I usually go to other Mexican Restaurant’s in the area but I was in a hurry today so I dropped into Sombrero on Graves Av. I ordered 4 rolled tacos with guac to go. When I got home, there was no guac, which made a what would have been a barley passable lunch with the guac, into a flavorless waste of time. I will definitely never eat here again.

I ordered a «jumbo» breakfast burrito today. It was tiny compared to what an average burrito should be. I guess the jumbo came in for the extra ingredient they put in.(Quite deceiving actually) For $ 8 I was expecting to be full. I left still hungry. The beans were good and ingredients are tasty. Nothing special about this place that would want me to continue coming. Authenticity of the food is half and half. The drinks aren’t authentic.(Jamaica, tamarindo, horchata) Overall I liked the food because I’m not a picky eater. Ohh and the cashier invited everyone to sign up online to receive a free breakfast burrito. This invitation however was not given to me. I guess they just rubbed me the wrong way. Ahaha

Not sure all Sombreros are created equal! Ordered Carne Asada Burrito — it was just ok. I typically love Carne Asada at Sombreros on Main St in El Cajon… but this one… not so much. I was super hungry too — and usually that can sway me in the«oh my gosh it was sooooo good» review but not this time. I managed to pick off some of my kids pollo asada french fries and they were pretty dang lip smacking good…

Sombrero has a chain of taco shops that are consistent and tasty. The salsa bar is the same at each location and that’s a good thing. The food tastes the same no matter which location you choose and that’s one of the things that’s keeps me coming back. The fish tacos are amazing. They have a taco Tuesday here as well, the tacos are huge and $ 1.99 a piece. Most people fill up on just 2 of them.

Glad I found this place. They had a great deal: burritto(choose one of four options), chips and a drink for only $ 5. The fish burrito I had was very good with a nice balance of ingredients that were were fresh and tasty. The fish wasn’t overly battered and had a fresh, clean taste. Chips were nice and crisp. I only tried one of their three salsas. It was a bit generic in taste but good. Service was quick and friendly. I would definitely come here again.
