I love their home made donuts. My favorite is the maple with almond toppings out of this world good.

Only good things are the donut holes. Every other type of donut was kind of doughy inside. Not cool when a donut gives you food poisoning? Atmosphere inside reminded me of «between services» at my grandma’s church when I was a kid.

I went to college in Dubuque and for those rare occasions that I woke up and was out of my apartment before noon(the shop closes up early) I would ALWAYS try to make it to Donut Boy to get my fix. I don’t know what other reviewers were expecting, but this is a classic donut shop. Cheap, delicious and the regulars and location give it character. In being from the Chicagoland area, the price compared to the quality of these donuts is well below what they should be worth. Every time I go back I HAVE to go here and get a Persian, their sourdough donut, and a blueberry cake donut. Best donuts I have ever had. Hands down.

I am of mixed opinions of the service. Overall, it would have been above average, except the cashier decided to interrupt our transaction to take a phone call. It wasn’t a personal call, thankfully, but I don’t think that should happen, regardless. My donuts were fine, but that’s all they were. I think I could have gone to any convenience store that has donuts and got something of equivalent quality. If all you make is donuts, then I expect damn good donuts, and I don’t think these were.

The donuts seemed a little stale. They reminded me of when I used to buy the«day olds» as a kid because they were cheap. The atmosphere was very friendly and they give a free donut on your birthday!
