We just had a nasty experience at Omega. The owner snuck a 20 percent tip onto my credit card even though I told him I had left a cash tip. I am going to contest it with the credit card company because he handed me receipt without asking me to sign anything. Then he walked to the back and it was very clear from his gestures that he was discussing me or the transaction with another management person. I was very uncomfortable. And btw, the service was great but the food was not, and in fact it was pretty bad. They have gone way downhill lately. We have been going for years and will not go back. I just learned that on a previous solo visit he was very rude to my husband because he did not like the answers my husband gave on the survey form. That is it. We have gone there for decades but no more.

This place absolutely sucks! The service is poor and the food is nasty. I hated the burger and it was falling apart being so soggy. My Grandma even didn’t like her shrimp pasta and she never complains. My Dad said the chopped sirloin was the worst in town. We will never go here again!

Sunday, I ate with my husband and daughter at the Omega, Downers Grove. I ordered Chicken Stir Fry with Vegetables. After I went home in about 3 hours later, I started getting sick, Continuos Vomiting, Diarrhea, Weakness and Fever. I went to see my Doctor the next day and was diagnose«‘FOODPOISONING«Beware! Do not eat at this Restaurant. From what I heard they are filthy and the food they are serving will get you sick. I called and tried to speak to the Manager and complain, all he had to say was« What do you want me to do.» Be careful ALL and listen to me, this is my 1st time ever had food poisoning and its from OMEGARESTAURANT!!! Don’t ever go here!!!

TRULYOUTSTANDINGFOODANDSERVICE. Amanda our server made my family birthday dinner a truly exceptional experience. From the beginning she got everything right and timed our drinks, soup, appetizers and meal perfectly. She was friendly and curteous in everything she did. The atmosphere was clean and very well lit and well decorated. I would difinetly eat here again. Thanks Omega and Amanda for a great birthday!

In recent times, this restaurant has been much better than in the past. The failed cooks haven’t been seen, the failed waitress appears to be gone though there are still a couple that they would be better to not have on the staff, and — according to several workers — the new owner does a much better job of running the place than the last ones. On the most recent visit, the chicken Caesar salad, bread basket with muffins and the sweet and sour cabbage soup were very good. And an apparently new waitress Jenni was excellent. Hopefully, the cooks of the past will not return — as they had been brought back over and over in the past under the previous owners — and hopefully the few lame waitresses and waiters that remain will be weeded out before long. It appears that the wait staffers who have been there the longest are pretty bad. The new managers don’t close the restaurant up to three hours before the posted time like the elderly guy that finally retired used to do at will. Even the most recent bus staff seems to me an improvement over the staff of the past. To be on the safe side, ask for Jenni or easy-on-the-eyes Amanda to be your server and you should have a terrific dining experience. Though prices have increased here, it’s worth it when everything is good. My opinion of this restaurant has gone from one extreme to the other — from one star to five stars — mostly because it obviously has some guys in the kitchen who know what they’re doing for a change. The only bad thing is that they are closing earlier and earlier as time goes on. Now, during the week, it closes at 11 and at midnight on the weekend. It used to be open 24 hours a day which was fantastic! But then, it was the overnight kitchen crew who couldn’t even boil an egg right… and no, I’m not kidding.

Average Greek restaurant has ups and downs though with food preparation. My last visit was one of the downs. The ice tea was weak for the start of the meal. I ordered the low carb Garlic chicken. Unfortunately the garlic was all burned and the chicken breast was overcooked and very dry. The vegetables were all charred black too. The waitress never came to check if my meal was good or not or to refill the tea. The manager last night did not ask how my meal was which they used to do always. Maybe they are closing again??? I will definitely not return soon.

Boy oh boy! Tonight’s visit was AWESOME!!! Host sat us by our most favorite waitress of all time, Kerri!!! Kerri is quite a pleasant server! Very friendly and always on top of things! She makes sure our coffee cups and ice-tea glasses are always full. I was so happy when I looked at the menu to see our favorite soups listed, Clam Chowder & Chicken Vegetable!!! All the soups are homemade and are available for take out as well!!! Always a plus in our book!!! I took home an extra cup of the Chicken Vegetable for tomorrow’s lunch and the hubby took a quart of Clam Chowder for the next couple of days as a treat! He just absolutely loves their Clam Chowder! Hardly ever misses a Friday afternoon without going to Omega to pick up some of that good soup! As for dinner, I ate the Turkey Melt loaded with lots of meat! Was so yummy! And John ordered a Flaming Saganaki with a BIG«OPA» from one of the other servers that lit it! So Delicious and a little on the salty side, however, a couple of those biale rolls with a little bit of butter make the Saganaki a little more delicious! My hubby eats it just the way it comes after it’s been lit and squeezed with some lemon juice. Besides the Saganaki, John ate a Turkey-BLT Club, always with crispy bacon and extra mayo. We stuffed ourselves like it was our last meal! How could you not, when you have such delicious food right in front of you! Tonight’s dinner was a real treat! Maybe the next time we come in, which will probably be this Sunday, we’ll just have some of that DELICIOUS homemade Cream of Chicken Rice Soup and a fresh baked pastry! That’ll definitely be next on our list!!! ‘Til the next time, Omega!!! Two thumbs up!!!

I would strongly recommend to make a better choice in a place to eat. I have no idea why this place is so busy… Perhaps because it is in a convenient location? At any rate, I’ve been here twice in recent times, and it isn’t worth coming here. The staff is not very polite. The last time I was here, I came with my mother and my great aunt. Mind you, my aunt is almost 90. The server we had gotten snippy with my aunt because she thought my aunt was being rude. Because of the server’s attitude, my aunt became snippy back because her attitude was out of the blue. I’m also not impressed with the food. It wasn’t the worst food I’ve eaten by any means, but it was nowhere near how it used to be about 10 years ago. It’s lacking taste and flavor.

Be honest about your hours. I was so excited to come get soup for my daughter at your location just to find it closed early. Nothing more disappointing than when a location does not have honest hours.

The food was good however, the customer service was awful. It seemed like nobody there wanted to be at work except the managers. Our waitress slammed glasses on the table and was not friendly at all.

This place is just ok, they give you a nice basket of bread, which really came in handy because the food took forever. The waitress was friendly and gave the kids balloons, we did have to ask for them after seeing other kids with them though.

Omega is a neighborhood staple. A wide menu with plenty of options, prices are cheap and the food is good. I love their soups and bread. My favorite is their matzo ball soup which is available on Thursdays. The bakery also has amazing cookies. Ever since I was little, Omega just has the typical diner very homey restaurant feel. Is the food healthy? God no but it is a great place to go with friends or pick up on a cold day.

I was an advocate for them in the past. Our visit this time wasn’t great. The skirt steak was about half the size of previous visits and cooked too well done. Our server was surly too! Here’s what topped it off for me and will not allow me to think about returning. At the register there was a woman questioning her added charges with the manager and cashier. She apparently had gluten free and egg whites or something That was added on as extra charges. The customer thought the server should have told her these things were extra. The manager was downright rude to her. Right or wrong he could have treated her with respect. So he gained the couple of dollars and probably lost that lady and her Partner and certainly has lost my wife and I As customers. Penny wise.

I should clarify, a Groupon’s promotional value expires, but the amount you pay for the Groupon never expires. So if you pay $ 15 for a $ 30 promotion and it expires, the place of business will still give you the value of what you paid for — so in this instance the $ 15. I went back to use it based on the restaurants new parameters and the server was good so I’m raising my rating slightly.

This place was awesome! It all started with the free saganaki appetizer with Unilocal check in. We both got the Athenian Greek broiled chicken which was so tender and juicy with a lemony butter and Greek spices! I think this was the best Greek chicken I’ve ever had! The Greek salad that came with it was huge! The only thing that needed improvement was the Greek salad dressing. It had no flavor and was all oil. It needed vinegar, spices, or something else. Other than that, this place gets five stars for sure! We will definetly be back !

I live almost smack dab in the middle between the Downers Grove Omega and the Lombard Omega. I assume they are owned by the same people, but I also know what happens when I assume things. This one, tho? It wadn’t good, ya’ll. We came here with my parents the Friday after New Years and the food was just bad-frozen-microwave-dinner-terrible. TURRIBUHL! Mind you, I made the mistake of ordering the prime rib special. And seriously, I wasn’t expecting Lawry’s quality, but still. It was cold when it got to me. And there was more fat on it than on me after two-weeks of non-stop holiday parties. The mashed potatoes it came with were cold, and tasted of the instant variety. And the veggies were steamed to death. TO. DEATH. They reminded me of the awful boiled vegetables I had to choke down night after night when I was a teenager and my mother insisted we have a vegetable with our meal. Bleh.(No damn wonder I take food seriously now after eating that crap for years.) Our server was really nice and tried her hardest, but I secretly suspected she knew the swill she was serving was utter crap. I’d like to think this was just an off-night because generally I love diner/family style restaurant food. But after having a bad experience here I’ll probably stick to the on in Lombard for future dining departures.

After having been closed for a fairly considerable amount of time Omega Restaurant has re-opened. Now, before I go into my general review of Omega I should probably explain my history with this place. When I was in College just about every Friday night for at least a year or two I came to Omega. It was open 24-hours, the food was reasonably inexpensive and far better than nearby Steak N Shake. The atmosphere was nice, and the fact that they served garlic loaded foods like gyros meant it wasn’t overrun with goth teenagers like at Denny’s in the late hours of the night. I have fond memories of this place and all sorts of adventures were had leading up and in some cases during visits here many of which are probably not safe to repeat on Unilocal. In any event, after a year or two of nearly weekly visits here this Omega was replaced by Kappy’s in Villa Park as the«to go to» spot on Friday’s and while I would occasionally visit after that, it never regained its position. The first thing to go over about this particular Omega is the atmosphere. Something about Omega has always made it very comfortable. Comfortable to sit in booths, it being slightly darker on the inside than most diners. It’s just pleasant at Omega, the ambiance really helps. With it having re-opened and apparently changed owners I feared it might be more like the Lombard or long since closed Route 59 Omega which lack that charm. Fortunately, the look and feel of this place remain the same as it was 8 or so years ago when I visited regularly. Now the most important part of any dining experience the food. I came in one morning and ordered the Gypsy Steak skillet with pancakes. Service was friendly, fairly quick and painless. The steak skillet had lots of nice pieces of steak with it. No skimping on the meat here which was nice. The eggs were well cooked with the right texture and taste, the cheese was plentiful and not too greasy. The potato’s on the bottom of the skillet left a bit to be desired but overall I was pleased with my skillet. I also got pancakes with the skillet and these were large pancakes with a nice thick syrup with them. Nothing to write home about, but a fine compliment to the main course. Overall I liked Omega, perhaps more than I did prior. I think the food was slightly better than it was under the previous owners, but perhaps more importantly as I’ve now visited 40+ pancake houses I can appreciate the unique ambiance and calm atmosphere of this place a little more than I did in the past. I am going to upgrade my earlier scores and give four stars to Omega in Downers Grove. Good food, calm ambiance, good service at a fair price.
