4 of us went to dinner New Years Eve. After sitting at the table for 10 minutes the waiter informed us he would be with us in a bit as they were very busy. 5 minutes later our waiter was finally back at our table. We ordered beverages as well as dinner since we all had plenty of time to look at the menu. Reservations were at 8:00, didn’t receive food until 9:30. Waiter informed us there was only one cook in the kitchen. Since it was New Years Eve I’m sure they had a pretty good idea how many people they would be seating. Should have been staffed accordingly. French onion soup and Halibut were very good, everything else was very disappointing and flavorless. I’m sure this restaurant is capable of plating a good meal but I’m not dropping another $ 150 to see if they can do so on a consistent basis.

I was so disappointed. My whole meal, I had the rack of lamb, had absolutely no flavor.

My wife and I had a fabulous experience in early September on a mid-week night. It is a small, very traditional french restaurant with a menu to match. The food was perfect and the service was impeccable. Our waitress made me a wonderful cocktail and took very good care of us. My wife and I started with Oysters Rockafeller and Onion soup, both of which we loved. We then had Filet with Bernaise and the Halibut special. The meat was sauteed perfectly and the sides were very tasty. We even had cherries jubilee, flambeed table-side, for dessert and loved it. A great experience that we will definitely return for!

Hi, I’m from France. «Café de Paris» cannot pretend to be French restaurant. In the Menu: fish and chips, poulet à l’Orange… ridiculous! Finally, I ordered a beef sandwich… expensive. I had to put some ketchup to have taste…

We came here during their lunch hour. The café was not very busy at all… yet the service was incredibly slow. I had a grilled cheese and the bread was actually soggy and my husband had the chicken that only came with two very small pieces. Overall not impresses at all. We ordered the apple crêpe for dessert. It seem like it was canned apple with gross juice just poured over the crêpe. The only good thing about this dessert was the vanilla ice cream. Not only was the food not up to par, but the restaurant itself needs some serious remodeling. Tables are cracked, glasses are not clean, plates are old… the list goes on. For this being in downtown Edmonds and close to the water we expected more of this place. We will not be returning.

I’ve been for dinner three times, about once a year and have been happy with the food, service and experience. I don’t know how the restaurant compares to being in France, but for my palate and taste everything was fine.

French restaurant? Yeah right! No where close! My husband and I are were deeply disappointed. We ordered the roasted chicken avec frites, and it was simply without taste. The chicken was not seasoned. The fries were dry. They should specify on the menu that the chicken was without bones as well. I will not come back and do not recommend this place. I made a long drive for nothing!

Been meaning to write a review about this place for quite a while, as this is my NEW favorite restaurant!!! Came on a weeknight and we were one of two parties in the restaurant(granted we were eating a bit late). They have live music on certain nights and the band was really good! But you really come here for the FOOD because it is just that good. Started out with the Soupe du Jour, which on that day was cream of mushroom soup. My ultimate favorite soup and they did such a great job with it. Then had Filet Mignon for my entrée and dessert was a crêpe! Nothing better than a chocolate and banana crêpe, yum! Our waitress told us that her dad is the only chef and that he works 7 days a week. Wow! She was very informative and helpful. Really great experience here and looking forward to coming back!

Edmonds is such a charming, delightful little city, and this little gem of a restaurant just adds to Edmonds’s downtown character. Never been to Paris or France, but this helps me to envision what it may be like. We have had such delicious food and enjoyed a great bottle of wine. Great atmosphere for a truly special and romantic meal. Take your someone special and pretend you’re really in Paris. Easy to read menu, and no French language skills necessary. Tables arranged so there’s a feeling of having a private meal with private conversation, not being overheard or hearing others. Always look forward to eating a special meal here and having a lovely evening.

Dining here is always a pleasure. The décor might be dated for the younger generation but if you look beyond and find how fresh the entrees are, it is a very«fine» experience. The specials are truly just that — «special». We love the waitstaff. If you like folk music, don’t miss Thursday dinners with Jerry. We enjoy this restaurant over and over.

My wife and I dined here for the first time. We had an excellent experience all the way around. Mainly, the food was excellent. Starter salad was large — some might actually share. We had different selections and both salads were excellent. I ordered lamb and my wife had halibut. Both were perfectly prepared. Sides were delicious with a definite French touch — creamy, flavorful, and not lo-cal. Bread was served warm and tasted like it had just left the oven. Because the mains were large, we shared a dessert and it was excellent as well. The only glitch to the evening was they were slightly understaffed for the busy dining room, but the slight waits would not be a concern to a European diner. Not sure what happened to the naysayers on this page, but our experience was excellent.

Server was very good. Menu good, French with English(incase your not French friendly) but desire the food and the small — locally owned place. Like unique and one of a kind. Tired of the«chains» — this is a great place. Eating on sun deck, very cute. Can see the water and train. Close to the edmonds ferry. Bread was warm and yummy!

Today a friend and I had lunch here and it was our first experience. I love French food but it can be difficult to find good restaurants. We were not disappointed with our lunch. The lunch and dinner menu’s are quite different so the offerings for lunch are a little more limited but there was plenty to choose from. Starter: French Onion Soup — order the large, only $ 1 difference and much more yummy baked cheese on top. $ 5.95 — absolutely delicious! Entrée: I had the Beef bourguignon which I think you could smell the wine as it approached, the meat melted in my mouth, the mushrooms exploded with amazing flavor. It was served over egg noodles and came with fresh French green beans. I was in heaven! Serving size was just enough and ran $ 11.95 Dessert: I tried the Crepes Normandy which had ice cream inside the crêpe and delicious spiced apples on top plus whipped cream. I did not leave anything on the plate. It was a perfect way to end the meal. $ 4.75 Our server was quite pleasant and helpful. She and the chef appeared to be the only ones working so she had her plate full! In the beginning we received our drinks right away and the soup and entrée but then waited about 40 minutes for dessert. The good thing was my friend and I were happy to be visiting as it was about 2 hours for the lunch service. I am more than excited to return and try some of the other offerings too. All in all, a restaurant I will definitely go back too!

Definitely don’t listen to the negative reviews. We took a chance and it was in the top five best meals we’ve ever had! And the others were 2 — 3 times more expensive. We started with the escargot and oysters Rockefeller, which were delicious. But the entrées were AMAZING! I had one of the night’s specials veal in a chanterelle mushroom sauce and it was great. My husband had the boneless lamb chops in peppercorn sauce OMG!!! Seriously the best lamb either of us have ever eaten and that’s certainly not from a lack of culinary sampling. There were four veggies each carrots, green beans, creamed spinach and potatoes. They were all fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauces were incredible; rich of course but not heavy or overbearing. The sauces complemented the food instead of overwhelming it. To other people’s complaints. Our service was fantastic, we had three separate people attending us. As my husband said, I’ve never had my water glass refilled that many times. It was leisurely but that’s nice. We had a show to go to afterwards and they had no problem settling the bill early so we could finish at our own pace and head to the theater. The music was quiet jazz versions of French songs and was pleasant. They obviously work to spread people out around the dining room for an intimate experience instead of cramming everyone together to make serving a little faster like most places. The tablecloths were fabric and the flowers were fresh. The chairs are from the 80’s but at least they are comfortable. The rest of the décor and lighting was nice. Bottom line, I don’t know if they’ve improved things or if the neigh sayers are just crazy but we had an excellent experience and will definitely be back! It’s classic French food at a very reasonable price. Loved it! And my husband and I are in our early 40’s for the people who were complaining about the average age. Crazies!

My family & I have always loved this place especially for lunch. I almost always order the fish special and have never been sorry. The rolls they serve are fantastic and I love the dinner salads. I will be very sorry when the owner/chef retires!

Is this owned by Annie who owned the original one in Seattle in the Rainer building? It was a Cabaret and AWESOME.

Don’t listen to the naysayers! You cannot simplify the definition of French cuisine down to one concept and then say this does not match up. The owner is a classically trained French chef who obviously understands the principles of French food and has also put his own personality into it. Furthermore, the food is consistently delicious. Try the café de Paris salad and the smoked salmon appetizer for starters. The veal in mushroom sauce is a great choice and is one of my favorite entrees. But the rack of lamb is likely one of the best on the menu. Honestly, you can’t go wrong here. Great service from a family owned and operated establishment and food that tastes simultaneously gourmet and home cooked. Give Café De Paris a try and you won’t be disappointed!

I’m really surprised at the tactless disregard for older people in these reviews. If we were all in our 20s and 30s, you wouldn’t be here, entitled whiners. And the whippersnapper who snarked about retirees and their unsophisticated palates? Enjoy crippling Karma in your old age, you snot. We’ve been eating good food since before you were born. Yes, we’re a little older, and decided to try Café de Paris with moderate expectations. The Mister and I didn’t care one whit that the interior had not been redone by a Bellevue designer, and probably had it’s original furnishings. This place is about food. See, we kind of found it to be a little gem, a little nostalgic aesthetically, and our particular menu choices ranged from good enough to outstanding. The Oysters Rockefeller were the best I’ve ever had(and I’ve made it my mission to try them whenever they’re on the menu… this includes Daniel’s Broiler… now they’re second), and the Mister agreed. We greedily ate one order each. The French bread was fresh baked from the oven. Wine and cocktail prices were surprisingly decent. Okay…on to entrees. The Mister ordered the rib eye(mostly because I won’t buy them for home cooking anymore… not lean enough), and I ordered the boneless lamb chops. I opted out of soup and salad. The Mister had a very good asparagus soup, although it was a bit on the salty side, and a side salad(which is where they could step it up a bit, maybe with field greens for a better presentation) with good flavor. The beef and lamb were exceptional! The lamb had a beautifully balanced peppercorn sauce. Each entrée was accompanied by a roasted potato half, steamed hericot verts, steamed carrots, and creamed spinach so tasty that I wish I had the recipe. The plates were exceptionally hot, yes… but I had no impression of microwaving at all. At home I use a warming drawer for plates because they keep the food warmer longer. I’d be inclined to guess that’s why the plates are hot. This food was not microwaved. I’ve been a foodie too long to believe that. So our moderate expectations were exceeded! We had a lovely night(and there was live music, a guitarist/singer whose songs would likely not be recognized by the more close-minded youngsters, but provided a nice background ambience) and are already planning a return trip with friends. Seriously, if décor is a big deal, you might just want to opt for a chain, like Anthony’s. If elders bother you, you might just want to hang out at the skate park with a taco.

I’m sad to read the«poor» reviews Café de Paris is getting. I ate lunch here for the second time today & bottom line: I wasn’t blown away yet I will be back. My first visit my freind & I had the hearts of palm salad, & shared a beef bourguignon crêpe. Both were very tasty, the prices were fair. Today we had french onion soup(which was very good), green salad with crisp butter lettuce, the beef crêpe, & a ham & mushroom crêpe. today most of the food was bland. they do offer a varied menu(burgers, fish-n-chips). the service is a bit slow; I’ve noticed the patrons are mostly Ladies Who Lunch, & I’m envious I can’t devote the hour plus it took for lunch. however it is a nice relaxing place for lunch, not the most delicious french good I’ve had in the Seattle area yet I will be back to bring another friend next week.
