This White Windmill is the nicest bakery I have within walking distance. It is small, and occasionally runs out of stock of what I’m looking for. Like other nearby bakeries, there is no melon pan. That said, it’s much preferable to the other few nearby bakeries. The taiyaki(cream or red bean filled fish shaped pastries) are fresh made and great, the staff are friendly and have never gotten my order wrong or overcharged me. The bread and desserts are delicious and not too sweet. If they had melon pan, lower prices or consistently had what I’m looking for in stock, they’d be five stars. As it is, they’re the best local bakery and will continue to get my business.

They have some super delicious cakes. The Korean lady at the counter had a thick accent but was very nice and repeated herself quite a bit too make sure I understood her. I bought my best friend’s birthday cake here and got rave reviews from everyone who has a slice. Fruit was between the cake layers and the cake itself was very light and fluffy! Not at all heavy for those of us who crams themselves full of dinner then tries to eat cake after. Pretty good prices in my book for the quality. No complaints here! :)

I visited White Windmill right as they were closing. If you are not willing to leave Johns Creek to drive to Duluth for late-night desserts, then this is the place you want to go. The inside is quiet and small, with booth seating along the walls. In the center of the bakery is a large display table with assorted goodies that are pre-packaged for you to take home. We immediately grabbed the mini-cookies off this table. The cooler display has some cake slices and macaroons to choose from. Our choice was the chocolate cake; they didn’t have any original names for their desserts which was not as fun as other places. The cake was decent, but it erred on the fluffy side more than the rich side. The cookies were good, but I wish I had asked if they make them at the bakery because for a second I was convinced I was eating individually packed Famous Amos. I would definitely drop by here again for desserts.

Don’t staff the place with people that don’t speak english! We specifically asked the Asian lady at the counter if they have bubble milk tea she nodded her head yes aggressively and then made my two daughters a smoothie with boba in it completely the opposite of what we wanted specifically when we said we do not want a smoothie to the woman who did not speak English but nodded her head a lot

AIN’T NOTHINGLIKETHEREALTHINGBABY I don’t really think of this as a bakery, it is simply a store that receives baked goods. If you go to this store early in the morning,(before it opens), and peek through the glass, you will see that it is already stocked. Real bakeries clear their stock out at the end of the day and start fresh each morning. The main Windmill bakery is on Buford Highway and I much prefer that location because of the great selection, samples and frequent turnover. They are constantly putting out fresh treats throughout the day. Also, when it comes to this location, they don’t seem to have enough items to satisfy my American palette. If you want an Asian pastry and a special drink, just walk two doors down to H-Mart where you can get some of the same drinks and treats at a much better price. They have an inside bakery as well. For me, I’ll just stick with the Buford Highway Windmill.

Asked if they had a mango mousse cake. They said yes. We bought it and brought it to a birthday party. Turned out the cake was FROZEN. Should have told me it was frozen. I would not have bought it. And, it’s $$$.

I’m a huge fan of this location. First, it’s close to my day job and second they make the best white chocolate bubble tea that I’ve had in awhile. The key is the soft tapioca balls. The trick is cook them to perfection so that the tapioca balls aka«bubbles» are still soft and chewy even though they are mixed into a frosty beverage. The flavor is always consistent and overall, I’m happy with my orders, every time. They offer free wi-fi here which is a nice bonus.(The wi-fi password is displayed on a plexi stand by the register) and their café is conveniently located in the shopping center next to the Super H-Mart in Johns Creek. Haven’t tried their baked goods yet but they look equally fresh. They are also getting ready to serve«waffle desserts» which includes fruit toppings, whip cream, ice cream and fruit syrup. Check them out if you’re in the area!

This place is under new management, so I am not sure how things will pan out. I didn’t know this when I stopped by to pick up a celebratory cake, but I was utterly pleased to find out that all cakes that night were 50% off. Lucky me! Even as I contemplated how the stars must have lined up just so for me to save some money, the saying that you get what you pay for started scrolling across my brain. Driving to my sister’s crib, I was kind of worried that I was delivering a sub-par cake and ate dinner quickly so that we could try out the cake made under new management. After cutting up the cake and serving all present a slice, I dug into mine(I got the Strawberry Cream Cake). Much to my surprise, the cake was delicious and as I remembered past Fresh Fruit Cream Cakes that I have picked up at this White Windmill location and others located in the metro ATL area. Not sure how everything else is, but I can assure you that the cake I got for my family a couple of weeks ago was everything that one grows to love about Korean cakes(which are light and not overly sweet).

Like red bean in a bun, I find myself in the center of the great 3 ½ star controversy! This White Windmill is clean, nice lighting, warm, great mood music, and just a great place to enjoy a coffee or tea. Baked good selection is small, but all are fresh and presented well. While not my first pick, I would definitely return. Since there are really no big negatives, White Windmill gets a four!

This is a cute bakery with super nice staff that for some reason tried to start a conversation with me in korean as I was checking out(I’m not Korean). I stopped by late in the evening so a lot of the bakery items were sold out for the day already. There are some very pretty cakes in the display that I’d like to try on future visits. I ended up picking up some red bean breakfast buns for the next morning’s breakfast and some Madeleine cookies which were delicious and fresh. I would have liked a bigger selection but I’m going to blame that one on myself — maybe I should get there earlier next time.
