Came with mi familia on President’s Day. Actually, I come maybe once a month, always wanting to experience Japanese Hibachi. Sometimes, it works out. Many times, it doesn’t. Service: What the deuce. Regardless what time and what day it is when I come here, my water does not get refilled. This sounds like a petty thing but I’m referring to basically anything server-related in general. They are non-existent(but they’re really nice??). I can only imagine them in the back room on their iPhones and Androids. Ugh. Food: Decent, depending on what you order. Some cooks prepare the food better than others. Thank god for yum-yum sauce to brighten the dull flavors. But with many GOOD foods, you should stay with the original taste/flavor(fried rice exemplifies that). The boxes are decent, but some dishes aren’t authentic(seeing as that this Japanese restaurant is Korean-owned).

My friends went here about a week ago for a casual meet up and dinner. We had a pretty large party, made reservations prior, and were seated quickly. Since it was a Thursday night, the restaurant was pretty much empty. The interior was clean and decorated nicely, with your typical American-Japanese accents. The seats surround the hibachi station counter style, so everyone gets a decent view of the chef at work. The service was okay at best. I’m not sure if she was new, but our waitress constantly made mistakes with our orders, almost every single time a dish arrives. Our hibachi chef, on the other hand, was pretty attentive. After we ordered, the brought small plates of salad for everyone. It was just plain, packaged iceberg lettuce salad, except you have the option of getting ginger dressing or regular salad dressing. The ginger dressing was pretty tart and tasted nice, but the salad was really out of place in a Japanese restaurant. They also served miso soup, which is sooo good on a cold winter day. I wish it was all you can drink like how some places have self-serve miso soup. The hibachi show was fun and«flamboyant»; the onion volcano was a crowd pleaser. I ordered the Pork Katsu Bento($ 19), which was well worth price. It came with a dragon roll on the side, tempura, and sauteed veggies, pork katsu, and a bowl of rice. The dragon roll was your typical, run-of-the-mill fake crab meet roll, with slivers of avocado inside. It tasted standard, like the sushi from an Asian buffet. The tempura was okay as well: stayed crispy and was a contrast with the other things in the bento box. I thought the pork katsu was a bit dry, and not as tender as I would liked it to be. Overall a pretty decent package, got to taste a bit of everything in the bento box. I think it was well worth it than the other items on the menu, and would probably order it again. It’s understandable that this restaurant was catered to more Americans. With the show and flair, the place is popular for special events, but for me, not so much. The Japanese food is average at best, but I’ll be willing to try some of their other stuff. Hibachi aside, there are better Asian restaurants around the area.

The food was excellent Mario was our cook and he was very funny and nice. Giving it four stars because my steam rice was cold and service wasn’t that great. But other than that everything was FANTASTIC!

I chose this place for my birthday dinner. We arrived on time with a party of 9 but had to wait 20 min to be seated. After we gave our order, the chef arrived and started serving the rice. 30 – 45 min into our service they noticed the chef was at the wrong table. He packed up and left. A new chef took over and cooked the rest of our food without any show or conversation. It was the most boring, unorganized and not-worth-the-cost dinner I have had. I will never return or recommend this place.

Warning: this restaurant is Korean owned, therefore it does not serve authentic Japanese cuisine. Korean restaurants use Korean ingredients, which are fundamentally inferior and have a strange flavor palette. If I was going to make Mexican food, I wouldn’t stop by the Cambodian market for ingredients. The sushi was deplorable, the tuna tataki flavorless and the gyoza… um, that wasn’t gyoza. That was when we knew how bad it was going to get. The server brought several little dishes of an unidentifiable brown pickle — after trying to determine exactly what it was we asked the server, who said«I don’t know, I was just told to bring it to you.» After pressing him to ask the kitchen, he came back to tell us it was broccoli stem. Okay, thats weird. I was thinking ginger? I didn’t think it had originally been something green. He also said the deep fried balls of old rice scrapings were called«rice paper», after asking him to explain WHY they called them«rice paper», he said«I don’t know, thats just what we call them.» A native Antlantan told me not to eat raw fish in Atlanta. Why? Does everyone automatically get food poisoning in this landlocked city because there isn’t an actual ocean around for hundreds of miles? Yes. The soy sauce tasted old/rotten/weird…fyi, chinese soy sauce is not meant for eating with sushi. It. Just. Isn’t. My stomach is churning while writing this review, simply recalling the horrible details of dinner. We also told the hostess that we had a birthday, and that went completely unacknowledged. Terrible service, the food was bad clams, we will be complaining about this restaurant for a long, long time. Tl;dr GOTOBENIHANASINSTEAD.

I visited the place on Sunday night and I was very disappointed the way chef served the food. We were the last table left in the room and the chef dropped my meat on the table, picked it up and put it back on my plate. Same with the rice. Not enjoyed his cooking style. The food was delicious like always. Then the waitress rushed us out of there. I love this restaurant, but Sunday was a bad experience.

We went to for our son’s birthday dinner. Our kids love teppanyaki. We also like that it’s so close to home. The food is pretty good and the person who cooked our food was very nice and funny. However the servers never seem so friendly whenever we go there. Overall it was a good experience.

I am very generous to give it two stars. When you walked in, there was no order as to where the people could sit. The staff was not very communicative in this process. When a waiter came to assist us, it was in a rush, and of course, he had a little command of English and gave us the wrong drink. The food was delivered to us in a timely matter, when it was presented to us, it was mediocre. The seafood we ordered was too overcooked, and the rice tasted at least two days old. The vegetables were not good either. Over steamed and over stir fried. At the end of the entire process, I thought that this place would be suitable for Americans who have an idea what Japanese food taste like. But for someone who want to have an authentic taste of Japanese food, do not go to this place. On the other hand, the interior looked nice, but only just.

Went to lunch at Kani. I had Habachi. It was reasonably price. I wasn’t blow away. Miso soup was good. Salad was decent. If I go back I might just eat a bento box for lunch. Habachi wasn’t really worth it. Waiter and Waitress was friendly. The Habachi Chef was good and entertianing.

I found myself in Duluth again and this time at Kani House. My friends chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner as they were in the mood for hibachi. I checked out the menu before going to the restaurant and pretty much just wanted appetizers and vegetarian sushi rolls. If I got hibachi… it would’ve just been vegetables and rice… which I eat all the time at home. I ordered the vegetable gyoza — steamed, the vegetable spring rolls, and the sweet potato tempura sushi rolls. The gyoza, were rather sad, watery, and not something I would order again, unless the pan fried version is much much better. The spring rolls were okay, so that was a plus. The sweet potato tempura roll had potential to be great but the sweet potato flavor got lost somewhere and I felt like I was just eating rice with something that was fried awhile ago and was now just rubbery in the middle. So service started out fine, our large party was sat when we all arrived, our drink orders were taken, and we perused the menu to figure out what we wanted. After everyone ordered… we were brought salad and soup. I asked the server what kind of soup was it… and he said chicken soooo I gave it to one of my friends. Before long the hibachi chef came out with his cart and started to cook the food. I enjoy watching people cook, since I do it everyday, so his lack of show that my friends complained about didn’t bother me… I enjoyed him setting the grill on fire so I was entertained. I also glanced at the chef at the next table, he was tossing food into the mouths of his customers and I thought to myself… we were not the kind of group for food to be tossed at period. Well by the time the chef was done with the hibachi, almost everyone had empty drinks. The server didn’t come back to see if we wanted anything else(because I had wanted to order one more thing, but gave up). Someone else filled our drinks, not sure what was poured into my cup, but it resembled flat pepsi… Four of my friends didn’t get their steamed rice until the chef asked for it to be brought over. Also another friend never received their appetizer. It just seemed like there were so many large parties going on(because I heard the birthday song, sang 4 times) and with busy dining room service we were a bit neglected. Overall, it was just an off… experience. The food was meh, and could’ve been better and service definitely could’ve been more attentive. But I would not mind going back if the opportunity presented itself, but not in a large group or for hibachi. Just regular dining service and perhaps I will be writing an updated review on how everything was much much better.

Good but the whole hibachi things is a little played out. We take the kids because they love to see the hibachi chef perform. As they get older and older I can see the novelty wearing off really quick. Great place for kids and that about it.

I like this place :) I’m not a real adventurous eater but I think if you were this would be a super place for you. I don’t go for sushi or exotic items but the times we’ve come for hibachi I’ve had the shrimp fried rice and absolutely loved it. I’d like to tell you about this past visit in this review. We arrive and the hostess greets us with«are you joining us for hibachi or the dining area tonight?». Our reply«hibachi», she says«we are not taking any more hibachi diners tonight». Really? Why’d you ask then? We’re seated in the dining area and it takes a good while for a server to appear for our drink order. I’m subtracting a star because they only serve Pepsi products. Once again, this is Georgia. NOONE likes Pepsi. Gross. Ordered sweet tea and was brought unsweet. 10 minutes later when the server comes back I was able to request some Splenda, thinking another glass of tea just might be too much to ask for. Ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was lovely. The only problem was there were only 2 pieces of calamari, the rest of the dish wash tempura vegetables. Fried broccoli? Tastes just like you think it would. Ordered the shrimp fried rice thinking it’ll taste the same as the hibachi shrimp fried rice. Oh how wrong I was. It was gooey for some reason without any egg in it. I had requested ranch dressing on my salad as I do not care for ginger. They brought me salad with ginger dressing anyway. Oh well. Lesson learned– this is a wonderful place for hibachi and probably only for hibachi.

One of my favorite places to go for hibachi and Japanese food. My family loves to come here for birthdays and celebrations and it’s always a fun time. Really great for groups and your entrée comes with miso soup, salad, veggies, rice, and dessert so you’re sure to leave very full and satisfied.

It was my partner’s day off, so he rolled off the bed close to noon late and he was immediately hungry. And for some reason, he just wanted to have bento box lunch at Kani house. I haven’t heard good reviews from my friends who has been there before but I have never been there myself. So I braved myself to give it a go. Kani house is the intersection of 141 and abbott’s bridge rd, at the same complex as H-Mart and long horn steakhouse. Before entering the restaurant, I almost had an urge to go to Long horn instead, but suppressed it and went in. The host greeted and seated us. The restaurant is huge with so many sections and also a V.I.P section. No idea what gets you there, but this place could host large parties. We were given a lunch menu and sushi rolls menu as well. The lunch menu had salad entrees, sushi combination items, bento boxes and some hibachi items. We ordered, 1) Papa’s Roll — shrimp tempura & spicy onion topped with seared scallops, avocado, & wasabi sauce 2) Don Katsu Bento box — served with soup, our house salad, shrimp & vegetable tempura, 4pcs of California roll, & steamed rice 3) Galbi bento box — served with soup, our house salad, shrimp & vegetable tempura, 4pcs of California roll, & I got fried rice instead($ 1.50 extra) Papa’s roll was underwhelming. The rice wasn’t seasoned, so even though the roll looked nice and appetizing, the roll didn’t come together as a tasty one. All both boxes comes with same items other than the protein the individual has ordered. The soup wasn’t Miso and it wasn’t too bad but the salad was delicious and I wished they had given more. And then there was tempura — which was heavily battered with under-salted tempura batter. Probably the worst tempura I have tasted ever(that’s saying much, because I have been to so many Japanese restaurants). And California roll was passable, except for the under seasoned rice. Don Katsu(fried pork cutlet) was good — crispy and non-oily outside and tender inside. Not the best I have had, but it was good. But we liked the Galbi(short ribs) better. It was succulent, juicy and delicious. I had ordered it with fried rice for $ 1.50 extra and I thought it was good. Over all, Sushi at this place is not going to be good(if they don’t know how to season the rice, they don’t know how to make good sushi. Period) and tempura wasn’t impressive either. But if you like items like galbi, katsu or hibachi and fried rice items, you could give this place a try. If you are going for lunch, they are open only from 11.30 am but they will seat you if you get there 10 mins early. 3 stars.

FOOD was OK. $$$/4 for what you get, SERVICE was OK. Sushi /hibachi was expensive. Like someone said it’s a 2−3stars. It’s a chain and really nothing spectacular or interesting. We went for bday celebration. It is restaurant-tainment. Went for hibachi, waited awhile until the table was filled up as our party couldn’t fill up the hibachi grill area. We all ordered steak. It was ok. Not the juiciest or best cut but decent. Ordered some off menu sushi was ok nothing wowed us. The Show was your standard with flying vegetable shot into your mouth, fire and volcano onion. Kids seemed to enjoy it. Recommend for group special occasion and kids who have never seen the show, would not be a regular and we probably won’t be going back. Nothing to draw us, not the food, décor or show.

We went to Kani House for my going away lunch. John, our chef was the best I’d seen. He was making jokes, flipping his spatula, and generally being awesome. Everyone agreed it was the best Hibachi they’d had. If you get hibachi, get the hibachi rice, otherwise it comes out in a tiny cold bowl without vegetables, and costs extra.

I ordered the Tokyo roll and I didn’t realize it was fried but it was good I had the girl with the pink hair and we asked her questions about salad dressing but she didn’t seem knowledgable in what the ingredients are. Maybe she was new? Everyone in the restaurant said hi which was nice. No one seemed really happy though I wish they all smiled a little more but it was kinda slow so maybe they were bored. Food was pretty good, maybe I would go again.

Kani House is GREATTT! It’s really a fun eating experience. It seemed like the kids near my table were really enjoying it(there’s a fire show). I would say Kani House is a great restaurant to go to for special occasions with friends and family. And for what you get, the food is not very expensive. I’ve been to other hibachis in Georgia that do not taste as good but charge a lot more. I also love that they offer so many different combinations of hibachis. I had a difficult time choosing! For appetizer, I decided to try the Agedashi Tofu. It was my first time trying deep fried tofu and it was delicious! My friend and I shared an assorted nigiri dish. I usually don’t like it when there’s too much rice but it was a perfect amount. And the sashimi tasted really fresh! Georgia doesn’t have a lot of restaurants that serve good sashimi so I’m glad I came across Kani House! For hibachi, I ordered filet mignon and shrimp. Ah I could not get enough of both of them! The shrimp and filet mignon were cooked perfectly. The filet mignon was so soft and it literally melted in my mouth. And if you go, you must get the fried rice! I mean MUST. And I can’t write a review without mentioning my chef, Jason! He was different from the other chefs at different hibachis I went to. Instead of doing the typical tricks that I had so often seen, he made cool images like a duck with the fried rice! He even asked us what picture he wanted us to make. He was very funny and personable, having conversations with us. It seemed like he really enjoyed his job and that really makes a difference to customers like me. When great food comes with great service(the waiter and manager were sweet too!), that really makes a restaurant stand out. Then, after the dinner, I had the complimentary sherbert ice cream(you can also ask for vanilla) which was the perfect way to end a greattt dinner. I am so glad I discovered Kani House. I would definitely go again!!!

Kani House is definitely a decent option if your standbys are not available. I’d say Kani is a place more for hibachi than sushi. Our sushi orders have usually come pretty fast every time we’ve visited because like I said, most people come for the hibachi. If you don’t mind the occasional whoosh of the roaring onion volcano fire and delighted screams and shouts, come for the sushi. It seems to be decently priced and they have homemade soy sauce, which is pretty cool, as well as hot towels for use before your meal. Also good for early diners — they open at 5 pm.

Ever since my favorite Japanese restaurant(Hachi-Hachi) closed down, I needed a new fix that wasn’t a 30+ minute drive. My sister had her birthday last week, and she suggested we eat at Kani House– as she enjoys it(but the real reason being it’s halfway between our houses, and anyone who knows about traveling east-west in the burbs is hell). I figured, «free food, and getting to see my nephews– 2 pluses!» so off to the KH… Got there around 6pm, and it has about a 50% capacity… I noticed though– how spacious the restaurant is, which I am a fan of. A full bar/specialty room to the left– traditional dining straight ahead, and the hibachi rooms are on the right side. We so went hibachi! 4 tables that sat 8(or 10) a piece made up the room we were in. There was a family of 3 who sat with us as well, as it was their mothers birthday too. The menu had a decent selection, but I went straight for the combos. For $ 34, I got the filet, scallops, shrimp, + chicken. This also came with fried rice(extra$), salad, soup, veggies, and shrimp app. All in all, a lot for the $$$… They also serve Sapporo, and Asahi, but that night– I stuck with Bud Light(how unoriginal, I know). Our soups and salads came out quickly, and I enjoyed them both. Seasoned well. Damn that ginger dressing was great! I ended up eating both my nephews(move outta the way, Hoover is coming through!) soups and salads. Glutton. Then our cook came out, and started with the rice, the shrimp, the meats, then the veggies. Everything was seasoned and cooked well– I didn’t leave a drop on my plate, and he kept giving my fat ass all the left overs– thank you! We opted out of dessert(which surprisingly is NOT included), as we had cake at the house, but they put a hat on my sis and sang her happy birthday– she was absolutely thrilled– I wish I had the pic(s) to share! I am so thrilled a decent hibachi is only a 10 minute drive from my house! Note to parents– if your children are afraid of flames and loud noises, check out the traditional dining area– it is quieter, and are shielded from the heat(although they can always watch from afar if they are curious) — as my other sis opted coming that evening with her 4month old son. Other than that– this place is very kid friendly, but not in a sense where«they take over the place». I hear they even have multiple locations around ATL if you don’t wanna trek here!
