Found this gem at the top of the hill overlooking their vineyards and the Dundee valley! What a great place for a getaway! My wife and I made this our home base during a weekend of wine tasting in the area. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. I pre-ordered a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate that was in our room upon check-in. Nice extra touch! The breakfasts were very good. On our last day we stopped by their on site tasting room and tried the Black Walnut Pinot selections. The woman serving in the tasting room was full of local knowledge and great tips for places to visit in the area, while pouring great wine. Ultimately we ordered some to be dilivered home! ;-) Hope to have an opportunity to visit again in the future!

NEVER make a reservation here. They have the most ridiculous cancellation policy I have ever heard of and they don’t bother to tell you when making the reservation. I made a reservation for one night on 12÷20÷14 for 12÷30÷14. Both my partner and I came down with a terrible cold and sinus infections and called to cancel on 12÷26÷14. I found out that if you cancel more than 30 days out you are charged $ 50. Less than 30 days out you are billed for the entire amount. Not cheap at $ 290 a night. So my partner and I are will happily go and cough all over the other guests at breakfast. How you can cancel 30 days out when you book less than 30 days out is beyond me!

We had a lovely time at this beautiful location. My family rented out the whole B&B for a tiny wedding(15 people) and it was wonderful. The views are exceptional in the morning and evening; even got to watch hot air balloons this morning. The breakfast the first day was beautiful and exceptional quality; we ordered from a menu of three choices and it was fresh and perfect. The rooms were spotless, high-end linens, and very nice quality décor. Each room had a basket with a cutting board, cheese knife, etc. Ample parking and great outdoor seating. They were cheerful as we needed to move outdoor chairs to make room for everyone and asked frequently if we needed anything. They were great. The owner’s adult children are caterers and did a sit-down dinner for our party that was outstanding! Absolutely top-quality and great presentation. The appetizers were beautiful! Then salad, cold soup, flank-steak, and the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. Fantastic! Here’s why it didn’t get a 5-star from me: 1) they have a family dog(who is tiny and cute and very well behaved); however, that meant spots of dead grass from urine as well as the very occasional dog dropping in the grass. Also, the dog was in the kitchen one day, which was pretty unprofessional. It wasn’t on the counters or licking the food, of course, but still– gross. 2) the breakfast on one day was buffet. Now, it was a very high-end buffet with scones, eggs, meat, granola and fruit, but I dislike a buffet at a B&B. We stay at B&Bs probably 3 – 4 times per year and this is only the second that I’ve ever been to which had a buffet; I think it’s tacky. Although, again, excellent quality. I would absolutely recommend this to groups who want a private oasis.

This place is special. Expensive, yes — but worth it. We just returned from a long weekend at the Black Walnut with another couple, and we simply loved our stay. I think photos of the property, while beautiful, don’t even do it justice. First, it’s in a secluded location away from the highway(unlike the Allison, which was the other spot we considered for our stay). The Black Walnut sits at the top of a hill, with sweeping views across its own vineyards and the picturesque hills and fields of wine country. On a clear day, you have a stunning view of Mt Hood from the property. The inn itself is warm and intimate. The rooms are impeccably furnished, and made me feel like I was staying at a luxurious retreat in Tuscany. Breakfast each morning was delicious — I especially enjoyed being invited into the kitchen for the home-style breakfast on Sunday. The innkeepers made us feel right at home and quite pampered. We did a wine tour with Access Oregon and couldn’t more highly recommend them. I would suggest asking the innkeepers for dinner recommendations — we selected Dundee Bistro on our own, and did not have a good experience. All in all, I recommend the Black Walnut Inn as a perfect place to enjoy Oregon wine country.

Not the most welcoming or pleasant experience when buying a gift certificate(traveled all the way from Portland), I sure hope the people I bought the certificate for have a better time when actually staying at this establishment.

An extra two dollars for egg-whites at breakfast. Really, is that needed after paying $ 400 for a room? Maybe I could get two dollars off for getting extra egg yolks. It is the best view of wine country around though.

Beautiful inn! Room(wildwood) was very spacious with very comfortable bed and great views. Also very private. Breakfast was delicious and the inn is very conveniently located to all the red hills wineries and dundee. Staff and owners were great and very friendly. Would def stay again.

Stayed for a quick weekend getaway to wine country. We had a wine event to go to Saturday evening, first time staying at the Black Walnut Inn. First off, my wife and I generally prefer hotels to B&B’s, I’m not a fan of set breakfast times, quiet hours or mingling with small groups of traveling strangers but the Black Walnut Inn is definitely trying hard to change my mind and has almost succeeded. With breathtaking rolling vineyard views and an old world Italian villa feel the drive in sets your mind that it’s in for a relaxing stay. The owners and staff give a warm welcome and make check in a breeze, they give you walk throughs of your room and it’s features. The rooms were very nice, with all the amenities you’d expect with a few welcome extras a la Anti Pasti plate waiting in your room upon arrival. We stayed in the Carriage House upstairs which I highly recommend. Beds were super comfy and believe me, I’m super critical when it comes to hotel beds. Breakfast is served at 8:15 which is fine but if you want to be lazy and sleep in let the staff know so they aren’t waiting for you in the dining room. That said breakfast was different every day with healthy and hearty choices and the food was overall very good. After breakfast, throughout the day, homemade cookies and iced tea are available, the chocolate chip and the oatmeal raisin I had were fantastic. The evening of our wine dinner we had a local driver pick us up and take us to and from the dinner. We coordinated this through the Inn weeks before, very easy and reliable as well as reasonably priced, $ 50 round trip, not bad for peace of mind. Overall we had a very happy experience at the Black Walnut Inn and will most likely return.

Stayed here on our honeymoon. It was everything we could have asked for — great service, well appointed rooms, great views, clean, amazing breakfast, close to wineries and dining. We’ll be coming back!

A Tuscan style villa that sits just above Dundee. Perfect location, crazy beautiful views. Great rooms and breakfast was SO yummy. Expensive, but unrivaled.

What a breathtaking venue! I had the opportunity to photograph a simple and sweet wedding ceremony there this year, and the setting could not have been more gorgeous. Everyone there was very helpful but not intrusive in any way. Truly an amazing place!

This place is great. Get a room on the second floor in the main building. The views of the Williamette valley are beautiful. We could see Mt. Hood from our bed, some 50+ miles away. The views are the greatest. Rooms are nicely appointed. One evening we sat on our balcony and listened to a rock band play music one hill over. Amazing. The inn is located very close to many wineries and restaurants. We will return to this inn many times in the future.

Fancy schmancy and expensive, but luxurious, well appointed, and in a great setting. Modern architecture, friendly service and killer views of the valley all add to a great place for a splurge.
