 40 mins. If you’re in destin and want pizza, don’t look any further than merlins. It’s a bit pricey but they do not skimp on value. Worth it. Don’t be an idiot. Eat merlins pizza.

Pizza was awesome! We got a large pizza, half buffalo wing and half pepperoni explosion! We also split a Caesar salad. Definitely enough for two but was only okay, nothing special. Marlin’s was casual and quaint inside and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Service was ok. kinda slow but the poor waitress was serving the whole dining room herself so it was understandable. Our food came out fresh and hot so we were happy! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some good pizza!

Karolann is the best waitress in Destin. She deserves extra incentives because of her excellent job performance.

Being from NY I am very particular about my pizza. I have lived in Florida for 15 years and am very difficult to please when it comes to meeting the standards of «NY Style» pizza. Of all the places I have gotten pizza from Merlins Pizza is my favorite by far. They don’t claim to be NY Style pizza but they sure come close… a lot closer than those that do. We have ordered from Merlins a few times and tried various styles and toppings and they all have exceeded my expectations. We ordered a specialty pizza which had lots of hearty toppings on thin crust, and I was expecting it to be a soggy mess like most other places, but I was definitely wrong. The perfectly cook crust was crisp and held up to the delicious combination toppings. Their delivery service is friendly and fast. Hands down best pizza around!

Well I am new to the Destin area, Destin proper at least… And I think I found the best pizza place that I have ever enjoyed from merlins pizza right on airport road. While visiting & living in this whole entire area, since before 2008, spanning from Fort Walton Beach to Santa Rosa Beach — this place is top notch. Great price for the amount of toppings and pizza size with the amazing taste to match.
Customer service was amazing. I usually write long reviews but superfluous text is not needed here. Eat here. End of story.

Cheese sticks are fabulous! Pizza is pretty good also. The hand tossed is a little thicker than I usually like but the cheese and toppings make up for it ;) Plus this was one of the cheapest meals my family had since we have been here.

Pretty good, the hand tossed slightly too doughy for my liking, wish we had tried the thin crust. Pms with spinach was very good so was pepperoni explosion defiantly more greasy. Delivery was prompt and friendly.

The pizza is pretty freaking good. The waitress very nice and welcoming. The bathroom was clean and smelled nice. Pizza is very cheesy and saucy. Burning my toung was worth it lol. Best part is you can have a beer while you wait. Only down side is the guy who answered the phone sounded like life sucked and got my order wrong, hence I ended up paying close to $ 50 for 2 adults and a 7 year old. I would still order pizza from there again.

Visiting Fort Walton Beach on Spring Break and my family wanted pizza and wings. We got a deluxe, cheese, and Hawaiian. All hand tossed crust. Added some BBQ wings for a great dinner. We will definitely place another carry out order on our next visit.

This is very well-​executed «small-​town America» Mom and Pop pizza, made with good ingredients. We’ve tried several different types of their pizza and enjoyed each of them.
This is not going to compare to your favorite place back home, but if you set your expectations to «way better than the chains» you will not be disappointed.
I ran my own pizza shop many years ago, and (since I completely failed to succeed) I have a lot of curiosity about how folks do what they do. The first time that I went in, I asked if I could come behind the counter, and they gave me a tour. The kitchen was well-​organized, and very clean.
The order online option works very well with the coupons available on their website.
If you want good (and way better than the national chains) take-​out pizza in Destin, you will not go wrong with Merlin’s.

We’re visiting with our family and decided to order pizza one night so we checked reviews and couldn’t have been more pleased. Everything was fresh and delicious. We ordered a couple of pizzas, some cheesy bread (which was oh my god amazing) and some of the boneless wings. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a night in!

Friendly staff amazing pizza. Their cheese bread is hands down best I’ve ever had. They offer a guarantee that if you have a bad experience with a «corporate» pizza chain they will take the uneaten portion and replace it with a large of their own. I will definately be back here when I am in Destin!

We are from out of town and love Pizza. We ordered 12 inch Greek Pizza to go and WOW, was it fantastic. Not only was the flavor outstanding with all the ingredients that were included, it was a lighter version of a full blown pizza.
The crust was so full of flavor and perfectly baked.
This is really one of the best pizza’s we’ve ever had.

This place is very good. It’s pizza is ALWAYS homemade and home tossed and is also always made by the 2 same people. The restaurant is ran by 3 talented people (with 2 chefs) and I totally suggest it because it is so good and they even take special orders! It also has gluten free pizza and wings!
Also for the adults there are large televisions with football and for the kids there are small ones that they can change to whatever they please! Plus free wifi for all the guest which the password is on the napkin container!

We were on our annual beach vacation in Destin, FL and decided one night that we wanted pizzas and wings… So I got on Unilocal and saw that Merlins Pizza have a lot of good reviews with lots of locals backing it up. Me and the boyfriend end up ordering a Large Hawaiian pizza (16.99), with 20 piece hot wings. We got 10 of the hot wings in their sweet buffalo sauce and the other 10 in regular hot. This was a togo order and Merlins pizza packaged the wings in togo containers with sauce on the side. I liked this because I can then mixed the sauces and just shake it up when I get home and it will be less messy to transport.
After we went home and tried the pizzas… we thought it was a-​okay… nothing spectacular. The wings on the other hand… were our favorites. I loved the sweet buffalo sauces and thought it was really good. If we are ever craving wings while we are in Destin in the future, we would come back to Merlin for the wings only. Also, if you check in on Unilocal,they give you a free soda of your choice. :)
