I was expecting some unique produce at good prices and Publix was no more adventurous and definitely not less expensive than what I can get at home in the upper midwest. The employees were friendly but I didn’t think the prices or selection in the deli or produce was good at all.

DONOTBUYPISTACHIOS… On vaca here in destin and went to publix to get pistachios first bag(with shells) found a bug imbedded in a pistachio… Threw out a 20.00 bag. Decided to get another bag of the no shells and they are absolutely TERRIBLE and burnt tasting. So disappointed.

Visited their deli and they have the best ciabiti bread. Cheese that was real, not the plasticy type that most have, smoked turkey that wasn’t the overprocessed junk. Prices ok too. Love PUBLIX. Wish we had these stores nearer where I live.

Cue the«Wild Thing» song, replace Wild Thing with Publix… Yeah it doesn’t rhyme, but I really love Publix, and get downright giddy about it when I go on vacation to Florida, knowing that I will be able to enjoy this super market. No, it’s not the mecca or fancy grocery markets that they have in Houston and Portland that make you swoon at the 15 varieties of onion and fresh flowers, but it’s what your every day grocery store should aspire to be like. My biggest pet peeves in any grocery store is not finding produce or herbs that I need, and long lines at check out. This is a constant problem at the local grocery stores here in NOLA, but not Publix! They were stacked with a serious produce section as well as herbs in bags, tubes, bushels and«lightly dried»(SQUEAL!!). A lot of their produce was also buy one get one free or other great deals(on avocados, when do you ever get a deal on an avocado?!) for the Memorial Day Weekend. They even had these cute little recipe cards near the produce section(see picture). Love that. Brilliant marketing that encourages sales while also helps your guests make some delicious side dish. Their other stock was definitely sufficient, store was clean, and the lines were quick with hospitable service(we asked our groceries to be split between three cards). …and if you haven’t had a Publix sub, you’re missing out. Serious goodness and a great value. I enjoyed a 12 in. Italian(two meals for me) with a good bit of meat, fluffy bread, crunchy veggies… perfect to enjoy on the beach with all my BOGO fruit. Can’t wait to go back to Florida… for the Publix.

Horrible customer service at this location. I am on vacation in Destin and could not believe the difference in the customer service from the Publix stores in the Atlanta area. Also, beware as they have different policies(I.e for BOGO items, you have to buy two items to get the BOGO price). In Atlanta, you can buy just one item for half the price. I am a loyal Publix customer at the stores in Atlanta but will not visit this store again.

They don’t have any Publix Markets in Kentucky, so I was bit amused the very first time that I shopped in one. This particular location was my second Publix experience, and I was just as impressed as the first. I found several items on sale and at reasonable prices but I think that the fresh produce was priced a bit more than what I expected. They cut the watermelon up and price it by the pound. I think I paid like $ 12 for the bowl that I bought. Which was a bit surprising that watermelon cost more in FL than it does in KY, in the spring. I didn’t really care though after I’d already watched at the ladies slicing the juicy slices, I was willing to pay whatever the cost… What a shameless marketing ploy! They also have a big wine selection. They don’t sell alcohol on Sundays before a certain time… that’s not their fault though, it’s one of those weird state laws. Don’t they know that we want our wine in the mornings? We are on vacation, darn it.

High prices & don’t get stuck in line behind someone with a stack of competitor coupons. Not impressed.

Publix is another grocery chain that I wish existed in California! This was the nearest grocery store to our rental house during our stay in Destin, so we came here many times for our food shopping needs. It’s a big, well-lit, typical American supermarket with very friendly workers in green. The little details, however, make me a big fan! There’s DAIYACHEESE! Vegannaise! All the big name(and little name) soy milk, almond milk, and rice milk brands! Essentially what I’m saying is… is that I came to a little town by the sea that’s known for fishing and seafood, and there’s an abundance of vegan specialty items nearby! I was a very happy little vegan that weekend. Things can be a little confusing and hard to find. I needed pine nuts and the employees pointed out 3 separate locations to find them. They also have a well-stocked and organized win selection. For your partying nights, they sell liquor in a smaller section just outside their front door.

Publix is a solid grocery chain. They are clean, prices are reasonable, and they have a large inventory of things you need. They are always very friendly if you need help. I wish they had more organic options, but I hear a Whole Foods is coming to the Destin area soon. I hope so! I also shop at Fresh Market just down the road.

Love Publix even though it’s so much more pricey then being able to shop on base. I shop there for stuff that I can’t find at local Commissary.

All of my Florida friends always rave about this place so when we were in town for a wedding I needed to see if the hype was real, and it was! The entire store was clean, well lit and looked pretty stocked as well. We went to the deli counter and my friends highly recommended that I get the chicken tender sandwich and it did not disappoint! I got mine on the multigrain bread with cheddar cheese and some jalapenos. Don’t forget to order it with honey mustard as it is the perfect complement with the chicken tenders. They chop up the chicken tenders so you get a bit of the crispy chicken-y goodness with every bite. The staff is super friendly too! The person making my sandwich was super nice and made suggestions like chopping up the onion I so it would blend better with the flavors of the sandwich, great suggestion! I got the combo which included a huge drink(I got the powerade!) and a bag of chips for only $ 1.50 more! When I got to register, the cashier noticed I got the sandwich combo and made me aware that there was a coupon that I could use with my meal. She immediately pulled out the color advertisement and applied it to my meal. How nice! I didn’t even know about the discount and she let me use her coupon without me digging/looking around the store for one. So overall, great experience and I would definitely visit again next time I’m in FL. I only took one star off because this particular location didn’t have a seating area for us to eat our sandwiches. This wouldn’t have been extremely helpful since it was pouring down rain and we ended up eating our delicious sandwiches in the car. :(

This is the nicest all-purpose grocery store in town. They also have very decent sushi, in my opinion. It’s clean, bright and has a great staff. Then again, most Publix stores do.

Yum! Very good key lime pie, and mango key lime pie! Surprising from a grocery store, but yes, it is good, and only $ 7 – 8! MUCH better than Donut Hole’s! They also have a good selection of stuff, a lot of International foods, I could have gone crazy in here. It’s a little expensive, not sure if because we were in Florida(we are from Texas) or if this is considered a specialty store.(our first time in a Publix).

We just got married down here in lovely Destin. Our wedding party consisted of just three people: myself, my husband, and my daughter. Needless to say, a big wedding cake was not needed. Upon asking our wedding planner on where we could procure a small cake, she immediately said«Publix Bakery». Oh, my daughter’s birthday was the day before the wedding, so we wanted a cake for that too. I called the bakery department and was given wonderful customer service. Our two mini cakes were absolutely delicious. And, despite them being so small(5 in), they were still able to write Happy Birthday on my daughter’s.(She’s eating some leftover cake right now for breakfast — I’m such a bad mother, I know!) So, in total, our bakery cakes ended up costing less than $ 30. Can’t beat that with a stick. I would trust Publix bakery for any need. They rock.

This Publix not only rocks because it is better than other grocery stores, but it also sports it’s own liquor store! This store offers nothing more special than other Publix stores, but it does have a liquor store on the side and that is worthy of 5 stars!

It good to have a local store chain offer organic foods and fresh foods at that. Publix also has a good wine selection and their stores are usually clean. They give you a better shopping experience than some the bigger chains around town. You also can’t beat free coffee when you walk through the entrance.
