This store looks like a perfect convenient fit for those not wanting to dive in to the abyss that is the supermarket. I’ve never been a «smaller market» type of shopper but for the gallon of milk that I wanted tonight, this was spot on. For one, the pricing wasn’t as outrageous as I’d almost expected a «quickie-mart» to be.(Milk– $ 3.99/one gallon or $ 7/two gallons) Secondly, I didn’t have to step foot in to the supermarket. Third and lastly, I liked supporting the small business that is «Michael’s» Market Wine & Spirit. If you ever have anything that you’d want to smoke, I think this place will set you up with just about whatever you’re going to want. If looking for this place on Unilocal, search«Michael’s Market Wine & Spirit»…but if you’re reading this you’ve already found it so nevermind. An ATM is right up front if you are low on cash, and there are many many many bottles of(assumedly) distilled alcoholic beverages lining the front wall. Thanks for being so pleasant even though I came in for one measly gallon of milk! I will undoubtedly return.

The owners are great! They are very knowledgeable of craft beers and if they don’t have they can order it. I know when I walk in I am well received and we talk about craft beers. If you are looking for craft beers this is your one stop shop.

Everyone has their opinion and I will mention there is no Bevmo, Trader Joes, Nugget, Raleys or Whole Foods here in very un-business friendly Dixon. There is a story behind the«Pliny» referred to by the other reviewer… but I won’t go into that. So the owner will actually order specific beer for you and I am betting he would do the same for wine… just ask him. So while the powers that be in Dixon continue their onslaught via the good olé boy network… I will continue to visit this establishment for my alcohol purchases and keep my business local. With the caveat being Wal-Mart doesn’t exactly carry craft brew.

First of all I am always excited to see a new business move into Dixon. Being a somewhat of a beer nerd, I was glad that there is a specialized liquor store that actually cares about craft beer and proper storage here in town. I stopped by few times before they opened and had a chat with the owner, who seemed like a friendly guy and showed me the store before they cut the ribbon and what they will carry. At that time I noticed that the prices for almost everything on the shelf were about a dollar or more than in Vacaville(BevMo, Barrel 2 Bottle), but still decided to come back and support the local business even though working in Vacaville and getting my beer for less there is more convenient. That said, unfortunately, I will not be back at Dixon Market Wine and Spirit. Here’s why… Pliny the Elder is a hard to find beer. The only place where it is consistently available is the brewery in Santa Rosa itself. I was super happy to see that this store got a case of Pliny and went over to get some bottles. I was informed they had two in the back and of course, decided to take them both. Once the same guy/owner I spoke to before rung me up, I noticed the number of $ 24 on the register display. Ummmm… excuse me? $ 24 for two bottles of Pliny??? Upon seeing my shocked expression, I was told the prices are not like at the brewery. For anyone’s information, retail on Pliny at Whole Foods is about $ 5.50. So DIxon Market Wine and Spirit is selling it for double. Nice. Maybe they can do this to noobs or lazy folks but I myself would rather make a drive to Santa Rosa or drink another fresh tasty brew(that, luckily, we in Cali have no shortage off). than paying the double for whatshouldwecallit«convenience». Needless to say, I left the bottles and the store. While it is nice to have an option in town and wish luck to any new business, I will stick to buying my beer elsewhere. I understand that the business is there to make profit, however there should be some rules. One of them being don’t be ripping your customers off. They will see through it sooner or later. Just because Pliny is a commodity, it is not right to sell it for double. Or maybe it is. but not to me.
